Not a 68 pitch site, most of the site was seasonal pitch, we booked for 5 days on pitch 5 which was hard standing, it was like sitting in a car park, there is no grass on pitches 1 to 7 just dusty gravel, the toilet block was old with pine boarding.
We left the site after 4 days even though we had paid for 5 couldn't stand it any more, there are static vans and big 5th Wheelers on seasonal pitches.
If you could get any pitch above number 8 it might be ok and the fishing isn't that good you can only fish one of the ponds.
The pub on site keeps funny hours the food is ok but not special, I wouldn't recommend this site, you would be better of in Tesco Car Park in Ellesmere

Well maintained to the point that its a bit like being in a huge gravelled car park with bits of grass and foliage dotted around. Unless you have one of the seasonal pitches you may not get much privacy.
This is not a true 68 pitch site as far as I can see virtualy all of the good pitches have become seasonal pitches for that reason I won't be back.
Easy access, coded security barrier. Only two showers provided and although OK and clean they are not the best facilities ive ever seen that's for sure.
Expensive, for the pitches available, luckily most of the seasonal caravaners were away when we were there so it was OK but it has the potential to become a very cramped site in the summer I would think.
The pub is OK although decor is dated. It is open to the public but doubt very much if any use it. Two rump steak main courses and a bottle of wine for £20 - and to be fair it was spot on

Yet another excellent stay at this spotless and well appointed Park. I is always a pleasure to stay on this site and it has now become a personal favourite of ours. With this in mind and what was said in the previous review, I asked the owner if it was the intention to make all pitches into seasonal pitches for tourers and statics and he assured me that the site was to have 32 seasonal pitches and 32 available for booking. This was going to be the plan so hopefully we will have no trouble booking.

Disappointing 5 days here, mainly due to not reading the reviews on these pages as we usually do! If we had we'd have found out the '2 fishing lakes' was actually one shallow duck pond. Plus the pub only opened Thursday onwards which, arriving on Wednesday intending to eat and drink in the pub, meant we had to drive 5 miles to Tesco to buy food and booze. We asked the man who greeted us on site what time the pub opened and he said 5pm. However he neglected to tell us it didn't open until the following day (when we went in and there he was, behind the bar!). Despite that, the site is quiet and picturesque and the facilities clean. The pitches are poor, being sited on gravel and, having a dog, meant we had to lug his bed out of the caravan every day so he had somewhere to lie when we sat outside. For this reason and the fact that when we eventually ate at the pub, the steak was so tough it was impossible to chew, we won't be going back.

Beautiful site, Spotless & very well maintained, Peace and tranquility site, which it is.
Owner always around site working and available,
Pub opening hours to suit dinning so if you want a drink be aware of opening times.
Showers ok,
Sadly this is not a 68 pitch site as most of them (and the best ones) have become seasonal pitches,
In February all but half a dozen pitches occupied by vans, but only 6 couples on site who we saw, #
Easy access, coded security barrier,
Expensive, for the pitches available, luckily we had the last good one available, has the potential to become a very cramped site in the summer,

A very disappointing visit to this Tranquil site. The facilities are certainly not up to the standard of other 4 Star sites in this franchise. We booked a grass pitch via the telephone with the owner and on arrival discovered that these no longer exist. Our pitch felt more a like a gravel car park with a very small allocated space; fortunately the adjacent pitch was vacant. The site appears to be full of seasonal pitches and several statics without occupation. The toilet facilities very basic, cold, one handbasin and only one shower working in the ladies. As mentioned in other reviews the utility washing position is very low and exposed to the weather.

This location is part of our new adventure touring rural Britain before plotting our return route to Portugal in the Autumn. This Park is situated in Overton on Dee, Wales although turn right at the gate and you're in Shropshire after 100 yards or so and on to the charming town of Ellesmere three miles away and whose market day's on a Tuesday. The surrounding mere's provide excellent dog walks and of course swims for our labrador, Darcy. The White Horse in Overton offers very excellent pub grub in a traditional pub layout all at good prices.
The park is well qualified for Tranquil parks membership providing well maintained facilities including a couple of lakes, one being designated for fishing. We're on a fully serviced pitch which appears to be the standard here. Gary, the site owner, is most helpful and runs a great ship! The Trotting Mare's 'pub' opening times on site are geared to eating and not normal pub hours so you need to check it our if all you need is drinks. The adjacent farm fields allow for perfect doggy facilities and all in all, it's a great base for exploring numerous surrounding points of interest.
We'd certainly return and thoroughly recommend the site.

We normally read reviews before booking but didn't on this one and we're so glad we didn't! We are here for 2 weeks and arrived on early Sunday and they directed us to our pitch. There is a beautiful seasonal park with very impressive private super pitches with 2 lovely lakes. The touring area is less exotic but each pitch is fully serviced. The loos and showers are refurbished and spotless but stools in the showers would be helpful

It is part of the Tranquil Parks caravan parks which are adults only and as we have used many of the TP parks before and they are superbly appointed, thought we would give this a try. I booked and paid in full well in advance for 2 super pitches (we went with friends) which meant own water tap and waste and not having to cart the water butt miles. When we arrived there were no pitches at all left and the super pitches which were unoccupied had been booked, but apparently not by me! I however had proof of payment so along with other arrivals we were dumped into the overflow pub car park with no private facilities (paid for remember) no apology and no offer of refunds! As the time was getting on we stayed put as being a Bank Holiday weekend we had no hope of getting in anywhere else. The overflow caravans were all squashed together with barely room for our awnings to go up. I decided to pursue a refund which initially was met with a shrugged shoulder or 2, but when I produced my invoice etc was grudgingly offered the difference between a standard and super pitch, not even a free drink in the bar of the pub. I truly believe had I not insisted on a refund it would never have been offered.
The toilet block was fine, clean, although the showers grew cold after a minute or two.
There are no facilities on site (shop) and the nearest were in Overton, a drive away. The pub behind which the site is located and named after does food which while pricey did a lovely Sunday lunch.
There is a lovely little fishing pond which was well used and several of the anglers were chatting and comparing catches so obviously go there a lot.
On the whole this would have been quite a nice if noisy little site had we been treated as valued customers and not cash cows which is how we felt.

Lovely neat tidy site, toilets and shower block clean and warm. Adults only. Hard-standing for all caravans.
Staff friendly. We were near the road on a busy weekend, there are very few pitches with any view. Any with a view are used by regular visitors who leave vans on site. Luckily we turned our van round to face the duck pond. The road was quite noisy. Other pitches were very tightly packed in.
We did appreciate having a pitch with our own services.
We visited Oswestry and had some lovely walks on Offa's Dyke and at Pistyll Rhaeader falls.
We would not return because we like to see the countryside around us not feel like you are on a car park.
