Arrived at site and our first impressions were very good, we went to find the warden Steve who we had contacted directly to make our booking. Steve greeted us and took us to the riverside pitches where we were given free choice of those available, he also informed us of facilities and walks plus the all important river access for our dog. Steve is an absolutely genuine friendly guy who goes above and beyond what you would expect from a on site warden. The site is very quiet and peaceful, the facilities are clean and adequate at the moment but a lot of development of new pitches is due so we are sure that there must be plans to extend the facilities. Our stay was very enjoyable and would recommend this site to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, as you are likely to be unable to receive either phone or tv reception.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this wonderfully located site, what a GEM Sshhh don't't tell anyone. After driving through the Park home site we came to the caravan & camping site located on the banks of the small River Lugg where we were greeted by Steve the warden. He was happy for us to choose our own pitch so we could receive a satellite signal with no problems. Apparently, the TV signal is not great with an aerial. He also warned us that the mobile phone signal was not that good either but we could borrow a phone from him if we needed. This man really enjoys his work and presents the site in the best condition possible, even supplying toiletries in the toilet block which were kept very clean during our stay. The residents on the park home site that we encountered were very welcoming. You are surrounded by great views of the hills, the singing of birds which all add to a very relaxing atmosphere. There are nice walks and great towns not too far away, but if all you want to do is get away from it all, you won't find a better place than this.

Well where do I start. This site is a real treat if you like peace and quiet, we were greeted by the warden on arrival and were given a choice of pitch. The pitches are level and well maintained. The toilet block is a little dated but the showers are fantastic so powerful and hot and very clean. The residents are very friendly and helpful too which makes a very nice change!. We had a nice walk into the village however walking along the road is not recommended and we chose to walk through the fields. In evening we had a BBQ and it wouldn't light so I asked Steve for help who proved so lighting fluid top man! Also forgot to mention he gave out information on local activities and pub menus.
So fantastic site with wonderful views fantastic staff and a very reasonable price to boot.
We will be back :-)

This site is a gem (shhhhhhh don't spoil it) visited for the end of May bank holiday with two other couples both tenters. Met by the warden who is an absolute top bloke. If you wanted to meet the perfect host then this is your man. Always smiling and always ready for a chat and able to help with all the daft questions asked of him. He's also a Wolves fan so it doesn't get any better does it?!
Great quiet site with level large pitches. We were very very lucky and were given three EHU pitches together right by the river. We were later joined by a huge (very nice) motorhome and a few Caravans. All the campers were friendly, no doubt all put at ease by the wardens easy approach to all things camping.
The site has residential homes too but we were greeted by nothing but smiles and hello's from the residents who have stumbled on a positive diamond of a place to live.
Campers have use of a shower block that has all you need and showers to cave your head in they are that powerful. Blooming hot too although they an be adjusted to your own requirements. A sign stated that the owners are in the process of building a new block but this has been held up by the planning gremlins. It was a shock to see inside the loos a large selection of shower gels, deodorants, toothpastes etc etc etc for everyone's use. Very good news if like us you forgot things in the rush to get away.
The site is bordered by working farms that have livestock, (sheep/cattle) the cattle come right down to the edge of the site to drink from the river. That said there were no farmy smells to spoil things. There are lots of other wildlife and birds to keep you amused. The 'dawn chorus' is a tad noisy, ha ha, so bring you ear plugs if you like a lie in.
If you do take kids please be aware that the river is fast flowing and deep in parts its also freezing cold so keep an eye on them is they get by the waters edge.
To sum up. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
This is a 100% 10 out of 10 site.
Would I go again? Yes; and we are cos its already booked.

OUTSTANDING ROCKBRIDGE WELL DONE!
This is the first time we visited this site, we were not disappointed. Steve the Warden was extremely accommodating from beginning to end. We arrived on the 24th May 2013 for the May bank holiday and was greeted by the warden who immediately directed us to our pitch, slap bang along the river and what a great pitch that was, sitting at the very edge of the River Lugg with a backdrop of the Welsh hills, where we watched the local wildlife in the fields and don't forget to look to the skies, I counted at least 50 Buzzards at any one time and 2 Red Kites, unfortunately I had forgotten my binoculars but true to form Steve was on hand with a pair I was able to use.
The facilities are adequate, but there are only 2 showers but these were kept clean and tidy, the shower block was also stocked with toiletries such as deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, hand cream, toothpaste, tissues etc. All there for you to use should you forget anything. There is also a fully equipped Launderette, which also doubles as a small library, should you want to loan a book.
There are also plenty of leaflets giving ample info on places to visit. The nearby town of Presteigne was just a short walk of. 8 of a mile away, with excellent pubs and great food, local supermarkets and plenty of small shops selling local produce. You can of course walk to the pub down the country lane, but I would suggest you speak to Steve to get directions of a route via the fields, much nicer and safer too. If you are looking for a place to unwind then Rockbridge is definitely the place to visit. We have already booked for next year. Well done to the warden and thankyou for making our visit one to remember.

