I visited this campsite in a 6 man tent in June with my mom, dad and boyfriend. We had a wonderful time. It was located directly onto the beach or with hilly mountains to the left. Only a 15 minute walk down the beach would get you to Chinese takeaways, shops, chippys, pubs and brean leisure park. On arrival the wardens were very friendly, as were over the phone. For the four of us to stay with a non-electrical hook up for 2 nights it cost £36. Was very good for the money! As it is situated in a very open place if it's windy- it's very windy which means sand can go everywhere and make it hard to put up the tent. We decided to go into burnham on sea which was nice as it had more things to do yet where we were were better. We also decided to go into Weston, bad idea. It was over priced and very busy. Don't waist your time. When going back I know to stay on the site or the beach and just enjoy the chill next time. The facilities were OK. For £5 which was refundable you could have a toilet and shower key which would stop beach guests using them. They were clean however if there is more than one person in the shower at a time it's like washing under a tap drip. The water was warm though. On the far side of the field there was a beach toilet which is easier to get to but shut at 8. The people on the camp were also very friendly and we had a barbecue and all had a good time. We don't own a dog but they were allowed on camp however they are very well behaved. It was overall a great holiday, very peaceful and relaxing. We loved it that much were coming again next week :)!

We just had a couple of days there on a lovely day it would of been lovely but the weather we had it was horrible the wind was really blowing and the van was getting blasted with sand and water. As for the toilet and showers I don't rate them at all the showers don't have a separate bit when you can leave your cloths while you have a shower so if not careful they get wet as well. We also had problem we were told to go on field 5 space 10 so we set up and because it was getting a bit late we left the awning till the next day I put it all up the following day and it was near to about 12 clock then was told very rudely we were on the wrong pitch so wasn't very happy why didn't they say before we set up in the first place

On a calm sunny day with a caravan up against the sea wall there is probably no better caravan site in the UK with unobstructed views over the Bristol Channel, and wonderful walks with or without dogs on the vast sandy beach, but in bad weather it must be the worst place in the UK. We were hit by a force 8 Westerly gale and even had difficulty opening the van door. The wardens were extremely helpful and friendly but not the reception staff who were the opposite. The toilet block is in an old farm shed and rather basic. I think the bad points outnumber the good points.

OK here goes, first visit was in May in a Bear Lake 6. Warden and his wife were fantastic, even lending us two wind breaks.
We then found out you could store a caravan across the road which could be towed out and returned to storage for a small fee each time you came down. That was it for me. We turned to the dark side and bought a caravan!
We have stored it since June and this week brought it home for some minor repairs and have had the most fantastic holidays this year. June, August and September plus friends who have also used it. Everyone loves this site The sea views are fantastic and there actually is a choice of toilet block. If you are of the 'fussy brigade' then there is a lovely toilet block past the seasonal pitches.
If you just want a shower that is hot and is free with plenty of hot water then the shower block closer to the touring area is perfectly acceptable.
I firmly believe it is the warden and his wife that make this such a lovely friendly site to use and that and the fantastic sea views is why so many people return again and again. We will be back in May.

Spectacular views. Friendly warden. Pretty windy. We put a wind break up which helped. Weather has been really good. The site is quite remote if you don't have a car. We didn't mind that at all. What you have got in walking distance is Brean Down, which is a lovely walk. There is a cafe at the bottom which also serves a limited choice of alcohol. A 10 minute walk away either via the beach or the road, is the Brean Down Inn which serves food lunchtime and reopens at 6pm and then serves food until 9. 30. The food is very nice. A little further up the road is The Beachcomber, which I can't comment about it as we didn't go in there, but it looks nice. There is a bus service to Weston and Burnham. The bus stop is about 20 minutes walk. There are also 2 shops Brean Down stores which is about 10 minutes walk and Bunnies which is on a caravan park but open to the public, and that's about a 20 minutes walk.
Now for the site. The 2 comments about toilet/shower blocks being dirty I have to disagree with. Yes the blocks by the Wardens accommodation are a little worn and very basic but we didn't experience any 'smells' or being dirty. They could do with a new mop though. There are also new toilet/shower blocks albeit they are portacabin type but they are far better.
You have great views and I think that is what you are paying for. There are steps down onto the beach so you can go for a walk or explore the caves and rock pools. We had a fab stay, infancy we extended our stay, so we must have enjoyed it.

