An easy location, just off the A66 and M6, and close to the lovely town of Pooley Bridge. We were a little late in arriving but met with a warm smile from the warden, and shown to a nice level hard standing pitch, with plenty of room for caravan, awning and car, and power and water on the pitch (well almost). In our case the power points were down a short yet steep grassy bank, and when packing up in the rain, this was quite a hazard - watch your footing!
The amenity block is not exactly modern, but is clean and has loads of hot water (best showers this year). Only two shower cubicles (in the gents at least) so had to wait one morning. Indoor pot wash as well, with a double sink, and an on site laundry.
No shop, but be aware that the site located directly opposite does have a shop, and we picked up local bacon and eggs as well as some rolls one morning. This site also has a bar (with wifi) so you don't need to go too far for something social.
All in all a great site, however it was almost eerily quiet. A high number of pitches would appear to be seasonal, so there were almost no-one around at times - despite being a weekend in June. We could hear fun and laughter drifting over from the other site. But I guess some people love the quietness of it, but we would have liked a little more sociability.

Just back from Cove after a 4 night break.
Wonderful peaceful place with stunning views. Wardens were very friendly & helpful. Excellent facilities, very clean.
Two very contented dogs who think & their owners do too that the dog walk is the best we have ever found. Brilliant! Our only suggestion would be to have a dedicated bin at gate to dog walk for the necessary bags to go in.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

Have just returned from a 2 night visit to Cove Caravan & Camping Park to test drive our new Campervan purchase 'Daisy'. What a lovely site, has all the facilities you need, friendly wardens, views over Ullswater. Quiet is an understatement, it was so peaceful. We are sure we will return in the near future.

We have just returned from a weekend at Cove Caravan & Camping. From the moment we booked and arrived on site the wardens were very helpful. We were given a hard standing which was very spacious having enough room for the tent and car. The toilet/shower blocks were always very clean, with plenty of hot water. An area for washing dishes, and also a laundry to wash and dry your clothes, which we did not use on our stay. Also lots of information on the area with a daily weather forecast. The play area for the children was very good. We would most certainly return here again.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Fantastic hosts who were available at all times should we need any help. The site is situated in a beautiful part of the lakes and our pitch was spacious and in a fantastic spot. The site has a separate field which is for dog-walking and has a little brook running through it which the kids loved paddling in! It also has a small park to keep younger children amused.
There are washing and laundry facilities with a pot-washing area; washing machine and dryer and also showers and toilets. We didn't use the pot-washing area so cannot really comment on it other than to say it seemed to be adequate and spacious enough. The washing machine is simple to use and costs £3. 00 for a wash. The dryer, again, simple to use costs £1. 00 for 20 mins. This sounds a lot but our clothes were dry in no time so I was quite happy with it.
There are 2 shower cubicles and the water is hot and quite powerful - it is a push-button type shower.
There are plenty of toilets so never any waiting around. The whole block is spotlessly clean and very pleasant - light, bright and airy:)
The site itself isn't too large nor too small - we loved it here and everyone was really friendly. It is very well maintained, neat and tidy. Mike and Elaine are fantastic people - nothing was too much trouble and they are always ready to help. We haven't had a lot of towing experience and Mike was more than happy to tow our caravan into our pitch and also to 'watch' us tow out of the gates.
Overall, I cannot fault this site at all - quiet, friendly and pleasant. Our holiday and stay were perfect. We would definitely stay here again. I have given it full marks for each category as the site offered everything we wanted. Of course, everyone has different needs and tastes and what suits us may not suit others. For instance, if you are looking for a busy site with facilities for the kids such as a ball-pool, climbing frames, swimming pool and such-like, you won't find them here. We much prefer our kids to enjoy nature's own playground - paddling in the brook, climbing trees, searching for frogs, toads, newts and insects, roly-polying down hill. And we found it here. I suggest you give it a try as I recommend it unreservedly:)

Only stayed the one night as we were in a hired VW camper and this was the last night of our jaunt. The wardens were extremely helpful and friendly and showed us to our pitch when we arrived. The hard standings were excellent and terraced to take full advantage of the view over Ulswater. The facilities were also very good with washing areas and washing machines if needed. The toilets were immaculately clean and the showers were lovely and warm after a few pushes of the control. There isn't an on site shop but you can nip over to the site next door for essentials.
The pub - forget the name - was about 11/2miles away with excellent beer and food with a reasonable lunch menu until 5. 30pm and a pricier menu from then on.
The on site playground kept a 6 and 8 yr old entertained even though it was a bit muddy (much like the rest of the lakes)
Overall we enjoyed this tranquil ( until we fired up the veedub! ) friendly site. It was slightly cheaper than our previous site with better facilities. We normally tent camp and there were some there on the hard standings but I would recommend a thick ground sheet to protect sewn in floors.
Will return for a longer spell in future.

Lovely site with distant views of Ullswater. In April, all pitches had views of the lake but we were put on a lake view pitch for an extra £4 per night. We thought that £24 per night was excessive for low season. The lake was over 1 mile away so views were distant. The site was very well kept and facilities were spotless. There is no shop on site but another campsite close by has some provisions.
The showerblock was spotless but cold and needs updating. When having a shower, don't expect to get wet! The water cascades way above your head and falls around you leaving you standing in the middle, completely dry. It was extremely difficult trying to wash my hair. We did report this so hopefully it will be sorted.
The nearest pub is over a mile away and the walk back is a long uphill drag and very dark. The pub is called the 'Brackenrigg' Inn and the food is good.
The nearest public transport is over a mile away with a steep hill to climb on the return.

We loved this site, we came here last minute after a dreadful experience at another campsite. The site owner couldn't be more accommodating and helpful, he even helped us to pitch our caravan. The pitch was perfect with beautiful scenery overlooking Ulswater in the distance. The site is immaculate and has a children's play area and laundry facilities, there is also a large dog walking field which was ideal for our two dogs. We will definitely come again, thank you!

We have recently returned from a five day break staying at this site. What a find! Very helpful wardens assisted you in finding your pitch and giving you details of the site and surrounding area on arrival. The pitch we were given was a hard standing one with electric hook up and water tap very close to hand. It was the first time we had pitched completely on gravel and we are definitely converted. A ground sheet and rock pegs were required and we invested in a tent carpet before our trip so were prepared and despite a couple of heavy showers our tent remained dry and was very easy to pack up at the end of our stay.
The site is quiet and peaceful with wonderful views over ullswater lake. The site has an adjacent dog walking field which was very useful. A children's wooden play area at one of the site and a large field in the middle of the site kept children happy.
The shower block and toilets were immaculate and there was always plenty of free hot water. There is a launderette and indoor washing up area with plenty of hot water and space. Lots of local information and tourist info were available. There is no shop on site but directly over the road is the quiet site which has a small shop which we occasionally used.
We will definitely return to this site and would highly recommend it.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay with our kids and dog. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful wardens who helped us to get our caravan into place. Our pitch was a good size on hard standing. The site is clean, tidy and quiet! There is a small children's' play area which our two girls enjoyed. Opposite the site gate there is a large dog walking field with nice views as you walk along. The shower blocks were clean but we did find the water was not always hot, in fact my husband and daughter had freezing cold showers one evening. The cubicles were a little small.
We enjoyed the Ullswater steamer ride to Howtown and the walk along the lake back to Glenridding. Aira Force waterfall makes a good short walk. The lake District Wildlife Park makes a good day out for smaller children. We took a trip to Knotts Wood and managed to spot the Ospreys' nest complete with Opsrey. Well worth a visit,
All in all we probably would go back to this campsite especially if the shower blocks were updated.
