Picked this campsite at the last minute and it is a gem. Lovely spot right next to River Lugg - and there are trout that you can catch.
Very peaceful - no traffic noise just the cows and an owl.
Toilets, and Showers and whole site very clean. Although showers are OK (but cramped) there is nowhere to put clothes and the floor does get waterlogged.
Only stayed the week-end but would definitely revisit especially if the showers are improved which was the only downside.
Steve (the warden) extremely helpful with local information.

Just stayed here for a week in our tent (31 Aug 2012)
And what a gem of a place, the place is kept spotless, the warden is top bloke and very helpful.
When you arrive you are greeted usually at the bottom of the site and if it’s quiet you get the pick of the pitches although you can reserve if you want, also you are given a little hand out that gives you all the information about shops eating and places to visit nearby, the shower blocks have everything you need in them just in case you forgot yours, this is a personal touch from the warden
“it all comes from his own pocket so don’t take it home with you”
Presteigne is about a mile away you can walk to it over the fields but don’t go on the road as the hedges are high and the traffic although not busy, can be very fast. In the town there is a Chinese take away, chip shop, pubs that do food, and one is dog friendly, even a builders merchant/ironmongers if you need gas or you need to fix something, news agents, wine bar and mini market but no camping equipment shop though.
The site is new to Best Parks who bought it about a year ago and you are over looked by a residential mobile home estate don’t let that put you off as it is very well kept. There is a river which defines the boundary to the site and could be a danger to small kids however you can fish for trout which did, and put them all back, even the eaters.
NOTE: if the fast river is not your cup of tea, and you want to fish on a lake, the sister campsite Pearl lake is six miles away and you can fish there for £4. 00 all day dawn till dusk, the staff here are also very helpful. There are no fishing tackle shops within 25 miles so take it all with you.
Back to Rock bridge
There are electric hook ups on one side of the site for tents and caravans and a large field for campers without any hook-ups yet.
I say YET as I’ve been informed Best Parks are going to turn the pitches into hard standings which will be a shame in my minds as it will ruin the atmosphere and natural appearance of the place.
For those of you who enjoy wooded walks there are plenty around you just a short drive away so get the map out and find them.
This has to be one of the top places I’ve stayed at for some time now, and as always, mainly down to the hard work by the staff.
Yes I would go back and highly recommend this natural looking and peaceful place before they drop in the hard standings.

Management response: Many thanks for the positive review posted by Tabs-R-us. We would just like to clarify our position about the hard standings and development of Rockbridge Park.
The ethos of Bestparks is based on the appreciation of the natural settings and beautiful surroundings in which we are fortunate to have our parks located. We value and treasure these locations and as such are very aware of the need to strike a balance between any development and the rural aspect of the parks.
At Rockbridge Park there are no hard standing pitches at all (at the time of Tabs-R-us holiday) and it is not our intention to replace every pitch with a hard standing base. We appreciate the need to strike a balance and as such will only be introducing 10 - 12 hard standing pitches in a separate area. The main riverside pitches drain well and will remain as level grass pitches, thus retaining a wonderfully natural area to enjoy your stay.
Rockbridge is a beautiful rural riverside park and we feel that being able to offer hard standing pitches to those that require them without visually impacting on the unspoilt nature of the park is a balance that can be achieved. |

We stayed here for two nights after several weeks of rain. We arrived and got stuck in the grass and had to be towed out by the helpful warden steve, we could not park on the pitch so just abandoned the motorhome on the grass.
We found the site very peaceful and was clean and tidy all round. Showers and toilets were spotless.
Laundry room and freezers also available. Close to the town of presteigne.
We shall visit again. River very close to pitches so I would be careful with small children.

We are two families (related), we have just returned from our fist visit to Rockbridge. We booked our electric hook up pitches a couple of weeks prior to our visit. What can I say. A fantastic- jubilee weekend, it may have rained however we had a great time.
Steve the new warden, extremely helpful, very pleasant and a really nice bloke. The toilet block was cleaned daily, the showers good and hot- never ran out of water!, even provided toiletries just in case you forgot or ran out- nice touch.
Washing up facilities always clean and tidy, laundry facilities- washing machine and tumble dryer. Industrial! plus books to loan while on site. Lots of leaflets and info brochures of the attractions etc in the surrounding towns. We didn't have to use the chemical waste disposal but it was never left unclean or smelly.
A nice large grassed area for the children-and adults to play ball games, french cricket, boule etc. Some fished in the Lugg- running behind the site- they did throw them back as they were only small, the children enjoyed a day paddling.
Presteigne is just down the road, a few good pubs/restaurants however for shopping it's worth driving to Knighton about 6 miles to Tuffins -they have everything you could need.
Can't wait to go back.

Lovely site where we were able to pitch alongside the shallow stream, with our own picnic bench, much to my son's enjoyment.
The facilities were clean and tidy and it was a very short drive (or a pleasant walk across fields) to the town, with a great playing field and park and a small selection of shops and pub, which served good cooked food and had a great little play area for kids.
I couldn't comment on the price as I was lucky enough to have The Sun tokens and only pay £1 per night, which was fantastic.

Our recent stay at Rockbridge Park four nights was a jewel in the crown the location and scenery was second to non.
The park facilities were very clean even though the park has just undergone new ownership who said the toilet block and areas where going to be up graded.
We hope the touring field will remain unspoilt as the views were very good. The park residents were very friendly and helpful. The village of Presteigne had a good varied shops and take aways. The Royal Oak public house served good food and a very friendly welcome.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights.
It's a really lovely quiet (when we were there) and friendly site, with simple, clean and well maintained facilities - toilet/washing facilities and free showers, and a laundry room with a fridge (including freezer compartment), a sofa to rest on whilst you await your washing and a small library of books to borrow from.
We camped just a couple of feet from the side of the small river which flows through the site, and saw lots of wildlife whilst we were there, including a kingfisher.
Presteigne is less than a mile away, and other small and intriguing towns also nearby. The site takes touring caravans/motorhomes and tents (hookups if you want them), and also also has a number of permanent park homes.
A blissful retreat. We'll be back.

Fabulous site, we will definitely be returning. 7 couples stayed here the end of July for one of the boys 60th birthday. We were made to feel welcome from the time we arrived to the time we departed. The site was very clean, hot showers, separate area for cleaning utensils, and a room where there was a freezer should you need to refreeze your ice packs. There are electric pitches there if you required, but we prefer old style camping. The town of Presteigne is about a 20 minute walk on a country road. We were all dressed up in fancy dress so we did get some strange looks ! but the reception we had in the town was really great, especially The Farmers Inn. Hope to see you all again in 2012. I can definitely recommend this campsite.