We had a great stay at this park, despite the weather. As many reviewers have written the warden is very friendly and helpful. The welcome goes a long way and certainly not present at all sites we have visited.
We were disappointed to have a view of machinery as the site refurbishment is still not complete. Would have been nice to have been warned about this, but it wasn't really a problem, just a shock.
Don't expect to get a signal for your tv and poor mobile phone signal too. Even the portable radio had interference.
Found a lovely town not far away. Llandrindod Wells. It had a super park, small but perfectly formed.
Toilet / shower facilities are very clean and well equipped with toiletries. Overall we had a lovely stay.

Initially I was very impressed with this site.
The tent pitches are located in a lovely spot down by the river. You're screened off enough from the static pitches to make it feel like a secluded site.
The warden is extremely helpful and the facilities are excellent if a little dated.
However this was all ruined when a contractor on site started up with a stihl saw at 8 o'clock in the morning. Not really what I'd call relaxing or peaceful.
I was planning on returning with the whole family but sadly this has put me off somewhat.
|
Management response: I would like to thank Baronbradders for staying with us and am glad that he was impressed with the site and hope that he will return again next year with his family. I must apologise for the peace and quiet being disturbed so early by an outside contractor starting work and can assure everyone that this will not happen again. The site is currently being upgraded to enhance its appeal and improve its facilities for all to enjoy in the future. Once again thanks for staying with us and it would be lovely to see you again next season. |

Second visit this year to Rockbridge, and even better than the first. Although it was pretty wet all Bank Holiday Weekend the Warden kept the shower block and laundry room clean. Even got chatting to some of the residents!some are great- a couple to avoid.
The warden was great giving out information leaflets of local events, even helping us hold down our tent during strong winds-trying to pack it away.
Well worth checking this place out, we can't wait to go back next year.

We stayed at Rockbridge the beginning of August and have returned 4 times as we have enjoyed ourselves so much. The site is extremely well maintained and the warden seems to be working continually to ensure that his exacting standards are met.
I booked through Pearl Lake the first time, unfortunately they made an error with the booking, I called Pearl Lake in order that they could rectify my booking which they couldn't seem to do. I would recommend that you phone Rockbridge directly to book, thus avoiding any unnecessary complications. The warden sorted the booking out, we couldn't get the pitch we wanted due to pearl lakes error however the warden sorted an alternate pitch.
The pitches are all well maintained and clearly marked, we stopped on the electric pitches backing on to the stream, which were peaceful. This is an idyllic spot, I understand that hard standing pitches will be put on the site during the closure my only hope is that they leave the park pretty much as is.
The toilets are rather dated and could benefit from a complete refurbishment however they are spotlessly clean. The showers can be rather temperamental but don't let this put you off. I have read in one of the reviews that the warden pays for the toiletries, if this is the case then shame on best parks as I feel this is a great touch, I would strongly recommend more parks to do this. I forgot my conditioner last week and it was so handy to have something to use. Thank you.
I have recommended the site to a number of other people who have I turn recommended it to others and I would say this is down to the wardens attention to detail and personal interaction with all visitors, the handouts given on the local area are a godsend. Thank you Steve for making our stay such a memorable one, hopefully see you very soon.
I would recommend a drink in the wine bar 46 a good selection of wines at a reasonable price.
The food at the Rad is excellent value for money.

Management response: Many thanks to Stef Jake for leaving such a positive review and I am glad that they thought so highly of the site. I feel I would just like to comment on both the toilets and toiletries provided. The utilities block is due a complete refurbishment over the winter and as such should further add to the appeal of this beautiful park for the coming season. As for the toiletries, it was an idea I picked up as a ‘caravanner’ myself who often forgot or ran out of supplies whilst away. I chose to supply the essentials on my own initiative as a trial to see what people thought and the idea has received positive feedback. Once Bestparks became aware of the initiative they were most positive in their support of the idea and were more than willing to meet the expenses incurred. |

I would recommend this site. The warden is very helpful and friendly and gave us an information pack when we arrived.
We stayed for three nights. It rained quite a bit when we stayed but we had no problem getting our medium sized camper-van on and off the field. There are no hard standings which I thought was good thing. It makes the campsite look much nicer. The pitches were clearly marked. Our pitch was next to the stream and was a nice level pitch.
The facilities were always clean and the showers were hot when we used them. Although the warden warned us the hot water can run out at peak times, we never experienced this.
We had food at the Royal Oak in Presteigne on two occasions and found the food to be OK and reasonably priced, beer is great, the staff and locals are friendly, service is good.
There is a car park on the main road that by-passes the town centre. This was handy and free at night. It's just a short walk to the pub from the car park. We did look around surrounding villages but no other pubs tempted us.
