Stayed here for 6 nights, ideal base for the D-Day beaches. Site was very friendly and clean. WiFi was free managed to watch Wimbledon men's final. A very easy going and laid back site. I had an overnight ferry and there was no problem checking in at 0900 and on leaving checked out at 1930 with no extra charge (unlike the UK sites). Would recommend this site. Language is not a problem as they all speak English and a English couple work in the shop and reception at certain times.

Recently stayed on this site & used as a base for cycling to the Normandy memorials. New toilet/shower block very clean and well maintained. Small shop on site but quite expensive, stock up before you go or as you are out as no local shops. Friendly staff on check in, could choose our pitch and let them know what number we were on. Pitch a good size. Very quiet at night despite being quite busy, most people had turned in by 10pm. Good base to explore the local countryside, from the American beaches over to Pegasus bridge - nice days cycling!

Arrived on 3rd June for 7 nights and received a very warm welcome. For those of you like me who speak little French, rest assured that the staff speak English. We had been booked on to a pitch, but were offered to tour the grounds to choose any we preferred. A new shower and toilet block are being completed, with the remainder of the facilities clean with good showers and toilets. There is also a nice bar to relax at night and free wifi throughout the site. Room between pitches can be a little tight as is more common in Europe. Please remember your continental adaptor to hook up and reverse polarity lead.
Campsite is in an excellent location especially with Bayeux on the doorstep. Plenty for children with pool and play area, football, badminton.
Highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

Had a lovely break here, choice of pitch, good size, friendly and helpful staff, new toilet block being built. Excellent setting in the grounds of the Chateux, had some rain but ground soon drained on our pitch, well stocked shop, lots of lovely trees and HOT showers! Swimming pool looked inviting, play areas for children, tennis, table tennis and go-carts. Would recommend to friends and would go back.

Lovely place with good sized pitches
Swimming pool very small and shallow and Fishing lake looked like an ornamental pond but people were catching carp.
Toilets and Showers were OK as we were not by the main block but they are exposed to the wind and leaves.
Great to stay here in September but would not like it here in main season when crowded. Pity they shut bar and restaurant at end of August.
Very close to Bayeaux to visit lots of the Normandy sites.
Wifi Good.

Sent an email to the site the first week in sept whilst we were in Switzerland. Did not get a reply. Turned up on Friday 14th Sept and found the site had closed for the season. There was a number to ring which I did and the owner came down and because as we have stayed before he let us stay using a Camping Cheque. This site is in need of investment, we have been going there on and off for years but nothing is getting done. It is such a shame because we have such good memories of it. The owner told me the level of business meant he may shut even earlier next year.

Stayed here for 3 nights after leaving a very poorly unkept site nearby. Wish we had of found this site sooner.
Was very impressed on arrival on the lovely drive up the the château. The staff was very friendly and spoke very good english.
We were able to pick our own site as it was quiet and we got a lovely quiet spot near the pool and toilets.
The toilets and showers near us where very clean and we seen them getting cleaned regularly.
There was a lovely fishing pond, with rods available from the shop.
The pool was a bit cold but the kids didn't seem to mind.
The grounds were beautiful and well kept, it was very peaceful and we enjoyed a game of tennis in the tennis courts.
They had a lovely shop, well stocked for all your needs although was a bit overpriced, but was there if you ran out of any essentials.
I would return to this site and plan on looking into their other sites they have as well.

Lovely quiet site set amongst orchard or along tree-lined approach to chateau. Decent toilets, showers/washing up facilities + small shop & laundry. There was a brasserie but we did not have a chance to sample this. Very nice swimming pool and also a fishing pond with rods available at shop for about E3. 50.
Tabletennis, small play area + another area with swings. Reception spoke English & there were lots of information leaflets on places to visit. The site puts on extra events such as BBQs, fishing competitions. We visited with 4 adults & 3 children & although we only stayed 3 nights, we would come back and stay longer.

After reading the reviews, admittedly I was a bit apprehensive about booking this site, but as I needed a campsite within easy driving distance of Caen university and with the family in tow, the list of facilities seemed adequate enough for my husband to be able to keep our 9 year old son occupied whilst I completed my course.
This may have been our first visit to a 'Les Castels' site, so cannot compare it to others in the chain, but we were not disappointed! Okay, we arrived in the pouring rain and as we had requested an extra large touring pitch with hook-up, was allocated a pitch along the impressive tree lined driveway.
The pitch size was more than adequate, but a long electric cable is advisable for these pitches. There are no hardstanding pitches on this site, and discovered that the tree covered pitches did take longer to dry out (as you would probably expect). After the first week, we decided to move pitches due to the wetness of the pitch and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
The toilet block situated within the trees, was the one closest to us. We found the toilets and showers to be clean throughout our 2 week stay. The only minor criticism I can think of is that there are no external doors on the toilet/shower blocks, which does leave them open to insects being drawn in, especially at night when the lights were on. However, this did not bother us!
The shop stocked the basic essentials, plus a few extras, but was a little overpriced, as was the bar. Having said that they are both housed in very attractive converted outbuildings.
The chateau and grounds again very pretty. Our son enjoyed the swimming pool and the fishing pond was well stocked. On closer inspection, the chateau and buildings would benefit from a fresh coat of paint and a little maintenance, but this does not in any way compromise the overall impression of the site.
The site is located within easy driving distance of Caen, Bayeux and the D-day landing beaches and also the ports of Caen and Le Harve. There are no other shops within walking distance of the site.
I'm not in the habit of writing reviews, but felt that this site deserved a more positive write up. We definitely hope to return to this site and would happily recommend it to any of our friends.

Reviewed this site last year and think it's not as good now. We were on pitch nearish to office and used toilet block just in the woods. These were small and in the men's only 1 loo. They were also not always clean. It was busy for July with several over nighters for the ferry at Caen, as we were. The pool was good but overall we felt standards had slipped a little. A shame because it could be lovely again with a bit more effort. We used camping cheques and wouldn't have wanted to pay the full price.
