We have just returned from a short break at this site. The weather was awful, rain 3 days out of 4, but we were very impressed with Chestnut Meadows. Directions to the site were good & it was well signposted & easy to find. The driveway is a little narrow, which might be a problem with a large unit.
Positives:
Staff are very helpful & nothing is too much trouble. The pitch we were allocated was unsuitable, there was no problem moving to a better one.
The shop/reception area is welcoming, sells basics & has local information. There is a bus stop right outside the site entrance, if you want to venture on public transport.
The shower/toilet, washing up facilities etc are wonderful, the best we have found so far. They are ultra modern, clean & warm. It was a wet & busy weekend so facilities were well used & got a bit mucky.
The site is very dog friendly. There is a lovely walk down footpath adjacent to the site, but beware of cow field & the bull.
Although we do not have children, the site is very family friendly. There are indoor & outdoor play areas & central green for playing football etc. Many of the children had fun cycling around the roadway quite safely.
The site felt secure as entry is accessed by a key card barrier.
Negatives:
There is a cafe but it has limited opening times, so we didn't get to try it out.
It was very busy at the weekend, so not the most peaceful of sites. But campers are asked to keep the noise down between 11pm & 7. 30am.
There are not many facilities within walking distance, nearest shop & pub are a short drive away.
We would highly recommend Chestnut Meadows & intend to return soon.

We stayed at Chestnut Meadow for four days, we were given a very warm welcome by the staff who were very helpful and shown to our pitch, which I could only describe as huge, it wasn't just our pitch that was huge all of the pitches appeared to be very large.
The site in general is well laid out with a modern clean toilet/shower block, a decent shop good play area and a games room, although we didn't use the cafe it appeared nice and even sold beer and wine etc,
The weekend we stayed was very busy lots of families and good mixture of tents caravans and motorhomes, everything went quiet at 2300 hrs at night and all in all everything was peaceful enough at night, I think this is nice site, well located and geared up for families, would definitely go back.

I have to say we've found our perfect campsite here!
Pitches: huge, electricity point close enough, unlike other sites, enough room to park 2 cars if you need next to a big tent like ours, enough comfortable separation from your neighbours if you need - or ability to camp together in a group.
Facilities: Toilets were modern, clean, tidy, spacious, plenty of washing up area, loads of hot water for everything, showers clean with a curtain to keep clothes dry and lots of hanging pegs for everything.
Play area: great for our kids who like football, cricket and their bikes - they could easily have gone down other sites routes and put another ring of tents in but it would ruin the space for the games - which is a huge appeal to most of the campers here.
Cafe/shop/staff: Loads of staff on duty, all wearing visible uniform shirts so you knew who was who, very friendly each and every one of them. Great little shop not overpriced on things like sweeties which kept the kids very happy with their limited pocket money. Cafe was FAB! we had a huge breakfast, homecooked, enormous portions. Take away chips in the evening to go with steaks we bought was perfect. Again priced very well - you don't pay a premium for it like other sites.
This site is perfect for families and those camping with others in the main field area, and those who want more peace have the pitches on the outer ring of the site separated by the access road which provides a breaker.
Fully booked the weekend we went, still felt spacious.
We will be booking here as our favourite site for years to come I am sure.

We visited Chestnut Meadow for the first time over the jubilee weekend. I have to say we were really impressed by the site. It is family run and has a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere. It also has a superb café, great play area for the children and some nice walks. The layout is perfect for families, centred around a playing area and our son was making new friends straight away – and we could keep an eye on him from the tent. The toilets were really clean and light. Everything felt like that extra bit of effort had been put in.
Although the weather wasn’t brilliant we managed to get out to Eastbourne on Saturday, had friends (and their 4 boys) over on Sunday (the sun shone in the afternoon) and just enjoyed the site itself on Monday.
Chestnut Meadow – highly recommended and hope to return later in the year.

Just returned from a very windy weekend at Chesnut Meadow. Apart from the wind, this weekend was excellent, from the welcome we received at reception to the wave goodbye as we left. All the staff were helpful and always seemed to be busy doing something or another.
The site itself was about a quarter full due to the weather conditions seeing a few tents off, this meant we had a choice of a few pitches. All the pitches seemed to be well drained with some on reinforced hard standing.
The on site cafe/restaurant was excellent and again the staff were great and very friendly. It was also great that they allowed us to take our dog in as this was his first trip under canvas (nylon) and he was not keen being left in a very windy tent.
Can't wait for our next trip to Chestnut Meadow.

