We only wish it could have been longer. Without booking we turned up and luckily we were able to stay. The wardens were only to happy to accommodate us. The site is lovely, with lots of wildlife wandering around. The toilet and shower block were absolutely spotless, as was the whole site. Not far from Leyburn and other surrounding attractions it is the ideal place to stay. A smashing pub 5 minutes away called 'The Pheasant Inn' ended a lovely day for us. Well worth another visit to Lower Wensleydale.

This site very rambling fitting into an old quarry rather than regimentally laid out. It is uneven with dips and turns and very steep banks. Bizarrely with signs saying 'Steep bank' Pitches are of a good size nearly all under trees. There is plenty of wildlife, ducks birds, rabbits etc. I found only one facility block it was clean and had all you need but for some it could be a very long walk.
The approach is very narrow, twisting I would not like to meet another caravan on it. So please adhere to arriving and leaving times.
There is plenty to do in the nearby area.
Brymore Ice cream on the road to Masham was a delight 'Three scoops every time!'

Stayed for 5 nights in August.
Good points.
Usual 1st Class toilet/shower facilities you would expect from a CC site.
Pitches large and reasonably well spaced out.
Staff top drawer.
Site only managed by, not owned by CC.
Location very good. 1 mile from Leyburn, which has everything you will need. Also pub on your doorstep, although they don't serve food. Heritage railway runs along site, if you are into that sort of thing.
Bad points.
The site is situated in an old quarry, so there are no views of the beautiful Dales. It might not drain very well in heavy rain. Luckily we had fine weather all week.
One section of the road leading to the site is very narrow lane with walls/hedges on both sides. No chance of passing anything. Luckily you can see to the other end. However, once through the site gates, it gets worse. The internal approach is very steep and narrow. It also has a 90 degree bend in it, so you cant see what is coming up/down from the other end. Its not far, so you may prefer to send someone to the bend in the road as a spotter before ascending/descending. There is a small convex mirror too.
Not much to do for kids either, but it is a CC site, so what do you expect.
These points are minor for us. Would definitely recommend this site though. We would definitely return

Great site. Hard ground to pitch on take heavy duty pegs. But worth the effort as drainage is v.Good. We stayed over the august bank holiday week end had a good stay one of the owls that could be heard in the woods obligingly sat on a vacant pitch when we made our 1 a.M trek to the toilets{quite far need a torch.}it let us go right up to it must be used to strange people wandering the woods at the dead of night.Owls apart a very very quiet stay and the pitches are very sheltered in the old quarries where they are located. Will return

We were recommended this campsite from the farmer who owns the campsite at the Pheasant pub.
The site is mainly catered for caravans but has 3 small areas at the top of the quarry for tents. The areas are enclosed and private - we were lucky enough to be able to pitch all our party in one of these areas - 4 tents in total.
The toilets and showers are of a good standard as you would expect at a C&C Club site. There is a short walk to the toilet and shower block from the campsite area but this was not a problem.
The ground is hard due to the site being a former quarry.
The staff were friendly and helpful during our stay.
We walked into Leyburn which was about a mile, there is shops, pubs and places to eat. There is also a chocolate factory in the industrial estate and a water fall just over the road from the Pheasant pub.
All in all the site was lovely, lots of ducks, rabbits, and birds wandering around - even into our tent at times!
There maybe a danger that the camping area gets full if the other reviews are as good as mine!

The road in is a bit tight but the site is a haven for wild life (of the bird and animal kind). The toilets were kept clean but some of the men thought mopping a shower cubicle out after use was below them.Lots of nooks and crannies to pitch your van. We had 24hours of rain so some of the pitches flooded, we had to move pitch when the ducks started to swim under the car.(Drainage seems a problem on a lot of sites these days)the warden helped us move the van with his tractor. This site is not really suitable for kids in my opinion no play area and lots of steep banks. John at the Pheasant in keeps a lovely pint of Black Sheep but does not do food, dogs are allowed in the pub and are made welcome. The waterfall across the road after heavy rain is spectacular. Only a 20 min walk into Leyburn which has just about got all you will need. Did not use the car much at all in the 10 days we were there some nice walks off site.
We will be definitely returning to this site

Couldn't ask for more, beautiful site and surroundings, peaceful, spotless toilet and shower block, with plenty of free hot water. Ducks and their babies everywhere. Lots of places to visit nearby and layburn is only 2 minutes down the road so very convenient for shops. Perfect and highly recommended. We will certainly come back here.
1 very small minor was the tumble dryer in the laundry room, it took 3 goes and the laundry still wasn't dry.But everything else I couldn't fault.

A pretty site with ducks and rabbits roaming around. The toilets and showers were really nice.
There's no play area and this would make it more enjoyable for children. When you approach the site you have to take care as the road is narrow and bushes scraped our caravan on both sides.
Leyburn is a nice little town but sadly there isn't much to do. There is a nice pup within walking distance and you can get to the waterfall from there.
It's ok but I'm not fussed about going back. Aged 10

Lovely site, very peaceful. Toilet block very clean, showers free. There are three separate areas, only room for about 12 tents so its advisable to book. Ground is very stony so take some strong pegs. Owners friendly and there was no rush to leave on the Sunday, so felt it was value for money if only staying 1 night. We paid £13 for 2 adults and 2 children. Surrounding area lots to do and see. Looking forward to our next visit.

What a fantastic site, We were very sceptical when we read a couple of the reviews but we take it all back. The tent area is beautiful with drinking water and bins very close by, the toilets and showers were so clean it was worth the walk down the hill (which was only around 250yds away) apart from that the wildlife on the way down was fantastic! Tent pegs were a little hard to get in but there is a knack to it. Would go there again.
