Stayed here for 4 nights camping after managing to get a last minute booking on the day we set off. For peak season it wasn't too busy.

£5 a person and Brian the owner is friendly and jolly. He comes round to collect your money for the night in the morning anywhere between 9am - 11am.

A nice location you can see the sea if a little exposed. You can choose where to pitch your tent. Can be quite windy and the mist seems to settle here a bit more which can make it quite damp when the weather isn't great.

Facilities are basic eg showers have concrete floors and a few spiders! They are cleaned daily but after a few people have used it it quickly becomes a little bit dirty. They are however cleaned everyday.

There is a separate shower and toilet block. Shower is free and mostly nice and hot except from when the showers are full and then they tend to be luke warm. Also take handwash/soap and towel into the toilets as these aren't provided (toilet roll is).

No drying room. There is a washing up bit with one sink. It could all do with a bit of an upgrade to be honest.

There is a socket in the ladies (not in the gents I am told) which was essential for me for a hairdryer. On the weekend seemed to be used for charging phones however which were left to charge. (I could get reception on Vodafone on the site for anyone wondering about reception).

Grass is a bit long although we stayed at the edge of the field to be a bit out of the way. In the main bit looked fairly even and well cut.

Seemed to be quite a family site so quite a few children about. The site seemed to go quiet after 10pm so we were a bit concious about making too much noise after this time.

Facilities near by are in Boscastle. Cobweb pub there is a delightful traditional pub. For shopping we went to the big Asda in Bodmin.

All in all if you don't mind basic then this site is fine. Personally I prefer facilities a little more modern.

A peaceful and rural site, just how I like them. Brian was away when I stayed there and his son was in charge, but very friendly and helpful. The site is high up and has stunning views along the coast - you can see to Boscastle and Tintagel to the west. The location means it could be quite exposed, I was lucky as there was hardly any wind whilst I was there, but there are some walls you could pitch beside to limit this. The camping consists of two large fields (and I think a smaller one can also be used, not certain though) with two facilities blocks at the end of one. One of these blocks houses the showers, separate for male and female and has clean modern showers with plenty of hot water and hooks for clothes. There are also a couple of sinks for washing up, both with hot water. In the other block, which is a bit older are the toilets and sinks which again were kept very clean.

The camp site is basic (although this is how I like it), with no other facilities (no children play area or shop, for example). The site is accessed off the B3263 between Boscastle and Bude and is on a narrow single-track lane, although it's not that far along and there are plenty of places to pass so not really a problem unless your towning a caravan and meet something coming the other way.

There is a footpath from the site down to the road which is passed by a 2-hourly Bude to Boscastle bus service (Western Greyhound). The nearest shop is probably the post office and stores on the way into Crackington Haven. To get here turn right out of the site and left onto the B3263. Turn left at Tresparrett Posts onto the road signed for Crackington Haven and Upper Crackington. The shop is just as you enter High Crackington and has a post office too. It seemed to be open until at least 5:30pm. There is also a shop in Boscastle. The nearest pub is in Tressparrett around 1 3/4 miles way. The roads around here do not have a pavement though so would not like to walk back after dark.

All in all a good value friendly site in a peaceful part of Cornwall.

This was the second time I'd been to Pennycrocker and to be honest, I can't really fault it. I took my little lady this time, so the electric hook up made it easier for her - hair straighteners, kettle etc!

The roads leading to the farm take a bit of careful driving, but they are not dangerous at the appropriate speeds. On arrival, the views you are treated to are fantastic, especially at sunrise and sunset. The site can be a little boggy off the site road when the weather is wetter than usual.

The new shower block was most welcome and very well maintained. The old block required anti fog glasses to get out after a hot shower!

Brian, the site owner is always pleasant and accommodating, not rushing for your money as some site owners do. You are simply allowed to take everything at your own pace.

The area in general is awash with beautiful scenery and most places to visit are easily accessible. Two tips though - try to avoid the Lesnewth road when raining. The river runs across the road at one point and only a proper 4x4 or a fool in a Fiesta will make the other side! And do not follow the Coast path immediately from the farm in the dark unless you have Ray Mears with you.

Glorious views and oceans of space. We were camping and did not use electric hook-ups, paying just £5 per person for a simple, well-maintained camp site with good showers (a new block installed this year, 2008) toilets and washing up. No other facilities but great ground for pitching.

Pretty exposed, so campers need to pitch their tents more carefully than usual to allow for the wind. There are plenty of walls to pitch close to, but our large frame tent suffered a bit on the last night.

Atmosphere relaxed, Brian a genial landlord. We stayed 6 nights as it made an excellent base for the 5 legs of the South West Coast Path we were doing.

Nearest pub is the Horseshoe Inn in Tresperrett, 1½ miles away. Food basic (chips with almost everything) but well worth supporting in an otherwise unremarkable village. Boscastle is 3 miles away and there are 2 pubs in the cute bit at the bottom of the hill. We had a very disappointing experience on Monday night in the Wellington (food poor - bar staff excellent) and wished we'd tried the Cobweb.