Grass and hardstanding pitches for caravans, tents and motorhomes with electric option. Modern toilets and showers and multiple washing up facilities.
Small shop onsite and pub/restaurant at the entrance. The River Medway flows through the site, providing idyllic waterside pitches. Just got back from a VERY windy trip to Chestnut meadow. Despite coming back one evening to a ruined tent the site was top notch. Staff were very helpful and friendly (waved us down and offered assistance when they gave us the agony message about our tent). There was plenty for the kids and all facilities were clean and tidy. Nice big pitches (there were two families = two pitches and plenty of room for a gazebo too) which were well maintained. All in all a great site with a cafe that is worth a visit during a wet and windy june visit :-)

A superb campsite the best I have been to in 15 years of camping. Super clean toilets/showers nice big pitches lovely cafe, nice play area for the kids, owners and staff brilliant. Nice views from site towards Eastbourne, good walks from site close to Bexhill for the beach and town. Battle is close by too for the abbey, Hastings is only 20/25 mins drive, Eastbourne 25/30 mins drive. Buses pass by on the Ninfield Rd , two an hour to Bexhill one an hour to Battle one an hour to Hailsham and Eastbourne. But no buses in evenings or Sundays, nearest bus then is a long walk in to Sidley
Well stocked shop on site,
Everyone is made to feel really welcome.
Once again this is a superb site 5 star plus

Absolutely wonderful and great to be back! As friendly as ever and despite horrendous weather we had a fabulous time. Had breakfast in the cafe a couple of times as it was just too wet to cook and it really is outstanding. Also sampled all Ricky's cakes (well it would be rude not to) and all tasted even better than they looked, and they looked amazing! (chocolate marble is the new favourite though!)
The surroundings are beautiful and great dog walks through the fields/woods. Also a geocaching area for anyone up on that.
First visit of many! Would recommend to anyone considering!

We were lucky enough to be one of the first guests for 2012, and used the weekend as opportunity to try out our new tent after retiring the old one last year.
Arrival. Only once before have we felt such a warm welcome on arrival. Big smiles and friendly information are exactly what was received and needed after a drive down.
Pitches. The pitches are great size, level and well mown, our pitch easily accommodated our horizon 8 plus porch and car with room to spare, electric points were close to pitch,
Meaning only a short ehu lead needed.
Toilets/ Showers. Immaculate, well laid out, hot hot hot showers which were powerful, good sized change cubicles.
Play area, no complaints from our 7 year old. In door area with table tennis, air hockey ect is a lovely touch.
Cafe. Open for breakfasts and evening meals.
We had an evening meal for 3 with drinks and it came to £32. Good quality hearty food. The home made cakes are to die for especially the carrot cake.
The site consists of one circular road, which even if the site was busy would still be great for scooter, bikes and skateboards, one of those sites where the kids could go exploring and you have no fear that they can go too far or get themselves up to mischief.
All in all a great little site, that we will return to without doubt.

This was our first outing in a caravan and to Chestnut Meadow Camping and Caravanning Park.
First thing I want to mention is how helpful all the staff were and always wiling to help and give advise.
We were greeted with a smile on arrival and a really helpful chap called Steve showed us to our pitch and helped us to push the caravan back.
The site is barrier controlled which is good as as well as offering a degree of security it also keeps the kids safe on their bikes and scooters.
The important bits:
The shower blocks were immaculate and cleaned really often. Always seemed tidy. Hot water was free, pretty instant and plenty of it any time of the day. The showers are push button and had a decent pressure to them. They did not have any temperature control on them but they were just the right temperature for use adults and our 9 year old son.
Along the outside wall of the shower blocks there is the washing up area. Although in a caravan we did use this one evening and again found it clean and tidy with both general waste and a recycling bin for food scrapings.
Chestnut Meadow have (in my opinion) the best Chemical disposable facilities I have ever used. They made doing 'that job' much more pleasant! They were the right height and did not give me a bad back. There was even hand wash dispenser there. Brilliant!
On the subject of recycling there were plenty of rubbish facilities for general, bottles and recycling waste. Plus watch hook up pitch bad a recycling bucket - nice touch.
There is a tarmac road that runs around the site in a one way loop with small speed humps which my son loved to jump on his scooter!
In the centre of the field there is a large open play area for kids and adults alike.
Another nice feature is an inside play area for the kids, complete with Table tennis, air hockey and pool table. All free (small returnable deposit for cues, bats etc). Some of the kids did abuse this facility but this is not down to the staff but parental control. But this did not cause us any problems.
The Cafe was really great. We had a meal there the first evening. Really good food that was exceptionally well priced and a good selection of beers!
The reception doubled us as a small shop for basic supplies and managed to separate my son from his pocket money!
All in all a big well done to Andy and Ulenah, who in a relatively short time have really made Chestnut Meadows a winning site.
We will be back again soon.
