Another in the excellent Castels chain. We'd moved here from Le Brevedent and like it, the Martragny had the same laidback feel. The rain this summer had meant that the some parts of the site had turned Glastonbury but for the post part it remained sound. We've 2 young kids and got a pitch next to the excellent, safe play area. This is also close to the pool and ornamental water feature, which lie at the foot of an impressive vista to the main house. There's a good tennis court here too, for hire. There's a pleasant old courtyard housing the shop, reception, bar and restaurant. These are especially welcoming.

Our kids loved it. They could rent go-carts (the pedal sort!) and spent hours trundling along.

We used this as an overnight stay while quickly travelling through Normandy and visiting World War II beaches. It is part of the Castels chain and set is lovely Chateaux grounds. A pitch for two people electricity was 26 euros per night.  The on site bar, restaurant, pool and shop seemed excellent, although we didn't use them extensively. The shower blocks were great, with power-showers and some large cubicles. However, the site workers seemed to struggle to keep on top of the cleanliness, probably due to the fact that they are placed in a wooded area.

The site was good but you have to travel to nearest shops etc. We made the five mile drive to Bayeaux, which is a lovely town with the excellent WW2 museum and the harrowing British graveyard. The town itself is beautiful, and still in-tact, as it was not affected seriously in WW2. Also nearby is Arromanches, with the remains of Port Winston still dominating the shoreline: well worth a visit.

Overall, the site provided a nice overnight stop off, although a little isolated and the local area has much to offer. I'm sure we could have spent a lot more time here than a quick overnight stop off.
