Excellent site, well kept, clean and very friendly/helpful site managers. We were there for the 1940s weekend and will definitely return for a longer break.

The area is stunning on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with lots of walking options from site.

The site is located and easy walk into Leyburn which has good facilities.

Not a site for technology, no WiFi, no phone signal, very limited TV signal too. With up to 100 pitches, four toilets each did make for some queuing at times.

The walk into Leyburn can be varied by going down the hill a short way into Harnby then a footpath to the right goes over fields to Leyburn, nicer views and only a few minutes further. Wardens were all very nice folk, pitches deep in gravel, but OK with a mover, might struggle without, as siting of some pitches across the road means reversing van in would be a problem.

The only safe access is to turn in front of the Pheasant pub, then it's only 100 yards on the narrow lane, the Sat Nav route via Leyburn takes you along a long narrow lane, which was closed anyway on our visit.

We stayed here for a long weekend and had a lovely time.

This site is absolutely spotless, just like all other Caravan Club sites we have used to be honest. There are ducks freely roaming on the site and the sound of song birds in the morning is lovely. The toilet blocks are very clean, with plenty of hot water. The site was busy when we stayed however there was no problem using the facilities, i. E no queuing.

The location is beautiful and is situated near the market town of Leyburn where there is a good supply of shops. Aysgarth falls are near by too, which are well worth a visit.

The Pheasant Inn pub, Harmby is close by and the beer there is excellent.

So all in all, a very pleasant stay. We are sure to be back.

Excellent location within walking distance of local amenities. Quiet, quarry site, helpful and friendly wardens. Bathroom facilities dated but spotlessly clean. Major negative- the filthy disgusting state of a few caravans/awnings on seasonal pitches. Clearly neglected, and not what I expect to see on any site - far less a Caravan Club site!. If seasonal pitches are to be provided, this should be with clear regulations regarding maintaining a standard. Had there only been pitches available adjacent to one of these offending caravans we would not have stayed. Completely unacceptable and will prevent us rebooking this site until this issue is rectified.

Well established site with good pressure hot showers!

Camping area is within an old quarry so regular tent pegs struggled to penetrate ground without bending - take some heavy duty ones! ;-)

Being in a disused quarry meant the campsite was well sheltered from the wind but this also meant we didn't see much sun for drying out (late summer)

Duty manager was a bit miserable interfering where he shouldn't but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our week in Yorkshire!

Will be returning to explore more just not from this campsite! :-)

This site is approached along a steep winding single track road, with viewing mirrors placed on the bends. Luckily we arrived after noon & did not meet anyone on it.

The site is in an old quarry and is terraced and has a lot of mature trees. Which provide shelter from the wind and sun.

On our first visit a few years ago we struggled initially to find a pitch we could level our motor home on. With this is mind on our arrival this time we intended to aim for the same pitch we had been on previously. But it was protected by a cone. We were informed it was being saved “because we have some big stuff arriving”. We were a little disappointed to see that the big stuff was actually only 7. 6m.

Size is relative. So if you are going with a van of this size it might be worth ringing to reserve a flat pitch.

We did find another pitch that was level, had the sun all through the day & was very sheltered from the strong wind we experienced.

We were allowed to make our own decision as to whether to reverse to the peg or drive on to it.

There was no road noise to speak of. The heritage railway runs 6 trains a day passed the site. The only noise to disturb you is the birds. The site is full of rabbits, birds & daffodils. Over all it is very tranquil.

There are a lot of seasonal caravans, which despite it being Easter were not occupied. We feel this spoils the look of a site.

The toilet block is kept very, very clean. It was also very warm with very hot water for the showers. The only down side is that it is showing its age and could do with a refurb. It is not up to normal CC standards.

Newspapers can be ordered at reception 10p delivery charge. Other essentials available to buy. Wardens were very helpful and friendly.

Leyburn is about a mile walk along metaled pavement, with a bus stop on the main road and passing the railway on the way. Also en-route to town is the Teapottery and Chocolate factory, both worth a visit.

In Leyburn food stores are a Co-Op store and Campbells (if Campbells don’t sell it you don’t really need it). Several pubs, chip shop, hardware/everything store and some outdoor clothing shops.

Lovely site teeming with wild life. We stayed 4 nights Tuesday to Saturday and it was nice and quiet, until Friday evening when the weekenders started to arrive then it really filled up. The wardens were fantastic, nothing too much trouble, really helpful. Shop sold basics, news papers to order.

The toilets and showers are dated but kept spotless by the wardens, ( some people forget to clean up after them selves. )

No play area but lots to keep little ones interested watching wild life, and nearby Forbidden Corner is a must, even for big kids. Nice walk to Leyburn, about 20 mins. You can get all you need or eat out. Pub 5 mins walk away, take a torch for return journey.

It rained a lot one night so some flooding on a couple of pitches, nothing that a few tons of gravel and improvements to drainage would not fix, but that needs the owners to provide funding. Remember this site is only managed by the caravan club.

Approach road is narrow, no passing places. No problem if you leave before 12 and arrive after 12. Tent area at top of site looked fairly level.

Would return, and will soon.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely site.

Pitched up on #61 *close to the disabled toilet* under a HUGE sycamore tree which blocked the little sun we did see this weekend, but that didn't bother us as it kept the inside of the van cool.

The site itself is beautiful and wildlife popping up at all hours of the day, it was great. Bunnies, Moorhens, Ducks, Hedgehogs, Pheasants, Owls *though only heard* and all coming very close to the van if coaxed with a little shredded wheat or bread, my son thought this was great.

Toilets were always spotlessly clean and fine not modern but they served their purpose well. However I would say a window in the disabled toilet wouldn't go amiss as it gets incredibly hot in there and the extractor fan doesn't really do a great deal.

Not much for kiddies to do on the site but there are plenty of places to visit, Forbidden Corner is a must, we all had much fun navigating our way around, getting incredibly wet, definite must for all ages. We visited Easby Abbey also, what a beautiful place.

The drive into the site is a little hairy, made 100 times worse on our arrival due to not being able to see far in front due to bad weather. Also our first time pulling a van and our sat nav brought us through Richmond and down the meanest looking bank in torrential rain, it made our journey there a little nerve wracking but coming home we came through Bedale to avoid it.

All in all it is a great site with friendly wardens and we will certainly be back again in the future. Free range eggs from the shop are delicious and a must for scrambled egg in the morning.

Our 2nd visit to this lovely site and we were not disappointed.

The friendly wardens work hard to keep the site looking clean and tidy, with recycling on site. Shower block spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water even though the site was pretty full over the weekend.

Pitches are on different levels, and most of them have electric hookup. There is a separate area for tents.

The site is run on behalf of the Caravan Club, but non members are welcome.

Lots of good walks in the area, and excellent bus service from nearby Leyburn.

Child friendliness only 9 out of 10 because there is no playground, but there's plenty of room for kids to run about or ride their bikes.

A lovely site with pitches on different levels, some of the pitches quite secluded. Toilet block was kept immaculately clean, with lovely hot showers.

The wardens were very helpful, and will order newspapers for you if you want.

Ducks and moorhens visited every day, from the little stream at the edge of the site.

15 minute walk into Leyburn where you can buy almost anything you could possibly need. The fish shop is one of the best we have ever tried!

There is a really good bus service in the area, so you can do a good walk then catch the bus back. We got the bus from Leyburn to Richmond, an interesting place with it's castle and the falls on the river Swale.

Lots of lovely walks in the area - Leyburn Shawl and Wensley is a super one! We spotted a kingfisher and a dipper on our walk down the river from Middleham to Wensley.
