We stayed at this so we could visit friends. What a lovely site with stunning views and well located. The facilities are clean and well kept. Although this was our first visit I am sure there will be many more.

Second visit to this lovely site. It's between Whitley Bay and Seaton Sluice and located right on the clifftop so there are excellent views. Great coastal walks, lovely pubs and St Mary's Lighthouse all accessible from the site. Facilities are spotless and staff welcoming. ,

This was our second stay at Old Hartley. This time it was as a base for us to attend two Rugby World Cup games at St. James Park. We were surrounded by avid New Zealand & Scottish supporters in their hired motorhomes, which was fun!
The site does feel a bit cramped at times but the general slope means that most people will get some sort of coastal view.
Again the wardens were most helpful and, even though they were the “relief” wardens, they were still knowledgeable about the area. All the facilities were what you would expect of a Caravan Club “main” site.
The local bus service was as efficient as before and Haymarket in the city centre was reached in under an hour. There are two providers and, if buying a day return, you must use the same one. I. E. The tickets aren’t interchangeable between bus companies.
When we previously visited we didn’t realise that the NCN 1 cycle route ran right past the site entrance. This then gives access to a mainly traffic free route northwards towards Blyth in amongst the dunes and Whitley Bay & beyond to the south.

We had a great few days on this little site, the units are well spaced out and cleverly put at an angle so most units have a sea view. The facilities are a little dated but clean and fine. There is easy access to the coastal path which leads to Seaton Sluice in one direction and Whitley Bay in the other. The site also has a lovely view of St Mary's Island/lighthouse which is accessible via a causeway at low tide. We didn't try the nearest pub the Delavel Arms because it looked a little dingy but we can highly recommend the food at the Kings Arms in Seaton Sluice which is approximately 20 mins walk from site. There is also a gorgeous beach at Seaton Sluice which our dogs loved. There is also a tiny beach near St Mary's Island depending on the tide times. I would say that the site is not very child friendly as there are no play facilities and high cliffs nearby.

Fantastic sea view and cliff top walks make up for site's drawbacks - only one fresh water tap (a climb to it at busy mh service point) and uneven pitches (levelling blocks a must). It is on a cliff top hill after all. Recommend nearish--by The Alnwick Garden with its huge treehouse/cafe and restaurant. Good for youngsters too.

Our second visit here and we love coming back, managed to bag number one pitch this time at the top of the site behind the wall.
Although we had a nice sunny weather, it was cold at night and very windy, gale force at times, lots of nice walks along the coast and out to the lighthouse.
We didn't patronise to local pub so unable to review their meals and prices,
Spotlessly clean, but dated shower block, recycling areas around site.
As mentioned before the motorhome service point is located on the hill on the way out and can block the way out, I have plenty of water hoses and was able to full my water tank from my pitch.
Can be very noisy overhead from landing aircraft, especially if the jets cut the corners on finals.
Really friendly staff, always on hand to help, nice wee basic shop for local eggs, milk. No daily papers.
Look forward to returning

Old Hartley is great site perched on the cliffs between Whitley Bay and Seaton Sluice. It makes a great base for walking as it's situated on the main coastal paths. Within walking distance are done excellent beaches and St Mary's Lighthouse. Whitley Bay is a traditional sea side resort town, but this site is nicely secluded from this.
Facilities on site are excellent - though the site is sloping, so you need to level your van. Staff on site very friendly and helpful.
Great little site!

The site is in a stunning position on the Coast, the site is clean, tidy and well maintained and easily accessible to the Coast paths and local transport.
The close-by Delaval Arms has a decent menu at a very reasonable price.
The price for large main courses, ample desserts, four glasses of red wine and coffees for two people came to £30.
The only gripe I have with this site is that almost all the pitches are not level and levelling blocks are required.
A few hours with a JCB, 40 tonnes of crush and run, a heavy roller, 20 tonnes of pebbles and a few days work would transform the pitches into excellent level areas that would be ideal for both Caravans and Motorhomes.
This site collects around £1, 500 a day when full during the High Season, and I imagine it is usually full at that time of year, and investing a proportion of the weekly income of over £10, 000 would be of benefit to all Members for years to come.
Why it hasn't already been done is, in my opinion, either short sighted or penny pinching and could turn a good site into an excellent one.

We have visited this site a number of times mainly because my daughter lives just round the corner at Seaton Sluice.
Its difficult to book this site, its almost always full. WE have only managed once to get the exact weekend we wanted. Book well in advance is my advice.
The site facilities are good but not among the best, most of the pitches are not level, you will need ramps. Its clean and tidy though.
There are a few pubs locally to eat, one just outside the entrance but I would walk down Seaton Sluice to the far end for a better choice.
If you get chance visit the chip shop in Blyth, it will be crammed with people but it served the best fish and chips I have ever had.

Nicest club site we have visited.
Stunning views of St Mary's light house.
The site is of the usual excellent standard offered by the Caravan club. Clean toilets, excellent showers, laundry etc.
Levelling blocks needed but you wouldn't get the views without. The site is very well laid out.
Children welcome but there is no children's play area.
Plenty of attractions e. G. The beach off site though.
Lots of walks from the site and within easy reach of Holywell Dene, Seaton Sluice, Seaton Deleval Hall. Good public transport to Whitley Bay, Blyth and Newcastle.
We had a wonderful day trip to the Farne Islands watching puffins, seals etc.
Pub next door offers a friendly welcome, cheap good food and is dog friendly.
Local people were all very welcoming and willing to chat.
