Have just returned from a five night break, and I don't think there's much more I can add to what's already been said.
The fields are lovely and big, although not all pitches are level. We were directed to a pretty corner pitch, and were torn between pitching on the flat untouched grass next to the obvious pitch, or pitching on that but on a slope. Needless to say we spent the next five nights either rolling out of bed sideways, or dragging ourselves back up their airbed like beached whales!
The shower block is adequate, but tired, and I found it slightly frustrating that the basin in the shower room only had hot water, so you had to then go to the loo next door to brush your teeth.
The dawn chorus here has to be the loudest I've come across, and it starts early. As soon as the cockerel has finished the wood pigeons begin, so no chance of a lie in.
Towards the end of our stay we decided to add on, and paid for, another night. However we regretted it later that day with the arrival of several groups, none of whom respected the 'no noise after 9pm' policy, or made any particular effort to keep shower block/washing up area clean, resulting in way more work for the lady who did the cleaning. I fail to see the point of having rules that aren't enforced, (I'm not against people having fun, just not being considerate) but even living on site, I'm not sure if the owner would have been aware of people sitting around campfires, laughing and talking at loud volumes until past 11pm (one group were out there beyond 1am). The next morning we asked for a refund for the extra night, and explained why. Brian seemed genuinely dismayed, and even offered a 10% discount for our next stay.
If you have children who want to run wild, then this site is perfect, but for a couple who want peace and quiet I'd find it hard to recommend.

Nice Fields to camp in away from road, so safe for the kids. ( You enter the site down a small lane off from a country road from the nearby town, so no traffic noise either)
WC/Shower block to small for the amount of people staying on site (and also dated), this resulted in queuing or timing your trip to the toilet / shower / washing areas just right. Toilet unit / cubicles were very small, while the shower units were very big, along with nice water temp and pressure.
With the place seeming very busy and hence taking a fair amount of money, it doesn't look like a lot is being put back into facilities.
We chose this place as it was cheap getaway so hey what do I expect?
Over all not too bad

Our second visit this year, that alone speaks volumes. A lovely little site which if it were adult only would be heaven!
Brian is so lovely and loaned us some gas until we could pick up a bottle, we were fortunate to be in the top field as there were some large family groups at the bottom fields
Around 21.30 it goes wonderfully quiet, our dogs love their walks in the forest, peak times there is always a queue for the to few showers and toilets, a great little site for long weekend breaks

We spent four brilliant days at Hillside, only five other units on site and found it very relaxing, peaceful and friendly. Brian and Dianne made us very welcome and they are very relaxed about well everything really.
We had a huge pitch with electric and enjoyed a beer with Brian in the evening on his patio.
Free range eggs on site and a shower block fit for a rugby team, has to be the roomiest shower block we have seen.
You wake up to the sound of birds singing and Mr Cockerel, he didn’t bother us because we do the same here at home.
Plenty to do and see around the area and you are right in the middle of the forest so you can walk/cycle to your hearts content.
Real nice peaceful atmosphere and we will certainly go back again.

We spent a lovely few days at this peaceful campsite. I travelled with my husband and his parents and our 3 yr old. There were many children who played safely in the centre of the field.
On Saturdays there is a welcoming barbecue. On arrival we were issued with a comprehensive leaflet including maps and ideas of what to do. The discounts for the butchers and the pub came in very handy!
The pub allows dogs inside the bar area which is useful when the weather is miserable outside. There were a variety of animals around the area which my three yr old loved. Good hot showers were wonderful. Lots of things to do in the area and will be returning soon!

We spent 6 days here in glorious early June sunshine, and had a great time. The area has loads to do and with the lovely weather we experienced our holiday was almost perfect!
I say almost because there were one or two things that did take the shine off it regarding this site.
The positives were:
Lovely location and very scenic - loads of places to visit, New Forest, Bournemouth area, Isle of Purbeck, Lulworth etc
Hot free showers, really powerful
Brian was very friendly and allowed my horse mad daughter to 'help' with the horse chores.
The not so positives:
Well the main one has to be the toilet facilities. Although clean, there simply weren't enough of them, and at busy times of the day the queue for the two toilets and two showers was regularly 6 to 8 people long.
The website clearly states that they have 17 pitches in total. Now if these 17 pitches had small to medium tents, 2 toilets would be OK. However, I counted 26 tents and 6 caravans on two of the nights we were there. These weren't small tents either, they were large Outwell style and all had 2 adults plus varying numbers of young children in. The end result was very long queues for all the facilities, even when people started using the disabled toilet as well as the usual two.
I appreciate it was half term, and the weather was glorious, but the owner had taken twice the amount of units on to the site than the website states. Many of the large tents were ridiculously close together, although I can't comment as to whether these were groups of friends or not.
We did manage to get a quieter pitch at the top of the hill, and whilst chatting to the couple in the neighbouring tent noticed that they were the only people on site without children, which didn't help the facilities situation!
I'm sure if I went to this site during the term time I would have rated it as the best site I had ever been to, as it was very scenic and well located. Unfortunately there were just too many campers for the limited facilities the week we were there.
The atmosphere was relaxed, and the site was quiet by about 10.30.
Overall it was a lovely site, it just needs extra loos or less campers!

