Just returned from a 5 day break. Great campsite. The staff were warm and friendly, nothing was to much trouble, even fixed my gas stove when it was being grumpy! Pitches were large, showers were clean and hot. Fab play area for the kids and free indoor games room with plenty of activities and all free! Restaurant on site had a take away service and eat in option we choose to eat in, had one evening meal and a breakfast on both occasions the food was good. We will be back.

What a fantastic site!
This was our first camping trip as a family and we couldn't have picked a better campsite.
The people who own the site and all the staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful and are rightly very proud of their site.
The facilities are great, the toilets and shower block spotlessly clean, excellent indoor and outdoor play facilities for the kids and the food in the cafe was better than a lot of restaurants that we've been to and at a fraction of the price.
Wifi available on site, electric hook up, this was more like glamping than camping!
Lots to do in the area, we managed to get to Hastings, Eastbourne, Camber Sands (best beach) and Knockhatch adventure park for the kids was fantastic and only £32 for a family of 4, a great day out.
We couldn't recommend this site more, we will definitely be back.

We have just got back from our second trip to chestnut meadow, we were very happy to be back the staff were all very helpful. It was our daughters birthday while we were there and they made a birhtday cake for her, we had dinner in the cafe which the food is great and very good prices too (i don't normal say much about the food being a cook myself but it is very good) and all the staff sang happy birhtday for her. They really go the extra mile here and it makes for a lovely place to stay. The bathrooms were always clean and nice size showers with lots of hot water even when it is busy. Lovely size pitches and feels very safe too. The children liked the play ground and the hall. We all had a great time. Thank you to all at chestnut meadow.

We can not recommend this site enough. The staff were fantastic, the bistro/cafe on site fantastic, especially as my daughter is vegan and their help to accommodate her was excellent. If the cafe closed, there are takeaway menu's available from reception, who deliver to site, if you are a glamper not a camper.
The facilities were outstanding, kept pristine and always hot water for showers.
For the dog owners, the walk from the campsite to the National Trust Forest is good, only slight snag if you have more than one dog and you are walking on your own, the second stile is harder to negotiate as the dogs have to go under the adjoining fence and need to be kept on lead as livestock often in the field you have to cross.
The highest recommendation we can give is that we will be going back next year!

Fantastic site !
Excellent site well maintained, great food, excellent value for money and very tasty ! ( especially the pancakes and bacon!) Really helpful and friendly staff. Great for all of the family, good facilities, for the kids to run off all that energy, well kept games room and park, and a shop stocked with everything that you would need. Clean toilets and nice hot showers that are free !
Close to lots of places to visit, just round the corner from the beach.
We stayed here a week in our tent and I didn't want to leave, am already looking to book up a week for next year.
Thanks everyone at Chesnut meadow we had a fab time with you, see you next year :-)

What can I say, this is the best site we have ever visited and we cannot recommend it enough!
The staff are very friendly and extremly helpful.
The pitches are massive leaving us plenty of room even with a large tent, a trailer and a 4x4!
The facilities are excellent, laundrette was well equipped and spotless, the toilets and showers we maintained to an amazing standard. The cafe was wonderful, food was excellent and very reasonable considering the huge portions.
The indoor and outdoor play areas were excellent for the kids as was the large space in the centre of the site which saw lots of kite flying and water fights!
We stayed for 2 weeks and genuinely did not want to come home!
There is so much to do in and around the area and we were lucky to be there during the Eastbourne Airshow and were treated to seeing a lancaster bommber fly extremely low over the site!
We will definitely be back next year and can't wait!

I chose this campsite based on the reviews on this site to take my girlfriend for her first camping trip. It was a complete success!
The staff were friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble (including jump starting my car after I accidentally ran the battery flat!).
My girlfriend's biggest concern about camping was the cleanliness of the facilities. This need not have been a worry because they were spotless, plentiful and complete with hot water and nice showers - she says that they were in better condition than those at her gym!
The campsite was quiet, we stayed during school time. The pitches were a good size and drained well.
We didn't eat in the cafe but had some takeaway apple pie which hit the spot. Prices were reasonable. The on site shop sold the basics and have a morning newspaper ordering service.
We were able to get a later check out (by 6pm pending availability) for £5.
All in all a great, relaxing stay. We will be returning, hopefully with some better weather!

This was our first time camping with our 22 month old daughter. The site was fantastic very well presented and the grounds were beautifully ain't aimed.
Toilet block extremely clean and well presented, we used the family wash room, it had everything it needed, hot showers, clean, a heater which we didn't need. The main shower area was also immaculate, it had hair dryers and mirrors.
Washing facilities good for preparing food and washing up.
The cafe food was good, large portions and reasonably priced.
Good play area for my daughter to play in.
Staff on site very friendly and helpful.
Overall our stay was fantastic and has been a great introduction to camping, wish this site was closer to home!

We visited Chestnut Meadow to introduce our 4 year old daughter to camping. Unfortunately the weather wasn't too kind to us but we all had a fantastic time.
The staff placed us away from any groups to make it easier. The grounds and amenities are fantastic and very clean. The cafe does great food even for a 4 year old with allergies to dairy, chicken and turkey. The games hall keeps children entertained even in poor weather.
The team on site were so friendly and helpful we aim to go back again and again.

Fantastic site! Owners have thought of everything, with electric hook-up and water tap within a few metres of pitch (no long hike to find taps!). No problems with getting bogged in as pitches have plastic gridding stuff underneath grass.
Lots to do for kids (3+) with great outdoor play area (lots of obstacle courses) but also huge indoor hut with free table football, air hockey, mini snooker, table tennis & connect 4 (equipment lent from reception). Beautiful fields and woods surrounding site - path runs alongside of site that leads to fantastic meadow 5 mins away with breathtaking views (need wellies if been rainy).
Liked the idea of the safety barrier to only allow access for people staying on site. Smooth, wide path running around site (easy access for vehicles/caravans etc & grandchildren loved cycling on it!).
Lovely cafe/restaurant on site too with reasonable prices (breakfast available from £2. 99!) + Hungry Horse Pub within walking distance with cheap & cheerful menu.
Loved the 'green' attitude of the owners (lots of unmowed areas with wildflowers for attracting insects - very pretty effect). We will definitely be back!
