This site was booked last minute for a weekend break. It lived up to it's 5 star rating. It's clean, tidy and extremely well looked after. The staff couldn't do any more for you and made us feel very welcome. The whole feel of the place made you relax and the surrounding area was simply beautiful. There were a few large groups during our weekend but noise wasn't an issue as the field around which you pitch your tent was massive. The pitches were huge and the amenity block was spotless. Our dog was well catered for with plenty of dog bins around the site and an attractive walk along the edge of the site and into fields beyond. What more can be said apart from I'm sure we'll return as soon as we can. Thank you.

We booked this site on a recommendation from a friend. The reception desk is very friendly and you feel welcome straight away.

The site was busy when we turned up, but it is well laid out. Super huge pitches, the biggest I've seen yet. Plenty of space for our large Outwell tent, plus with some handy windbreaks we managed to fashion an enclosed garden for our dog.

Quite a few water points and bins located around the site, which were emptied regularly through the day.

Toilets and shower block were immaculate all weekend. Outside the block there are facilities for washing dishes, plus a separate sink to wash and prep vegetables and fruit - which I thought was a nice touch.

The playground and games room were well used by my two dears, 12 & 9. They said it was cool.

There is a small shop in reception selling the normal bits and pieces.

A few minutes drive away is Sidley, with a Lidl and Aldi, and about 5-10 minutes away is the Hastings industrial estate boasting a tescos, next etc

While on site it rained heavily for a few hours, but once it stopped there was no drainage issues at all.

I highly recommend this site, such friendly people who run a wonderful site. We have booked again for August bank holiday, and will undoubtedly return year on year.

Our first visit with van so far south so after a long journey we followed their excellent directions onto the site. Their lane is quite narrow expecially through a gate halfway up but it is short and well worth it.

We were given a really warm welcome and a map of the site with our pitch marked. It was easy to find and HUGE. Caravan, car, awning and still big grass area. We liked the way that owners seemed to allocate pitches leaving gaps so as we were in a quiet period we were not surrounded. The facilities are excellent with free wifi this year. Pity the cafe was closed but hopefully a new chef will soon be found. Little shop and good laundry added to making this a really good site. Path nearby to dog walk and staff who worked tirelessly to keep the site in excellent condition are pluses so much that we decided to stay on and they were happy to make sure we could keep our pitch.

Plenty to do nearby and we can't wait to return.

We have stayed at this campsite twice. Once last year in July with our 2 grandsons and this year just the 2 of us, as we were so impressed with the site.

The toilet block, playground and plots are excellently maintained which makes for a very enjoyable holiday.

The site is well positioned for interesting days out in the surrounding area.

We have visited here on a number of occasions and every time it is excellent.

The staff are really helpful, there is a play ground and games room for kids, a big you shape in the middle of the field that the kids can play football, cricket fly a kite etc along with the adults !

Showers and toilets are A1 new modern and clean to a great standard.

The takeaway shop will deliver to your van an array of snacks/dinners which is really great if you arrive a little late, as we did so no need to cook on the first night. We ordered food as we arrived and then set up just in time 20mins later for food to be delivered.

There is an on site shop that has essentials and also a tesco 10 min drive away. It's also dog friendly with plenty of facilities and walk areas.

Lots to visit locally this is one of our favourite sites and a credit to the owners.

One small note is no arrivals before 2 pm and leaving by 12pm as access is a single track lane off the main road. Never had an issue but work noting if you arrive early to call the office and they will check the lane for you as they have for us before.

Our family has just returned from a weeks stay at Chestnut Meadow, this was our first visit to the south east area of the country, we really liked Bexhill and the surrounding area. We were very late arriving due to extensive roadworks and holdups but were warmly welcomed and shown straight to our pitch.

The only way to describe the pitches is. Flat and HUGE! They are well defined and the majority of the pitches are accessed directly from the access road. There was a severe thunderstorm during our second night with torrential rain but the pitches and the whole site drained exceptionally well and caused no lasting problems.