Pro's: Amazing sea views
Friendly staff
Con's: very exposed and windy - awning came down.
Easy access for anyone who fancied it via the beach wall - make sure you keep things secure.
Very dilapidated toilets/showers.
Not especially clean toilets/showers.
Slightly smelly toilets/showers.
No grey water point - have to use the chemical toilet disposal point, not ideal.
The best thing about this site is the views which were stunning. Initially the very dated facilities didn't bother me, but after a while I didn't want to use them and washed/used toilet in the van as the state/smell got to me.
I feel this site could be greatly improved with a bit of TLC, as currently the great location is being let down by the poor state of the facilities etc.

This site doesn't have a lot of anything but what it does have more than makes up for it. The views, the location, the wardens.
To be honest I never wanted to ever go to Brean because I thought it would be chav City (which it was) BUT we had the most relaxing holiday for a years, the kids loved the freedom and so did our dogs.
The front of the caravan was pointing towards the sea, so we had a lovely view every morning come rain or shine.
The toilet block is old and stunk of the chemical waste which is right by the mens door. We never used the new block or looked inside so I can't comment.
Great location. Easy to get to. Loads of things for the kids to do if you go to further into Brean. Brilliant for bike rides on the beach. Nice and quiet location well away from the built-up campsites.
We are going back as soon as get the chance.

We booked quite late for the Bank Holiday weekend so had limited choice, however Channel View could get us in on the non-electric pitches. There was a little confusion over the booking as the pitches are 6m x 6m max tent size, and as ours is a 4m x 8m tent we were initially told we'd need 2 pitches. However, the lady I spoke to then said that 8x4 was equivalent to 6x6 so one pitch would be sufficient. We arrived on a windy day, so putting the large tunnel tent up was fun but we managed it. The site is very exposed so you don't get much shelter. The facilities are basic and a bit dated, but were pretty clean (though not spotless). Our stay was fine, apart from the foul-mouthed 'neighbour' in the middle of Sunday night (please guys consider families when having arguments at the top of your voice). There is a little supermarket a short drive away, plus a couple of pubs and a great Chinese/chippy (with the best chips we've tasted for years!). And it's nice not to be in the middle of Brean especially with 2 young children.

Not as nice as it looks on the website. This was the first time for us to stay here. I will be fair and start with positives, the views are stunning. Now for the bit they don't tell you, the site has two toilet and shower blocks both of which are really really dirty. I did see a lady clean them once who used the same filthy smelly mop in the toilet and then into the shower area. Everyone on site were complaining about the dirty facilities. Another issue the pitches are nowhere near level you need about 4 blocks under two of your caravan legs to get it somewhere near level. Would I go back ??? Never not even if it was free!

What can I say about Channel view. Love it, hubby loves it. I have a mad one on a Wednesday and phone him up and say can we go bream and he says only if its channel view, we love it that much. The owner always helps with the van getting it in, he is lovely and I do thank him for that. Its great to get up in the morning and open the blinds and see the sea, sand, the downs. The tea shop is very good, within walking distance. The smell of fresh scones cooking first thing in the morning as you walk the dogs down the beach are very tempting then back to the caravan for breakfast. Then you can go up to the market at the fun park about a mile up the road. The campsite is very well maintained and of a evening it's nice to sit back on your chair with a snuggle blanket, little camp fire going and watching the waves rolling in and looking up at the stars twinkle in the clear sky you may even see a shouting star, we did. All I can say is channel view a place where nothing is everything
