Absolutely brill. Non commercialised site offering basic, clean showers, toilets and washing up facilities. The owners and staff go out of their way to help and assist in any way they can.
Pennycrocker is an ideal base for discovering Cornwall. Boscastle is only a couple of miles away.
I would recommend this site to people who are looking for a relaxed peaceful holiday. There are no facilities for the children but ample space to make your own entertainment for them, although the wind could upset the frisbee game! We got lost trying to find the camp as it is remote, but I rang the owner and he came out to us and guided us in. (Hows that for good service)! As we arrived on the Sunday evening, it was raining and blowing a gale, but the owner stayed and helped us set the caravan up.
All in all, excellent customer service. Will deffo return as the price reflects the facilities and it is an ideal base for Tintagel, Boscastle, Bodmin, Bude Wadebridge and Port Issac. Oh forget to mention, the fantastic views out to sea and watching the sun set is to die for !

Could not have asked for a nicer site very spacious pitch with electric hook up.
Allowed to pitch where you wanted Colin who came to greet us was very friendly and full of local information. Arrived on the Saturday and didn't collect site fees until the Sunday so relaxed and laid back it was unreal.
The shower cubicles were basic but always hot no matter what time of day you went. Washing up facilities basic but always hot maybe could do with another washing up sink or two.
Toilet facilities were basic but always cleaned daily, always plenty of toilet roll decent quality.
The views and sunsets were to die for, if you like walking lots of walking to be done coastal path is just at the bottom of the site. There was always a wind blowing but we had wind breaks up so did not bother us.
We will definitely be returning very good value for money. There is no playground for children but lots and lots of space to play games and run around.
There is a shop in Marshgate which is the nearest village we didn't actually go in stocked up at Morrison's at Bude when we needed provisions.
There is also a pub called the Horseshoe. Tried to get a meal on two occasions, one was a Friday night and because they had a private party they were not doing meals and on the second occasion we were informed there would be an hours wait which we were not too bothered about and then they served someone else first who came in after us who were obviously local to the area. The menu seemed very limited anyway, so found elsewhere to eat they missed out.
You need a car for this site unless you are on a backpacking holiday.

As other reviewers have mentioned - this site is run by a very friendly chap!
It is reasonably priced and has fantastic views, spacious and you can choose where to pitch, although you could find yourselves a long way from the facilities as they are in a corner of the site rather than central.
It is basic. But that's all we need to be honest, and that is of course reflected in the price.
Some handsoap in the loos would be a helpful but cheap addition to the facilities but I think the one thing that would make a huge difference would be another washing up sink.
Would we go back? Yes, probably. Especially now we have a stronger and more windproof tent!

The cheerful owner of Lower Pennycrocker Farm is without doubt one of the friendliest and most helpful people I have met running a campsite.
The site itself is situated high on the hill north of Boscastle, and it has beautiful views out to sea, as well as along the coast over Tintagel and beyond to Trebarwith. It's windy, and the prevailing wind is unsurprisingly from the Atlantic. Make sure you have a windbreak or 2! If you don't then use the high banked hedges at the edge of the fields - we were told to pitch where we liked - even on a Bank Holiday weekend!
This site was easy to find, and very neat & tidy.
The shower & toilet blocks are basic(take your own soap for handwashing in the WCs), but are always very clean, and even at peak time, you get hot water! There's only one block of male & female showers and toilets, but there is a separate disabled shower/WC, and we were offered a key to this when the owner spotted we had a small baby - very thoughtful!
As regards the surrounding area, I think this part of Cornwall is the most beautiful. The harbour and National Trust land around it are well looked after, and are well worth a visit. You can walk down into Boscastle from here, but it's quite a climb when you come back.
There's a variety of ways you can go - just arm yourself with the OS map of the area and take your pick of the coast path or the valley - both routes are equally beautiful.
If you like wildlife Binoculars are handy on the site - you can watch the buzzards circling, and at night follow satellites passing overhead while you try to work out which constellation is which! We had a great weekend here, and will definitely stay here again.

