Been reading most of the reviews with interest, we first went to this site in 2000 [June] the site manager and his wife were called Mike & Annie, what a terrific couple these were, so helpful beyond belief.
My hubby was taken seriously ill 2003 so we were very limited on when we could travel down there, but when we went Mike was always there to help set the caravan up.
At the time Richard & Karen were farmers, but we could see that Karen wanted to go in a bigger way with the caravan park which is fine.
But we recently visited Brean and saw how big the site has grown since we last visited there, but on the the downside we could not beleive how much the pitch fees had grown also.
Summing up. Nice little site with no amenities other than toilets & showers, but prices are on par with the big sites etc parkdean/ burrows/ in cornwall.

Having just read the previous review I'd like to give my version. My husband, children, 2 dogs and myself have been going to Channel view since April 2006 on a very regular basis. Last year we had our caravan stored there and towed in and out when we requested but this year we have a seasonal pitch.
The main site is half seasonal and the rest tourers, 49 electric hook up points so if you phone to book you'll get one!
The toilet and shower blocks are not exclusive to anyone, there's a block at each end of the site, you choose which one is nearest. The £5 deposit for the toilet key is to stop people from the beach using the facilities as the beach is just over the wall. As regulars we simply had 2 more cut for £1.50 and returned the original. The showers are temperamental so using the ones by the warden's caravan is best.
The Brean Down Inn is within walking distance and serves very good food as does the Chinease take-away/chip shop next door to it. There's a shop a little further up selling everything you need to keep you going but if you're staying for a week then a trip into Burnham to either Lidl or Tesco is advised. A 5 minute car journey or half hour beach walk to Brean Leisure Park.

We have used this site on many occasions, we have our tourer stored by the same owners. The site wardens are very friendly and extremely helpful. They keep the toilets and showers spotless, the ladies even has a vase of roses for a final touch. The site itself is clean and tidy, and well maintained. It offers the only Sea View pitches in Brean for a small supplement.

Owners Karen and Richard Bigwood are friendly and very approachable, they will help wherever they can and work very hard to maintain their high standards.  We would recommend that if you are looking for a site without a club, (but good entertainment at The Seagull not too far away) then give Channel View a chance, you won't be disappointed

The site is split into two by a road. The section nearest the sea (which you can't see due to the high wall) has caravans only with a fairly new toilet/shower block for the sole use of these caravans. The facilities for the touring caravan/tent section is at the other end of this area. This is the very old toilet block, plus 2 separate showers with doors straight off the yard. You pay £5 deposit for a key to the toilet block & showers, but as the locks are very old it takes ages to open the doors (not good if you're desperate for the toilet!) The overflowing rubbish bins, disposal point and fresh water tap are in very close proximity in this yard. The showers are money in the slot type, but the meter is up high above the bench where you put your clothes, so if you have to put more money in during your shower, your clothes will get soaked as you have to stand on the bench to reach the meter!

The section for touring caravans and tents is across the road. It has no facilities other than one fresh water tap. There is a very heavy farm gate across the vehicle entrance to this field with a strong spring on the pull-back gate catch - this gate is closed at 9pm, so if you come back after that time, you have to walk through the mud around the gate and struggle to open it and close it again after you've driven the car through. There is no stop catch on the gate, so it swings both ways - if you fall over (as I did) if it swings towards you when struggling to pull the catch back, you end up in the mud!

If you're in the touring field, you have to open a gate which is straight onto the road (no pavements here), cross the road, and open the gate on the other side of the road to visit the toilets and showers - so if you've got young children you would have to accompany them to the toilets every time.
