Sun Haven benefits from its position on the beach holiday and surf coast of Cornwall and you can never take that away from the site. It is a completely adequate site with all the facilities you require and is well maintained. Unfortunately this is the fourth site we have visited this year so far, two were really good and the third was excellent. I think Sun Haven should consider up grading showers, toilets, washing up area and site lighting fairly soon. Sites elsewhere in the UK are moving on.
When we visited the the site was at full capacity and the weather was rotten. The staff worked hard to keep up with the mess the campers were creating.
All the staff I met were friendly and helpful.
The ground in the touring area was sodden after continuous rain, but I saw no sign of flooding or unusable pitches.
The walk to the beach is definitely at least 20 mins unless you march.
Despite the numbers we had no problem with hot water or queuing for showers.
There was virtually no noise after 10:30pm.
The information boards and information room were very good. Weather forecasts were supplied, which is good if you normally rely on the ipad or mobile, no signal.
Waste water disposal had hand wash facilities alongside, a good idea.
Campsite had no info on Lanhydrock House, it is well worth a visit, particularly in rain as much of the interest is inside the house. Get the kids interested in the quiz's to distract them. Us oldies spent nearly two hours inside!

Firstly can we just say a big massive thank you to the management and all the staff. Our holiday hadn't started too well after the car broke down on the way to Cornwall, and, after our caravan was towed to Sun Haven Valley we came up against it again when the recovery vehicle could not get down the hill and round the hairpin into Mawgan Porth. With no hesitation, the owner came to help and hooked up our van and towed it to SHV even though it was late afternoon on probably the busiest Saturday of the year!
We have been returning to SHV for five years now and can only rave about the park, it's facilities, friendliness, silence policy and the surrounding area.
SHV is everything it says on the tin and more.
Shower and washing facilities are excellent and always hot water even at peak times.
Wetsuit cleaning area is a very good idea and helps keep the other facilities clean and tidy.
Good dishwashing area.
Excellent play area, games room, TV room. (Certainly more than enough for a 5 and 15 year old).
Fabulous information hut.
There is NO NOISE after 10. 30pm with wardens checking and politely asking anyone not adhering to quieten down.
Toilets are probably due an update but this, by no means, intimates that they are not clean.
The grey waste disposal area can be difficult to empty a full Wastemaster due to a bar across the front.

We have just returned from a lovely week at Sun Haven. The site is immaculate and peaceful. Facilities include children's playground open from 8. 30 am to 9. 30 pm, TV room, washing facilities for dishes and wetsuits.
Showers were great, plenty of hot water ( although the men in out group said they weren't very hot, the women's were very hot, a bit too hot for the small children but still fine).
The no noise policy after 10. 30 pm was very welcome, there were some rowdy teenagers staying who got quite loud during the evenings but even so, by 10. 30pm you could hear a pin drop.
There's a lovely walk to the beach, only spoilt by the dog-walkers who don't bother to clean up after their dogs, it took us about 25 minutes to walk down to the beach with small children and all our gear.
The beach itself is great, we did lots of bodyboarding but it was way too rough for the children to do it, although they were happy to play on the beach.
Mawgan Porth has a couple of beach type shops, fish 'n chips and a general store, although a bit pricey for essentials. We drove to Morrisons which was about five miles away.
We love this site and it's location, Constantine Bay is also worth visiting, even more spectacular than Mawgan Porth. We're booking again for next year.
The owners clearly take pride in the site and although we felt upon arrival, the lady there wasn't very friendly, I guess she just wanted to emphasise the no noise policy, the other staff were very friendly.

We stayed at this campsite for one week (with two children aged 2 and 5) and had a lovely time. The setting and surroundings are beautiful and the campsite felt quite sheltered because of its position.
We had a streamside pitch near the far end of the site and it felt very quiet as not much traffic came past our tent. The kids loved the playground which was well equipped and provided plenty of entertainment.
The facilities were clean and despite it being the school holidays I never had to queue for showers or wash basins, whereas my husband had to wait a couple of times, only for a few minutes though. We booked the family bathroom a few times as it is so convenient to bath the kids in a proper big tub and we were quite happy to pay £2 for this service.
Another great perk was the free freezer facility and the fridge. As it was very warm in the week we stayed there, our ice packs just did not do the job to keep things fresh in the cool box, so we placed all our food in the fridge. The fridge got a bit crowded but the owners regularly clear up and remove items that are not labelled.
The site shop is small but provides the essentials, and there is also a local farm shop a few minutes walk from the site. The 10. 30 silence rule seemed to work and we did not feel at all restricted by it, on the contrary, it made the evenings peaceful.
It is not far to Mawgan Porth but we ended up taking the car down to the beach as the walk was more between 25-30 minutes with two small children (plus carrying beach kit and surfboard). Mawgan Porth is a nice little place, not too overcrowded, and with a couple of nice cafes and pubs.
St Mawgan to the other side of the campsite is also a lovely little village with a great pub and beer garden (Falcon Inn). All in all we had a very relaxing holiday and would definitely stay there again.

