 We have just had 3 days at this lovely site. The facilities are superb and the setting secluded. My only gripe is the pitches are very uneven and need blocks and ramps to obtain level siting and could be very unnerving to any unit not aware of this so please Sue or Jane state this problem on your web site so any visitors arrive fully prepared.

Very clean and organised site, ideally located. Toilets, showers and washing facilities are excellent. This site is basic hence make your own entertainment. Pitches are very good and level in the tent area. WOULD RECOMMEND THIS SITE TO ANYONE. I can't find any negative issues about this site providing you are camping and not glamping.

This is a lovely little farm site, being not too far from the Expressway and handy for much of North Wales.
Access into the site is a bit tight, and if you're using a super pitch then you'll need a motor mover, but the extra touch of a wooden table and bench on each super pitch is a nice touch.
The shower block has been updated and now have some nice shower rooms, but be warned, they are very powerful and splash through the shower curtains and the water almost runs out the door. Leaving little dry floor for drying. The old showers are a bit dated and the new wet rooms are a bit cramped in the shower.
The water can run out at busy times and leave you with a dribble, which can be a bit unfortunate if you're soaped up!
All in all though, a nice peaceful site.

This has got to be the loveliest site that we have ever been to. We were met by friendly owners and given a choice of pitch. The views, facilities and cleanliness of the site are second to none. The pitches were very spacious, and the super pitches were super! We went to the Black Lion Pub for Sunday Lunch (it is advisable to book), the food was delicious and very reasonable. We will definitely return to this site, hopefully for longer than 2 nights. Highly recommended.

We spent 7 wonderful nights at this site during the May half term week. We were on a super pitch (number 20) which was huge, especially as we don't yet have an awning, with lovely open views across the fields - and it was so quiet, even with the site full.
We have 2 children, aged 9 and 6 who simply loved the play area, I love the 'back to basics' style of the play area as it encourages the children to use their imaginations, it was so lovely to see all ages coming together and creating games which occupied them for hours. If you need your children to be clean then this may not be the site for you - I believe children, mud and water belong together and simply kept a bin liner under the caravan and their muddy clothes went straight into each day!
The facilities are great, new wet rooms with very powerful showers - it was a little tricky getting dried as the rooms were hot and steamy but this was a small price to pay for such a lovely shower.
During the week the site celebrated it's 25th anniversary and we thought it was a really lovely touch that the owner personally delivered a bottle of sparkling wine to each pitch.
The site is a great base for trips out in every direction - Abergele itself did not appeal to us although is handy for tesco. The A55 gives you fact access to places further away but we preferred turning left out of the site and following this road in the direction of Conwy, the views are incredible. Check out the weather forecast in the surrounding areas as we managed to 'chase the sun' on a couple of days - the weather on Anglesey for example seems to be different to that further inland and while it was raining heavily at the caravan site we were enjoying a picnic on the beach! Llandudno, Conwy, Newborough beach (Anglesey) and Greenwood forest park all come highly recommended as does the dutch pancake house at the Conwy water gardens where we were mesmerised by some gorgeous otters.
We highly recommend this area and caravan site for families in particular - the site was clean, quiet and felt very safe. I have not doubt we shall return.

We stayed here for the bank holiday/half term in May. It was a minimum six nights stay during this time, which is the longest we have ever stayed anywhere, so I was a little nervous, but mostly from a 'can I cope with the kids that long in a confined space' sort of way!
The Arrival:
The road to the campsite is a little narrow and hilly in places. There wasn't much traffic and we were in a larger vehicle (for the hills) so no problem, but my husband said that someone towing a caravan with a saloon might struggle with one hill in particular. The entrance to the campsite is lovely. One of the first things you see are the gorgeous guests houses and a serene duck pond! Reception was very friendly and welcoming. We had requested the pitch next to the play area since we have two children, ages 2 and 8. So, we were in pitch number 1, literally, right next to the play area. Someone who doesn't have kids won't want that pitch, but it was perfect for us!
The Pitches and Grounds:
The pitches are all hard standing with plenty of room in between so there's no feeling like you are stepping on your neighbor's toes. There are 30 pitches divided into three sections that are divided by tall, well manicured hedges. They are positioned in circular patterns with greens in the middle, so there's always a feeling of openess and space, but the caravans are well sheltered at the same time. Grass was well kept and short. Landscaping very nice. The whole campsite was in top notch condition and very lovely.
The Facilities:
The facilities are ace! In fact, the toilet and washing up area are the nicest I've seen thus far in our 4 years of camping/caravanning. The washing up area is in a conservatory and has a very good view of the play area, so you can keep an eye on the kids while doing the washing up (or laundry, ironing). There was also a fridge if you wanted to use it! With all the natural light, it was cheerful, bright and airy. It made me enjoy the washing up!
There were plenty of shower rooms (just a wet room with a shower) and wet rooms (wet room with toilet, sink and shower). These had no temperature control, but were nice and warm. They were on a timer as well, but free! There was also a shower in the main toilet area that did have a temperature control and no timer. My daughter used this but the water went cold half way through her shower. It did speed up her shower time, though, so silver lining! ha ha There was also a room with a bath tub which you had to pay 20-40p to use, which was a small price to pay. This room was very popular and it was very nice! The toilet area was beautifully decorated and had a 'home' feel as opposed to a campsite feel. It was always clean and warm.
The Play Area:
The playground area is gorgeous, but I feel most suited to ages 4 and over. I had to watch my two year old like a hawk due to the bridges over the stream and the stream itself (as two year olds can be ridiculously unpredictable with no sense of danger!). However, my eight year old had an absolute blast playing with the other children. The tire swing over the stream was very popular with all of them. The stream borders the play area, and it is a very small stream! Obviously, like any stream there will be some slippery rocks and mud, so be prepared and kit the kids out with wellies and old clothes! There were some swings for younger kids which my son enjoyed. There was also a wooden bridge/fort towards the back. The website shows no separation between the duck pond and play area, however, there is now a fence dividing the two.
The Area:
The campsite is a little removed from all the main attractions, but still close enough and the area is very beautiful. We had a few days out: beach, railway museum and model shop, and Greenwood Forest Park. All were brilliant and fun, but keep in mind if you do the latter activities to take plenty of pocket change. The museum has a lot of working models, but many require 20p to run. There are also some little rides which are 50p or £1, depending. The forest park was really neat, but again, there are a lot of extras once inside that require additional money, such as donkey rides, face painting, crafts, some rides, etc. You think paying that much entry fee to the forest park that once inside most of it would be free, so that was a little annoying to us, but it was a still a great place to take the kids. The weather that week was hit or miss! We had brilliantly sunny days and a few days of nothing but rain. Also, my husband and I took turns with a stomach bug, which consequently meant we got fed up and left a day early. This has no reflection on the campsite, however, just our bad luck!
Summary:
Hunters Hamlet is a great campsite. It's not too big, not too small, beautiful, quiet if you aren't next to the playground, excellent facilities, friendly people and a nice area. It deserves the high ratings and good reviews it has gotten.

