All round a great experience. Steve, the Warden, was helpful, well informed and gave good advice about the locality, recommendations for local eateries and all the facilities on site.
We have a large 4 berth tent and it was easy to find a good, flat, riverside location perfect for our needs. The facilities on-site are excellent - loos, washbasins and showers in gents and ladies blocks together with individual privacy loo, shower, washbasin units.
I had doubts about giving a review because I would like to think the site will not become too popular! However, we had a really good 3 nights and will definitely return so it seems only fair to share our thoughts.
I don't think there is an on-site shop but apologise if I am mistaken - might be a drawback if you ran out of milk. Otherwise couldn't fault it.

I'm really not sure I want to tell you about this place, I'm thinking I should keep it too myself! This is a real peaceful haven, very little noise other than a few cows and the odd Woodpecker, and of course the babbling brook (River Lugg) Not really the best place for kids, it's just not that kind of place. The site is set at the bottom of the service road, beyond the neatly kept retirement homes. The newer showers/toilets are pretty much the same standard as a decent Hotel (I'm not kidding) Even the older facilities are really good. There's a laundry room/fridge/freezer in a separate room. There's books and magazines to borrow and even shower gel/shampoo etc in case you forget your own! The pitches are spacious, level and very well manicured. In short, if Carlsberg made a site manager, Steve would be thier model. In fact, 'word up' to other sites, go and see what this guy does. Copy it and you will see your ratings improve. The man is absolutely spot on and it's a real pleasure to see someone perfectly suited to and enjoying the work he does.
So if you want a 'party site' or a kids playgound, this place will not suit you. But if you seek a superbly managed, quiet and peacful place, beautful views and a super location. Just go.

We stayed for a weekend at the end of June, to visit friends who had just moved to the area. This site is a gem!
Access is easy and the surroundings are the beautiful rolling hills of mid Wales. The site is kept immaculately and the setting is fantastic, with a lot of the pitches along the river bank.
Apart from plenty of space to run around there's not much for kids and with younger ones the river is a worry.
Facilities are spotless and as other reviewers have said they have have a range of shower gels, shampoos etc should you forget anything.
The warden is the friendliest and most helpful person you could ever wish to meet and nothing was too much trouble.
We only popped into Prestieigne to get some bits from the Spar but the pubs and restaurants looked good and inviting.
10/10 is not high enough, we'll definitely be back many times!

Top site if you're looking for a bit of peace & quiet with a clean, flowing trout filled stream next to the tent pitches. Acres of space with your pitch. Facilities were excellent with toiletries provided. Lovely, rolling hills all around you. The road wasn't intrusive with only one or two cars in the so-called rush hour. Warden Steve & his partner do a great job looking after the site.
We were there to explore Mike Oldfield's Hergest Ridge and found a lovely pub called 'The Harp'. It's on a hill, next to a church and overlooking a beautiful valley in Old Radnor. Six miles south of the campsite, near the ridge. Thoroughly recommended if you like rustic inns with a view.
See you next year

Stay here when walking Offas dyke. Little gem of a site lovely clean ablutions, lovely location and very friendly and helpful warden. Level sites and next to river.
This has prefab housing community which appears spotless and new. Camping is towards the river. Little touches like washing up liquid, shampoo, shaving cream, shower gel all in bath room. Also has a decent commercial washing machine and dryer, how many sites seem to have ones that do not work properly.
As said little gem of a site

We have been using this site for 3 years, with a folding camper to begin with and now with 'Polly' our vintage caravan. There is always a warm welcome from Steve and Lynda the site wardens (especially if you bring cake!). The site is beautifully maintained and the toilet block kept spotless, and the new addition of family/disabled facilities make it even better. In fact they are nicer than my bathroom at home! The pitches are spacious and level with gravel hard standings for caravans and grass for the tents. There are plenty of local amenities in the nearby town and Steve produces a very useful guide to the town and what's on events wise locally.
Overall a great site with great wardens and very reasonable prices. With the gentle sound of the river in the back ground what more could you want!

We have never camped in this part of Wales before and it is really beautiful. The campsite was lovely, and we camped on a large level pitch by the pretty river The facilities were very good, especially the newly built private shower rooms. In over forty years of camping we have never been on a site that provided washing up liquid and toiletries in the showers. Steve the warden was really nice and so helpful, providing information of local eating places and of things going on in the area. Through this info we went to a flamenco and Tapas evening in the Village Hall which was really super. Lots to do in the area. It was very central for lots of places to visit. Went to two national trust properties which were only a few miles away and Ludlow.
Would definitely go back to this site.

Another visit to our fav campsite. Nothing much to report as it's all been said before. Oh they have fitted heated, very plush shower/toilet/washrooms at the end of the toilet block.
Peace and quiet is the key word here. Love it, love it, love it.
10/10 for Steve and his good lady for the friendly welcome. He has to be the most laid back bloke I know.
We will be back.

Excellent Campsite, well maintained and clean, 5 star luxury in terms of camping. The Children loved running around the field and playing by the stream. Presteigne is a short walk down a country footpath that follows the route of the road and starts from the entrance of the site, plenty of little shops to buy the essentials if you run out/forget. The site staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Site facilities are cleaned regularly over the day, an added bonus are the toiletries on the shelf should you require them!
Overall a beautiful site in a quiet valley with easy access to any major road networks. WILL be going again very soon!

This was a first time visit with our two young grandchildren. Our short stay really could not have been better. The warden, Steve, is very welcoming and helpful and there is a very nice and relaxed atmosphere on site. The pitches are a good size and the facilities which were very nice and clean were more than adequate. The location of the site beside the river Arrow is very pretty and peaceful and the interesting town of Presteigne is a short ( 20 mins?) and pleasant walk across the fields. We will certainly be visiting again!