We, as a family of four, had a lovely time at hillside. As the name says its on a hill so some pitches may not be level but its not a major problem for most pitches.
The toilets are limited if its a busy week but you wont wait long at the busy times. A nice washing up area is next to the toilet and showers too.
What made our week was the fact our two kids could roam around the place without any worries on our part. Considering one is 2 and the other 5 this is a great plus. They made loads of friends as we did ourselves as its such a friendly site.
The pitches are laid out around the edges of the fields so the kids can play in the middle if they aren't popping into a new found friends tent !
There aren't any specific facilities for the kids but they didn't care one bit and enjoyed the freedom we were able to give them. They explored small parts of the forest behind the camp and ran about with sticks happy as can be.
Noise is limited to 9pm but we found the odd groups of people were louder than others but no big deal as all went quiet most nights by 10.30.
We had plenty of room for our tent, a vango tigris 800, and noticed most pitches had plenty of room too. The pitches are only marked out by a number so its quite relaxed about tent sizes etc. We saw quite a few big tents pitched with no problems of space.
The surrounding areas in the forest are absolutely stunning. We did several bike rides around them and down to verwood. On most rides we only ever saw one or two people till we got into town. We were also lucky enough to see a couple of buzzards on these rides. One flew right behind us into the trees and the other we spooked on one of the paths and watched it fly off, an amazing sight to see and one the kids wont forget as they are such big birds.
Verwood is a small town but has a large supermarket and a few local shops. The butchers is worth a visit for bbq tucker and the free sausages were very good.
There are chickens on the site and fresh eggs are available.
Overall it was a great week spent there and we will visit again.
It could do with a bit of tlc to make it into an even better site but its a great site as it is and worth a trip to it.

The site is in a lovely location in the Ringwood Forest. We chose it as the sites in The New Forest were either very basic (no toilets) or horrendously expensive. This one is very reasonably priced - we paid £16 per night for 2 adults and 2 children in 2 small dome tents.
When we went it was very busy, as it was half-term, so we were told where to pitch. It seemed very disorganised. Although we had booked and paid in advance, the owner had difficulty in finding our details. We appreciated the vouchers for the local shops in Verwood - the sausages from the butchers were fantastic! Don't trust the map in the booklet - it's very out of date.
There are only 2 toilets and 2 showers (plus a disabled cubicle) so there were very long queues in the morning and the toilets became dirty and ran out of toilet paper. They really need another toilet block, as when we went, there were people pitched in all of the 3 fields.
There was a big pile of things for recycling which the squirrels were getting in to. They have a cockerel on site which crows a lot but we didn't mind that as much as the lack of enforcement of the quiet rule. The people pitched by us were very noisy up to midnight on both nights and many children were screaming from 7am.
It is a shame that there isn't a playground and this would put us off going for longer than a couple of nights. It is pretty basic so you need to take outdoor play equipment and board games. We didn't see a games room!
This is a good site to go to outside of the school holidays. On the plus side, it is well priced and so many of the camp sites are very expensive in the South East.

Agree with others, this is a very nice site. Very easy to get to as it is on the main road through Verwood, nice wide entrance. A small Tesco and a petrol station in Verwood itself.
Greeted and allowed to choose pitch, then the two friendly guys swung the van into position to save me using the mover. We were on a hardstanding pitch which looked towards the bluebell woods and we were lucky enough to see a small deer peering out of the trees which is quite rare, and regular visitors mr and mrs pheasant, rabbits and squirels running around in the small meadow which was also home to five cows. We also saw a jay which landed in the meadow and a tree creeper on the hedge next to us.
The walk from the site into the bluebell woods was lovely, the further path was absolutely covered in bluebells. The facilities were clean, though slightly old fashioned, and there was hot water. Plenty of dustbins, electric points, water points etc and covered dish washing facilities.
A small shop which stocked milk and bread rolls as well as other basics. Games room with plenty of leaflets for all of the attractions in the area and around. Very well maintained site. Would certainly use again when in area.

What a gem of a find. A lovely little site tucked away from the rat race. Forest walks all around and a short drive from the New Forest.
Only two loo's and two showers, only a short wait at peak time though. Wildlife all around.
All the essentials of modern life a short drive away in Verwood. An ideal spot for us for weekend breaks. We will be back for sure
