Just back from a few days at Hillside. This is a great place, Brian & Diane are great hosts, very friendly at all times (they did a wine & cheese party for us all on saturday !)
The showers as toilets are very clean,at busy times a few mins wait to use them.
The site is a hillside so some pitches can be on a slope, all be it small. Plenty of space between pitches too and large areas for the children to play in, but no play park.
If you want a great time, with a bit of peace and quite then this is the place to go. We loved it and so did the girls. The weather was not too good to us, but there are lots of walks from the site, so next time for them ! All in all a great few days.

Just back from a week here, before the bank holiday. Had a fantastic time, this is a lovely traditional campsite in a beautiful location. We had a lovely welcome on arrival from Brian and Di, who now assists him. Brian had a wealth of local information for us. The kids loved going up and 'helping' Di with the horses and meeting Peaches and Tiny too.
We enjoyed walking into Verwood and discovering deer in the surrounding fields at dusk on the way back. Loved the fact you had to make your own entertainment and there was ample space to play with the kids and they loved the freedom to roam and mix with other children there too.
The facilities are basic but were kept clean, the showers great and we had no problems with access to either apart from the odd early morning need for the loo at the same time as lots of others!
I would recommend this site to those who want a relaxing time and don't want lots of on-site entertainment thumping on into the night. We all loved it and intend to go back. Many thanks to Brian and Di and the rest of the team.

Just returned from a lovely couple of days camping. The area and campsite itself is lovely. The toilets did get a little yukky and seemed only to be cleaned once a day. This may be normal as its only our second time camping and the first place we went to was an c&c club site and was spotless.
There was also rubbish piled up at the side of the field but I was told that was going to be moved.
We will definitely be returning to the area and will try another campsite.

We stayed here for a 2 night break, and what more can I say than what a fantastic site, just what we wanted.
The kids had a fab time playing with other children and adults, no need for a kids club.
The facilities are basic, but they are fine for what we needed and never had to queue for any longer than a couple of minutes for a shower or toilet. They were clean and on both days we were there, someone had cleaned them.
We ventured out to the local Morrisons and Tesco for some basics, and the voucher from Brian for the butchers was a great help, Thanks.
Looking forward to going back for a week in Augus

What a fantastic site! We spent several days here at May half term (and extended our stay by an extra day as we enjoyed it so much). It is what I would call a 'traditional' campsite with no fancy entertainments, noisy activities or even a playground - it really is just a few fields - but we loved the tranquillity and our children loved the freedom to explore and play in the camping fields and surrounding woods. Although it feels quiet, it is only a 5 minute drive from Verwood where there are local shops, a supermarket, pubs & restaurants (all of which seem to offer money off if you are staying at Hillside!) and a 30 minute drive from Poole. The facilities at the site are excellent - they were cleaned every day & the showers were always hot. We would highly recommend Hillside for anyone who wants a proper old fashioned campsite with modern facilities. We would definitely go back.

Stayed here for Whitsun week with family (tent). Apart from a small hiccup with the booking (booked in Jan requesting hook ups, none available on arrival) we had a lovely week. Brian, the owner, made up for this with a lovely bottle of wine and EHU from the BH Monday when all the weekenders had left.
The location is perfect for walking & wildlife - woke up to the sound of a Cuckoo one morning. The little people in our group went on a night time ramble and saw deer, fox, rabbits and bats. If you take a good OS map of the area the walking around Verwood / Ringwood is great especially over to Alderholt through Cranbourne Common with the Churchill Arms at the end of it (good food)! The walk into Verwood along the track from the campsite brings you into the town and all manner of shops are accessible - Tesco, Spar, various banks, Pharmacy, Butchers (lovely ham)and various takeaways - Indian, Pizza and Chinese.
We also ventured down to the coast to Mudeford, took 20-25 minutes down B road where there is ample parking / shingle bit for dogs owners (dogs not allowed on beach May-Sept) handy pub by car park.
The facilities have all recently been upgraded and this week the disabled shower room was finished. Lovely powerful, hot, free showers, good washing up facilities etc. Info boards with local info and takeaway details (free delivery to site from Indian)
You will need leveller blocks if you are in a MH/caravan as apart from the very bottom part of the first field there is a slope but not too much of a problem.
The track up to the site is a track and therefore needs to be taken slowly and beware of low branches / horse riders etc. Across from the site there are fresh eggs for sale at the farm. Gas is available on site.
If you want a site that is relaxed, in the heart of the country, a friendly owner and good, clean basic facilities then this is for you.

My boyfriend and I stayed here just before the May bank holiday and it was absolutely lovely. Its a very quiet site surrounded by trees and farm land with great wildlife. We didn't find the entrance lane too bad, but we only have a small car.
We had booked the honeymoon pitch (cue lots of sniggering) which was by itself at the very top of the site. A steep drive up in the car but absolutely perfect when we were there. We were really glad to be there as it was quiet for a couple of nights but then got really busy for the bank holiday weekend. However, everyone quietened down at night which was great.
Brian, the owner, was absolutely lovely, very friendly and helpful and supplied us with a map of facilities in the area and a voucher for a free lb of sausages at the local butcher - they were absolutely delicious.
Other people have commented on the facilities - well, they've just been redone! One of Brian's regular guests has done the work and they're now all beautifully tiled. There was masses of hot water and the shower rooms are big enough to get the entire family in. Only 2 of each but there weren't really any queues.
This is a lovely site and I can't wait to go back.

Had a great time at Hillside. It is a REAL campsite for REAL campers. If you want a kids club to look after your children while you get smashed at the bar go to Haven or Butlins. This place cannot be faulted. Nice clean facilities and a friendly owner who couldn't do enough to help. It is perfectly situated for access to both the New Forest and the beaches. It is very well priced and doesn't do the stupid 3 night minimum that seems to have crept in lately even though it was bank holiday weekend.

The site is in a beautiful location but a little hard to find as the signage is small and obscured by overgrown bushes.
The entrance is down a very bumpy and rutted farm track with huge potholes. Many of the campers commented on the poor entrance road which with a little work could be improved greatly which would be a great help, especially for those towing.
On arrival there had been a mix up with our booking but Brain, the site owner, did try to be accommodating never the less. The only problem is that the site on which the caravans are placed is very sloping and it was impossible to set up our twin axle van. The only 2 level sites in the field were occupied.
Eventually we managed to find a temporary pitch overnight but had to move the following day once a more level pitch was vacated. We were not alone is struggling to level the van and maybe some attention needs to be paid to the sloping end of the site is they hope to put caravans or motorhomes here.
The facilities are functional and clean but in need of modernisation. There are two showers and toilets for the campsite but there didn't seem to be any problem with queue's. However, during our stay there was a problem with the sewage system meaning all the facilities and chemical disposal point were out of action for a couple of days. Not so much of a problem for us but no fun for the people in tents !
The information on the campsites literature and website indicated the site was 20 minutes from the beaches - in reality it they were one hour away which meant we spent far more time in the car than we has expected, the literature and website need to be updated on this point as it is misleading. However, there are many attractions in the surrounding area and the scenery is beautiful.
The take away pizza service was great, we didn't try the Indian but heard good things about it.
Overall, the site has great potential but without modernisation and improvement to the caravan pitches and access road we would not return.