A real 'get away' break, fab field for walking the dogs in - right behind our van. New shower - wet room facilities, got steamy very quick and not sure how long they'll stay looking that good - they could do with a squidgy mop so that you can wipe the floor after you've used it. Super pitch, everything just plugged in and worked, Nice touch that you have your own little picnic bench. The lady charged us for a minimum 3 nights for the bank holiday (which I know is quite common) but then when we were delayed by 1 night we weren't offered a refund even for our dogs not staying for the full 3 nights. Very quiet guests, didn't see any children although there is a small play area for the little ones (quite basic). We drove to Llandudno one day and the scenery (off the main roads) was breathtaking.

What a fabulous gem of a site, nestled in the countryside but within easy reach of the beach. They don’t take tents on this site so it’s a caravan and motorhome site. The owners are very helpful and friendly.
The site is well laid out in three sections all of which are very well maintained, all pitches are hardstanding, some have grass area for awnings others are completely hardstanding. There is also free WIFI across the site.
There is a lovely play area for children with a small stream running through and the field next to the pitches can be used for exercising the dog when not in use for hay or horses which is great this time of year, there is also a public footpath that runs down the farmers field on the main lane that you can use, but be aware that this field also has sheep in it sometimes.
The shower block is spotless with one shower for women and one for men plus a family bathroom and a separate unisex shower in a demountable building. A lovely well equipped camper’s kitchen with washing machine and dryer (small charge) is also on site.
The site is about 2 miles outside Abergele where you will find a decent Tesco for your groceries open until midnight on a Friday – excellent if you are a late arrival. There is a fab bakery Becws Cumberland Hoise Bakery in Market Street the cakes are lovely and not too expensive. The Abergele Grill do a three course Sunday lunch for £9. 95 which isn’t bad at all. The Coffee Rooms on Market Street is lovely place to stop for a coffee and a cake. The Spice Market Indian in Chapel Street is worth a visit the service and food are both great (don’t be put off by the décor) There are plenty of places to park in Abergele and nice for a mooch for an hour.
The beach front at Abergele has lots of free parking and a few cafes and amusements, the beach is sandy once the tide has gone out a bit and dogs can be walked on here from 1st October to 30th April without restriction – from 1st May to 30th September there are specific areas of the beach dog walkers can use which are plenty big enough for even the dog that needs a lot of exercise.
We visited The Black Lion at Lanfair Talhaiarn good menu and reasonably priced the food was pretty good too. The Wheatsheaf in Betws Yn Rhos is only a short drive down the lane, there are new owners and whilst the food was good they are only just starting out and don’t take cards yet (they are going to at some point so I would check before you visit) the service also needs to improve.
The site is situated so that you are in easy reach of the bright lights of Towyn, Rhyl and Prestatyn or the sedate pace of Rhos, Llandudno and Conwy the whole area has something for everyone.
This is one not to miss if you are in the area, we can’t wait until it opens for next season.

Stopped there for a week in September
Very nice site to stop at
Site was keep clean all the time
Toilets were spotless all the time
The family who own and run the site were very friendly, could not do enough for you
Nice little pub just down the road you can get a nice meal there if you wish
This is one of the best sites around give it a try
You can even have a bath if you wish
Plenty of free red hot water
Nice laundry room with full size washing machine and dryer
Would I return? yes I will time and time again

Hunters Hamlet is a beautiful small site in the heart of wales. The site is kept really clean and smart. The facilities are spotless. There are only three toilets for each gender with one shower each, but they are really clean and well kept. There is the addition of a family full size bath, bathroom. You have to pay 40p for the use of the bath but its well worth it, again its really clean.
The owners are friendly and helpful. The site is well laid out with plenty of space between units. The field is split into three sections by hedges. The view is stupendous in all directions. There is a play area for the children and caters for all ages.
Its situated a few miles out of Abergele takes about ten minutes to drive into the town with all of the facilities, including a Tesco supermarket. The only down side of the site is there is not a designated dog walking area, one has to walk the dog up the lane. This can be a little hairy in the dark in case a vehicle comes flying down, relying on its lights and familiarity of the area. But its only a small concern. Wouldn't stop me going back time and time again.