Just spent a week on this site over the bank holiday, and must say I loved it, very basic and cheap, toilets basic, but must say they were never dirty and always had loo roll, showers where great, plenty of hot water all the time and clean.
The site was clean, friendly and quiet, I will most definitely be using it again. My only problem with this site was the road to the site, I used to dread it, single track rd high banks, so you couldnt see what was approaching you, could do with warning signs. I had a few scary moments with people coming round the bends a little too fast for my liking and it was always me who had to reverse back, (not the worlds best reverser lol) wouldnt like to tow a caravan down it.
But all in all, it was a really nice quite clean site, just what we where looking for and the views are just stunning, especially the sunsets.
Nearest shops are boscastle. Some really nice little gift shops, the local shop for everything closes around 6, so make sure you have your milk etc by then. We went to the wellington arms for a meal a couple of nights and it was lovely, good prices for a good meal, also found the parking in boscastle pretty good too.
We will be back to this camp site, the only thing that spoil it, we had to come home.

 UPDATE!

For those of you who were put off by the basic shower block (although we thought it was great). There is now a new shower block!

4 showers for men, 4 for women, plus washing-up sinks and a disabled shower suite (key available) all in a new purpose-built block and render building.

The toilets remain in the old building (I think Brian Heard intends to replace the old showers with more toilets eventually)

Prices increase to £5 per adult per night and £2 for hook-up - still a bargain.

Very good just got better

We have visited this site at least once a year for at least twenty years. The pitches are well drained. The showers are clean, hot and FREE. A peaceful site with lovely views of countryside and coast. Brian and his family are always friendly and helpful.

We have been to most places in this country but always return to Pennycrocker.

Went to this site with my sister in-law and her two children 6 and 12. It was a last minute decision to go but Brian had plenty of space, he was friendly and chatty. We were allowed to pick where we wanted to pitch. The field at the top of the site had just been cut but there are a couple of small fields which you can pitch which are hidden away from the main area, you won't get the sea view but you will get the privacy.
The ground was what you would expect from field a little bumpy but nothing adverse. I personally didn't peg the tent down so I cannot comment on the quality of the pitch in that respect. Where we were pitched was surrounded by hedge on threesides which gave us protection from sea breezes. There was a waterpoint very close by.
The toilet block was a temporary building withtoilets showers and sinks, nothing new or shiny but more than adequate for a weekend away, I could have happily stayed a week, they were clean, stocked and I always had hot water when I used them.
The children entertain themselves by playing catch mostly! Me and my other half went for a nice walk in the surrounding area which is very peaceful and beautiful.
I love this part of North Cornwall, we had visited before and enjoyed Boscastle, it was less than a month before their devastating flood when we first visited, the village seems to have recovered well, the one sadness was the loss of the buildings with the uneven roofs! One of my favourite things about Boscastle is its serene beauty and stillness, a place to wander, a quintessentially British village.
On the outskirts of the Bude is a supermarket with a petrol station. In season Bude is a very busy place however we did manage to find parking in the middle of town when we went, it also has a couple of camping stores.
There are many beaches but I cannot comment on them as we didn't go to any of them, we did however go to Tintagel Castlefor the 2nd time and loved it, would recommend going on a nice day as it's quite exposed, the children had great fun exploring the Island and dipping their toes in the water at the beach. Once you have finished exploring you can have an ice cream at the tea rooms at the bottom of the hill. To get to the entrance you have to walk down a steep hill however you can get a landrover down and up again I am not sure of the cost. Then you have to climb a lot of steps, so make sure you all fit, it's well worth the effort.
The “pretty way” to Tintagel (eg. Along the coast) is not for the faint hearted, affords some lovely views but is very steep and very narrow in places almost as though you are on a roller-coaster at times! Make sure you brakes are good and your clutch is sound before heading off!
Over all the site and area are nice and I would go back again.

Like the previous reviewer we've spent Easter at this site; it was our umpteenth visit. We really enjoyed it like we always do. The shower block is still basic and clean with the best showers of any site we've stayed at.

I walked down to the fishing ponds this time to tempt the fish to the surface with a few bits of bread and was rewarded, after a few minutes, with a "shoal" of what appeared to be carp and a few tench(?) all of a good size. If you're an angler it looks like a great way to spend a day, for a fiver I think.

The location is so quiet too. We also walked down to the coast path for the first time (out of the site and turn left then follow the footpath; if you're feeling energetic it's a great way to approach Boscastle itself though the walk back is uphill AAARRGGHH! Take plenty water!)

We spent a day at Widemouth Beach, bodyboarding - great. Ditto at Crackington Haven. And again, like we always do, stocked up on jam and chutney from a little WI stall outside a bungalow in nearby Marshgate - Judi's Kitchen.(this village, by the way, is the nearest place to buy bottled gas)

And the site is STILL only £10 for 2 adults and a campervan with a hook-up. Long may it be so.

Stayed here Easter weekend. Its a lovely site and cheap too. The cost of 2 nights with electric was only £10.00 for 2 of us. Without electric its £4 per adult and £2 for kids. Nice flat pitches.

The toilets were basic but they were cleaned every morning by the owner. Its a lovely out of the way site and really quiet at night.

I can imagine that this site could get busy in the summer and there was only 2 toilets in the ladies, would stay again if I was in the area.

I think the shop may have closed as we asked about it and he looked at us strangly so get your stocks before you go!
