July 2004 Didn't realise this one was listed here! Found it by chance and stopped over for one night on way back from Cornwall, before going on to Lytton Lawn (I think). Wish we had stayed here for the extra days. Very friendly people, lovely field overlooked by their house (but not so as it was intrusive). Not many people pitched there.
Lovely small and immaculate showers/toilets and a very reassuring welcome with tea for 2 stressed out familes with kids!
However, absolutely nothing for the kids to do, but so much so near that wouldn't be a problem.
Worth a visit and would go back again for sure.

May 2005 Had a lovely nights stay at this very rural campsite. The site is next door to a working farm in two fields, the first field has mains hook ups and gently slopes which was fine for our camper van, the second field is much steeper and was only used for tents on our visit. The toilet block is simple but very clean. The site is in a great location for walkers with paths going off in all directions right from the site gate. The owner Brian is an excellent host and happily provides you with loads of information about the surrounding area.

October 2004 Just come back from a wonderful weekend at Hillside. The owner, Brian, is a really nice, helpful chap. If you are looking for a peaceful site in lovely surroundings (literally on the edge of Ringwood forest) you won't find better. Wonderful walks in the forest just up the bridleway from the site. You can walk into Verwood from site following the track that runs alongside.
The butchers in the village sells superb meat, traditionally hung, cheeses and eggs and Brian has negotiated a 10% discount for his guests. The Heavy Horse Centre is just down the road.
What with the forest next to the site, Brian and his two lovely horses and the owls hooting away we had yet another lovely stay at Hillside

September 2004 Spent 4 very enjoyable nights here. The welcome from the owners is wonderful, free Tea or Coffee, making a relaxing start to the holiday. Although not a big site there is all you need and the hot water is free. As you are in the countryside expect animal noises, Owls at night and a Cockrill that crows in the morning to name two but as an ex-country girl it was nice to hear, reminded you there are still some unspoilt places left in this country.
It's a 20 minute walk to Verwood thru' country lanes where there are the usual village shops and a Safeway (however as this is not in the centre, wouldn't recommend walking to it). There is also a phone box, useful as the mobile phone reception is not much good but better in the village. All in all this site is well worth a visit.
