Lovely site with loads to do nearby. More formal in layout and pitches at closer quarters than my favourite campsites but our kids ended up making new friends with our neighbour.
Great that they allow campfires off ground which is a big tick for us. Our kids (5 & 8) had a great time playing on the bmx track (without a bike!) and there is plenty of space between pitches for playing.
Brilliant to have an enclosed area for exercising dogs. Overall friendly owner, clean facilities and very reasonably priced. We had a great time.

Stayed here over new year, pretty much first come first served, so when all hard standing pitches were taken so ended up on wet grass.
Nice well kept site set well back off the road.
Toilets are portacabin style on only one shower in each but also immaculately clean.

We booked at short notice as we were a large group of 7 tents, 6 requiring EHU.
Martin, the owner, was excellent beforehand, and made us feel very welcome throughout.
The site is very relaxed and there is a dog run for dogs and a BMX course to keep the children happy.
The toilet and shower block were quite old, but they were immaculately clean all weekend. They could do with some extra toilets and showers as there is only one per gender.
Highly recommended.

This site is lovely a real gem. We were met by one of the owners who took us to our pitch. Later the second owner Martin introduced himself, they are both lovely and friendly, offering help and local info, if you need it. The toilets are in a port cabin set up, but they are spectacularly clean. Showers cost 20p but I found I needed 40p each time to ensure enough water. There is a one shower room and a toilet room with one toilet and a sink in one cabin. Then there is a toilet and sink in another cabin. The men have a similar set up. The washup area for dishes and the disposal bins etc. , are adequate and kept clean. The only down side is the fact that there is only one shower and there can be a queue, even this early in the season. Overall its a site if we are in the area we will go back. Well done Martin and Partner.

Just back from a 4 night stay.
Great friendly staff. The owners offer: cooked food, fresh eggs, home made cake and are always happy to help.
Lovely manicured site with clean toilets and showers.
Good under cover washing up facilities with use of fridge/freezer if you need them.
Good size pitchers and a great BMX/bike area for the kids. Separate dog walking area.
Only down side they could do with more toilets and showers.
Only one toilet/shower for the men and two toilets and one shower for the ladies.
Hot water is 20p for 2 minutes. We don't mind paying but I found out about this after I had entered the shower. A sign or a quick reminder on arrival would be useful.
You will have a short drive to local shops and pubs. We had a nice meal in The Old Reindeer at Edingley about 10mins in the car. Plenty of walking around the area, Sherwood Forest is 10/15mins away in the car. We also visited Rufford Abbey £3. 00 to park, it has plenty of grounds to walk around and great facilities which include restaurant, cafe, shops and the Abbey to look around.
We would like to thank Martin and his staff for making us feel welcome, you have a great little site.

This was our first caravanning weekend of 2017, and we stayed whilst visiting friends in the area.
Let's get the negatives out of the way first, and that means starting with the showers. Yes, they're immaculate and of a good size, and we don't object to paying 20p per X number of minutes of hot water (this is clearly defined, I just can't remember it). However, it would have been nice to have been told, either when we checked in or in the printed list of site rules that the hot water was coin-operated before we headed over there in dressing-gowns the following morning.
Then there's the pitches themselves. Our grass pitch was massive and included clearly defined spaces for 'car', 'caravan' and 'awning'. Given that we didn't bother with an awning for our one-night stay, we barely used half of our allocated space. However, the hardstanding pitches are substantially smaller and one had been allocated to a huge twin-axle caravan meaning that its nose stuck out into the road beyond. The owners may want to have another look at this in the future.
And that's it. That's all two things we didn't like. Everything else is lovely. The drive down into the site, past a pond with ducks and chickens is a wonderful sight. The owner (Martin) was friendly and helpful, the site's location is beautiful and peaceful, yet within easy reach of many attractions (Rufford Mill, Newstead Abbey and Creswell caves to name but a few). The food at the Lion pub in Farnsfield (nearest village) is superb - if you can get a table.
The site facilities are basic but perfectly adequate for its size, the covered outdoor washing area is nice and the enclosed dog run and child's BMX track are attractions in themselves.
So there you have it. We'd happily recommend this site to anyone. Just don't bother asking for a hardstanding pitch and remember those coins!

Excellent camp site, owners were extremely polite and helpful. Facilities were clean and well kept. Camp site itself was very well kept and catered for all ages. Pets were allowed with a separate dog walking area. Will return again. Keep up the good work :)

I have just come back for a weekend camping here and I cant word enough how pleased I am. This site is the best site we have ever stayed at. First of all the area and scenery are beautiful, the host are absolutely amazing. They are both very warm and welcoming, they really looked after us and even brought us home made cookies. Can't praise them enough they are the best host and dealt with every request that was given. Also the toilet blocks are the cleanest I have ever seen, it is very clear that they really care about cleanliness as that shown in the toilet and shower blocks. It was so nice to go to the toilet and shower in a pristine condition toilet block. Will definitely be coming back here again couldn't praise enough

We stayed here really off the cuff when we found a previous site in the area to be unsuitable and rang Lurcher Farm Cottage just an hour before we arrived. We had never stayed or heard of the site before but if we're ever in the area again it'll be the first place we'll call.
The campsite is very peaceful. It's immaculately laid out and very neat and tidy. The central pitches are huge. They are set out with allocated space for 'car', 'caravan', and 'awning' with plenty of space around each. We do have a caravan but were travelling with the tent on this occasion and really didn't know what to do with the land area we had.
The male toilet bock consists of one cubicle, one shower, and three urinals. It is spotlessly clean. In fact I'd venture to say the cleanest toilet/shower unit I've seen on a campsite. The shower is powered by 20p per 2 minutes. 40p worth was more than sufficient for myself. The water was hot the entire way through and the controls are very simple to use; you simply insert the coins into the meter and the water starts running.
Other facilities include recycle bins, and next to them wash up sinks that are housed under tiled roofed, open walled area that also has a refrigerator and freezer available for use. We found the freezer especially useful for items in our coolbox that were beginning to thaw; we simply plugged in the campsite freezer and stored them in there overnight. There are also copious amounts of concrete BBQ blocks available to keep the pitch grass clear of scorch marks.
The site also has a 100 yard long (my approximation) dog run. It is fenced on all sides to prevent escape so that you can let your pups run free off the lead up and down. Our dogs loved it.
From the site there is access to further walks along the adjacent farmers fields. Turn right and there's a long walk to to local shops in the next village. Turn left (which is what we chose) and you have a shorter walk (30 mins) to the nearest pub. However, at the end of the walk, although we could see the roof of the pub, we couldn't find a clear way through to it as the public footpath became a little obscured. In the end we opted to walk back and drive down there which took two minutes in the truck.
On arrival at the site you drive down under some trees past a lovely fenced poultry area. There's all sorts of birds in there to look at. Past that is the gated cottage driveway and then adjacent to it the entrance to the campsite. No-one was present when we arrived so I pressed the intercom button visible outside the office and said that I'd rang an hour earlier; without me having to mention who I was the campsite owner greeted me by name and appeared at the office in no time. He ran through the necessaries and offered me and my partner a choice of pitches.
This site is lovely. It's one of those places that's really difficult to find any fault with. My only regret about it is that when we left I couldn't see the owner about to thank him. So if you ever get to read this. Thank you.