We have been holidaying at this site every year for the past ten years. It is a real gem of a site.
There are two large fields, the lower of which has quite a few electric points.
You choose your own pitch on arrival, all have fantastic views but some spots are more exposed than others.
The facilities are basic but ample and clean. Ladies have four showers and two sinks, with four loo's and two sinks in a separate block. There is also a plug socket in the ladies loo. I belive the mens to be the same. There is always plenty of loo paper but no hand dryer or paper towels.
Hot water is free for showers and there is a sink for washing up with hot water which is sited between the mens and ladies showers and is inside.
Mr Brian Heard and his lovely wife couldn't be more helpful, from weather reports to good pub grub guides and all the local information you need.
The surrounding area is stunning, Cornish countryside at its best, with the coast path just a short walk from the camp.
The nearest shop is in the village of Marshgate, just the one shop and post office that sells a bit of everything, including gas bottles.
You do need your own transport for this site, unless you are backpacking.
There are no pavements on the roads and Boscastle is about four miles down the lane.
You can reach Boscastle via the coast path, a great way to spend an afternoon but a bit hard going for small children.
The town of Bude is 12miles away and has a morrisons, sainsburys and co op.
This is a very peaceful site and ideal for those who like a good clean basic camp, which is value for money and as friendly as you could find. We love it.

Typing this while actually on site! We are staying here for 3 nights then heading further south for the remainder of our holiday. Good site at £12 p/n 2 adults with touring caravan & EHU.
Facilities, yes a little bit dated, but when you look past that they are clean and the large shower cubicles with free hot showers are excellent.
We booked this site very last minute and were very pleased to be accommodated. Lovely friendly owner with a relaxed approach who who lets you find your own pitch, then comes to find you.
Large site area, however quite exposed to the elements, as you don't get any shelter, but with lovely sea views.
Site looked busy however most caravans were unoccupied.
Note, road leading to site is single traffic only. This could be a real problem if you meet another tourer coming the other way!
Would definitely recommend this site and would return again.

Lovely site!
Beautiful location. Had a little quiet field away from the main field.
So peaceful. No pub, shop etc close by so go prepared. Boscastle not far by car though.
Owner a lovely man and just wanted us to enjoy our stay. Wasn't even bothered about us paying straight away - told us to pitch first and he'd see us in the morning.
Showers are new and fantastic. You can actually turn them on, adjust the temperature, then turn them off when you're done. None of this pressing a button every 5 seconds to keep the flow.
Will definitely be returning here.

This was 1 of 4 campsites which we stayed at during our 2 weeks camping trip.
We stayed here for 3 nights and for the price you can't go wrong!
The campsite is sat on top of the highest cliffs in Cornwall, and when the weather is bad you definitely know about it, as we found out.
The views are lovely, and is ideal for walking.
The toilets and showers are clean.
Would I recommend this site YES it is cheap and cheerful the owners are a lovely couple.
You really can't go wrong for the price.

Wow what a holiday, when we arrived after a good long drive we were met by one of the nicest people we have ever met, to say it was warm welcome would not do it justice. The location of the site is wonderful and its just far enough from every where to be quiet even when we went in the middle of the school summer holidays. The site was very clean and well maintained as we the showers and toilet both of which we very clean even after a rain shower or two. I would not hesitate in recommending this site to anyone I know, it was a pleasure and help make a wonderful week in cornwall, we will be returning next year - all being well

WE have camped here many times over the last few years
Its basic. A toilet block, hot powerful showers, in a new, but basic concrete shed type thing with a concrete floor
And at peak times showers run cooler
There is plenty of space the ground is never 'boggy' even after rain
Yes it dose get a bit windy but you can always fly a kite witch our kids do constantly do. The view is wonderful 10 minuets away you are at the cliffs which are high and quite exhilarating
The owner is a nice and a wonderfully relaxed man and lets you pitch where ever you want, but do listen to his advice as it can get very windy
Love this site no distractions for the kids just a good family time
