This was our first camping trip and we chose Lurcher farm due to the good reviews and location and we were not disappointed. We were greeted at the office and shown around the site. The plots are marked out and there is plenty of space on each plot. The site was not too busy and our son was able to play close to the tent which he loved. The owners are always around tidying, keeping up the lovely site. The toilets are clean and regularly checked. Washing facilities great, with even a fridge if you have no electric. Prices are very reasonable we thought. We had a meal in the pub nearby, the white post pub which we also thought was good value. Other local attractions include white post farm, wheelgate park, within half a mile and ten minutes away from sherwood forest. We will definitely be using the site again and recommend it to others. The only tiny issues were slightly stony ground when knocking pegs in and not many toilets but not an issue for us but if the site was full maybe could be an issue, especially if it rains and you have to wait outside.

We found a gem of a site. Very nice had a great two night stay. The site owners very nice and welcoming. Showers and toilets very clean. A good dog walking area and plenty of room between vans. A lot of tents on but no problems the owner made sure of that, and he made sure we were all happy.
The cake the site owner makes is to die for too.
The children's bike area was great for the kids
Will be back.

This was the first trip of the season and our first visit to Lurcher Farm Cottage, which we choose because of it's close proximity to home.
When making the booking the owner was extremely pleasant and could not have been more helpful and I felt the site was going to be a good find.
I was not disappointed the site has good access, is level, it's well away from the road so is quiet and all the facilities are maintained to an excellent standard. At the end of the site there is a small bike track which is great for the kids both young and old.
Looking forward to our next visit!

Arrived for a 2 night stay, the welcome from Martin was friendly and although we had requested a hard standing we elected to go on the grass which was perfectly level (11). There was a lot of work creating new hard standings going on the first day / evening which created a noise but we had a string of sincere apologies from the owner / workers.
The previous review mentions the dishwashing area which now has hot water. The site is being updated. I understand the portable toilets / showers will be replaced in the near future, albeit they were very clean whilst we visited.
The site welcomes dogs and our 2 Springer’s were happy with the designated dog walk which was at the end of the site. Walked to Farnsfield from the site along the grass verge to White Post roundabout / pub (10 mins), the pub had no dogs allowed except in the garden area.
There is a path then all the way to Farnsfield, a lovely village which has 2 pubs (Lion and Plough, both allow dogs in the bar area), The Brambles Emporium (shop) and the cafe (near to the Plough Inn) where you could sit and while away a pleasant hour with the local people. The lady brought out a bowl of water and a sausage for the dogs which was very kind. Called at the Farm and shops at White Post on the way back, all in all this was an interesting walk.
Overall the visit to Lurcher Farm was a good experience, nice site and it looks like it will be getting better in the not too distant future.

Used this site has a try out for new season to come as only a 20 min drive from home.
Found it clean and tidy, with nice views and close to other villages for shops.
Owners were very polite and left you alone to get on with things but around when needed. Used shower block once, very clean and 20p for 2mins, don't know if because of time year but shower didn't get hot, also tried pot wash facility, this also got no hot water but there is a sign saying electric update due later in year.
But all in all would visit again, we also had supper cooked one night by owners [curry, rice&chips] £5 well worth it. Hope to be back when weather picks up this time with grandkids has they plan to have a playarea built and the wheelergate park just down road.
Be aware when entering site off road take left fork lane to Lurcher cottage and campsite

Just had a great weekend at lurcher farm and for once this year the sun shone for us, we were greeted by the owner who showed us to our pitch and was very pleasant.
The field is nice and even and well maintained, as from other reviews what else is there to say. Fresh home cooked curry and desserts, eggs milk etc. Toilets spotless good pot wash area with fridge and a bike track that kids will love at the end of the field.
Also met another man who was also very pleasant, well done lurcher farm loved it and would return again.
Would advise hard ground pegs as the ground is a bit pebbley or steel pegs, all in all nice site.

Just returned today from this lovely site. Facilities extremely clean. Friendly welcome, very laid back. We sampled the curry available on site and it was scrumptious! Site layout very good. Lovely views and we would have explored more but the weather was pretty awful, but this did not deter us. We would definitely return to this lovely site and sample more of the lovely cooking! thanks for a lovely stay!

We found this lovely site on line and were extremely pleased with the attention to the needs of the guests from the owners,
We didn't want to leave, and are looking forward to going back, they took great care to make sure things were done properly,
The site was always clean and tidy and they were always aware of the needs of their guests.
It is a friendly site, people visit one another, because they feel welcome and comfortable, also the mango chutney was wonderful. We enjoyed our visit.

A 3 minute drive from white post farm and restaurant.
The facilities are very clean and well maintained courtesy of the owners.
The eggs where £1, 30 for 6 they where the best I have ever tried, they still had bits of straw on the shell so I knew they where fresh.
The pitches are grassed area,
Chemical disposal and all services where brilliant.
Site has few ramps so great for people who want to take there bikes.
They have there own goats, geese, and chickens (hence the lovely eggs)
Not a great deal for kids to do so be sure to take play items.
The owners are fantastic and make you feel welcome.
The fall-back was 20p for every 2 minutes shower time but the showers looked brand new they where very clean.
I recommend this site if you are going to white post farm to make that day out extra fun.
Owners also do some of there own desserts at a good price
Will visit again and recommend to others

We stayed here for a weekend and had a great time. Arrived Friday evening to a warm welcome and shown to the pitch. The owners were very helpful to my wife who had gone on ahead of me due to work and had helped her with filling the water and finding an electric point (some are off at the moment for upgrading).
We had a grass pitch (hardstanding is available too) and it was very flat. The roads around the site are gravel. The toilet blocks are made from metal container style buildings. The gents has 3 urinals, 1 toilet and 1 shower (20p for 2 mins). The womens had 1 on its own with a toilet and then a combined shower/toilet block as well.
These are spotless and you see the owners checking regularly for anything that needs attention.
There is outdoor but covered washing up facility and also a fridge for campers to use.
The owners also have a little sideline in homemade meals to take away, curry (one of the owners is Iraqi), chips, cake and smoothies.
For the kids there is a bmx track at the far end of the site which they go up and down all day long keeping out of the way.
The site accepts more than C&CC five vans, I think it has a private aspect to it as well - all the same price though.
It was very quiet overnight and we had a good nights rest. BBQ's are allowed - blocks available for raising off the ground.
The site is very easy to find from the A614 and is very close to Wheelgate children's themepark and also white post farm.
We had a little cycle trip out along towards Mansfield where you can pick up cycle route 6 towards Clipstone/Sherwood forests.
There are separate bins for recycling bottles/cans/card etc which is always nice to see.
There are a few animals near the cottage as well, turkeys, chickens goats etc to look at and eggs are available to buy.
We would go back to this site.