The toilet facilities are very very clean, well stocked and I particularly liked the cubicles with private sinks, although the usual line of communal sinks is provided as well.

There is always plenty of hot water provided both in the showers and the covered outside dish washing facilities. Also the two Elsan points were discreet, positioned at the rear of the toilet block and were always very clean, this is also due to our fellow campers who obviously appreciated the overall cleanliness and did not abuse the facilities, something we have encountered at other campsites.

All the staff are extremely welcoming, knowledgable and friendly and the lady who delivered our takeaway in an insulated bag direct to our motorhome was really lovely.

I really cannot fault this campsite and will be definitely be returning.

A big thank you to everyone at Chestnut Meadow.

Just returned from a one night stay, with a view to returning next year! What a wonderful campsite. The customer service was excellent from the telephone booking, to the staff on site during our short stay.

The plots are large and well organised with a green in the centre for ball games, which gave a memorable evening joining other families for a cricket match!

The games room is a great idea and very popular and the takeaway service a brilliant idea. The food is cooked on site and delivered hot to your tent!

The toilets and showers were modern and clean.

A perfect campsite for families, as small and quiet and no loud noises late at night.

We have just come back from a lovely stay at Chestnut meadows.

This is great site, immaculately kept, organised, very large pitches and the best washrooms we have ever used. Also very friendly and helpful staff.

The site is great for families, many pitches looking onto a central playing filed, play park, inside games room and a take away café.

I would highly recommended and will be returning.

This was our first visit to the UK so we don't have any UK experiences to compare with, but we camped all over Europe for many years so we do have some other experiences to base our review on.

Staff: very friendly and helpful. Not only on site, but also with regards to communication before visiting: very prompt and concise answers.

Pitches: very large, amongst the largest we experienced in all the years we are camping. We had a hard-standing pitch, and even after heavy rain the water disappeared in less than 5 minutes. Don't forget special pegs since I wasted 20 of them (but if you use nail-types you'll be fine). Pitches are level. But no bushes, hedges or anything so if you need any protection against the sun or neighbours, don't forget your windshield or awning. We knew this upfront, so no complaints, but compared to other camp sites this was less appreciated.

Toilet block: very clean, never had to wait for showering, washing, toilets. My wife however had to wait several times, but we believe this was due to certain guests who took all children (boys and girls) to the womens block. The last two weeks this did not occur. But this wasn't really a problem because waiting time was never longer than on other sites. Good facilities for disabled guests.

Facilities for kids:

No swimming pool, but we didn't care about that. Nice games room with well maintained games, could be used when paying a small deposit, excellent! A lot of space for kids to play since there is a central playing field, easy to keep an eye on the kids. A lot of kids with scooters and bikes, we never experienced this as an issue, but if you really really like a quiet place you should probably look elsewhere.

Location: very nice. Not far from the beach (5-10 minutes with car), easy to park the car close to the beach (and for free). A lot of shops/supermarkets nearby (5-10 minutes). Relatively close to touristic sites. In my opinion very nice surroundings with sea, forest and hills (hills as seen by Dutch).

What to like less: certain guests were quit noisy (early in the morning and late at night), luckily most of them staid for a shorter period. But it seems that some people do not understand that camping also means that you have to respect certain rules. As mentioned before: the pitches were big, but no form of dividing bushes between the pitches so some kids rushed around your tent on too close distance for my liking. You can't blame the kids, but maybe the parents. But at least I now understand why we were one of the few without windscreen fences around our pitch. ;-) Another thing I did not really like was that there were hardly any other guests than English. Now pls. Don't get me wrong: the vast majority of English people I know are very nice, but a more international atmosphere would have been nice. Maybe we just weren't very lucky with our neighbours but they were very much on their own. This was really a difference with our experiences on campings in Europe. But this isn't anything the owners can do about, and since you, the reader, most likely will be English, you basically don't care. ;-)

But all in all, a very good camping. The only smaller gripes are related to some guests and the fact that the site has no trees/bushes but basically is a big field of grass.