Just got back from a two nighter here, and we really enjoyed the stay!booking was easy, done by email. Arrival was good, we were asked to have a look which pitch we would like and simply confirm at reception,
We chose streamside even though it was mizzling most of the day, pitch was well drained and we had no problems. Showers and toilets were ace, only slight downer for me was the mens showers had a small problem with the motion sensor an kept stopping and the temp fluctuated to cold and warm, however it didn't spoil the shower, the other half loved the female showers and nearly fainted when she found out she could hire a private bathroom!
approach to site was ok, though I suppose if you were towing you would want to ring ahead to avoid buses, smashing walk to the beach through the woods, and we drove as well, parking is good. , no noise rule is effective.
Although we had a strange experience the first night, when the pitch next to ours was suddenly being spiked by the groundstaff at sometime in the dark hours, about midnight I think, it was a bit weird as the floodlights came on and the machinery started. More weird was the fact the other half slept right through, still not too bad.
We think that the facilities were first class, and the staff we met from the groundstaff to the cleaners and the reception staff, were all very friendly and polite, they work hard at their jobs and we appreciated their efforts,
We will defo return oh and loved the ducks and the guinea pigs.
One last point, please whatever you do do not go dog free, our sam loved the site too and if he doesn't come with us then we don't come.
All in all a very well run site which we do want to return to in the future top marks!

We stayed at this site for a week in July, the site is well looked after and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The staff responded quickly to my emails before we arrived asking about various things such as picnic benches and Tesco deliveries to our tent.
The toilets and dish washing areas are always clean.
The showers are hot and free. If you want to get clean as a family (we had a 1yr old and 3yr old with us) you will need to hire the bathroom, this is £2 for half an hour, a bit pricey but it does have a shower, bath, toilet and sink in there. Could may be do with a baby change bit.
The children's play area is very good for the size of site.
We had to abandon the tent 2 days before the end of the week due to the weather, the ground near the stream was sodden and there was standing water around the tent. I don't believe this is likely to be normal as there was an exceptional amount of rain that week!
The path to Mawgan porth is very pleasant and takes about 10 - 15 minutes, it is passable with a buggy but not the most comfortable ride!
The 10. 30pm curfew is taken very seriously and the site was very quiet at night, excellent for small sleeping children.
In all this is a very good site.

Just returned from yet another fantastic holiday here. Next year already booked. Cant fault this site, absolutely brill. Weather wasn't overly kind, gale force winds and rain, but Steve the owner put up notices with warnings.
Lovely owners, lovely staff, lovely site.
We go the same time every year and so have become friendly with several families who also return the same time.
Love the area and the setting and really wish I could say that this site was horrible just so nobody went and it stayed quiet, but cant fault it.
There was a problem with the boiler and the owners worked flat out to repair it, but again, out of there control.
Love this site and cant wait to go back.

We stayed at Sunnyside end of June 2012 in our campervan with our driveaway awning on a grass pitch with electric hook up.
This is the second time that we have stayed at this sight and we love it! The main draw is Mawgen Porth beach, which I have been coming to for many years and my wife is a convert too. The campsite is a handy 15min walk down a normally sany path. When we where there due to the rain it was a little muddy in places but not too bad. I would have thought that going down the path with really young children would be hard work, however there was plenty of family's who proved otherwise!
The views from the site are fantastic and it is really well laid out and I don't think it feels over crowded. The Loos and the showers are one of the best that I have used in this country.
Only down side is the approach road is very narrow and windy. With the bus that also uses this lane you have to time your approach, especially if towing!
We found that the WiFi was a bit hit and miss, sometimes working well, other times not connecting to the internet. However we doidnt got to surf the net, just the sea! Also there is no phone signal at all. Not always a bad thing, however can be frustrating on times! Phone box available by reception!

It's a small site with 5 star rating, went last year and was very happy but not so happy this year with the campsite.
The toilet block was only cleaned once a day and although the cleaner did a fantastic job it just wasn't enough and on her days off the cleaning wasn't done to the same standard, just seemed like they had a quick flick round.
As the campsite was busy it did not take long before you were looking for a clean toilet to use. Showers not as bad but the mens could of been hotter. Plus the toilet block could do with a make over if its going to keep its 5 star rating.
Made a complaint about noisy neighbours in the morning between 5 and 6, I asked at what time was acceptable to make noise and if someone could come and see if the level was acceptable or not. We had no feed back whatsoever from the campsite staff, very unhelpful indeed.
As we have 2 dogs we took it in turns to take the dogs for a walk at that time in the morning only to hear the sound of sleeping campers snoring at the other side of the campsite. Even asked the neighbours to try and keep the noise down but with 4 kids running wild and no control over them it was a waste of time.
Surround area is very nice and we would definitely come to this area again but would use a different campsite, its a shame as we did like it a lot.

We stayed at this site for the jubilee bank holiday week with our 3 daughters aged 10, 3 and 1.
The site was very well maintained with ok sized pitches, full amenities including 2 family bathrooms that can be pre booked for a small charge.
Any issues seemed to be dealt with very quickly, and the staff were extremely friendly.
The best points were the view from the site, access to the beach although we struggled with our old hired buggy, the kids play area and the roaming ducks, birds and guinea pigs. The 1030pm curfew is an excellent discipline maintained by everyone.
The lowlights we're that there were too many dogs on site for our liking and we feel the toilet and shower facilities were in need of an upgrade although not essential this site promotes itself as 5 star there are a number of sites in the uk now that have truely 5 star bathroom facilities achieved at relatively low cost. There was no mobile phone service and no wifi facilities on site.
We would stay at this site again
