This is a lovely peaceful site with well kept facilities. Cost was £13 per night, showers and hairdryer etc needed 20p. Tent pitches are slightly sloping on well maintained grass and the wardens keep to a strict number of tent pitches (25) so it was not cramped. There is a play area too. This is a very quiet site with no noise after 11pm, and is ideally situated for great walking around Ullswater. There is a shop on the campsite across the road, and Penrith is about 5 miles away with supermarket and other shops. An ideal site for a relaxing countryside break; we will definitely be back when we need tranquility and fantastic landscapes.

This site is a real gem. The site is small in a great location and ideal for a relaxing break. The toilets. showers and washing facilities were spotless throughout our stay. And for campers even a freezer to put your ice packs in - at NO charge!
The owner of the site,Sue I think, was really friendly and helpful and the little camp shop accross the road was well stocked.
Pick up a walk map from the shop and make sure you go on the 8 mile circular one- starts from the camp -you will NOT be disappointed.

We stayed there last BH when the weather was so wet and windy - a great site!

The owners were lovely. We had a very traumatic time trying to pitch our tent and were actually going to give it up as a bad job but they wouldn't hear of it and helped us get sorted - even moving us to a more sheltered pitch.

The facilities are spotless and plenty of hot water. The kids play area is quite basic but our daughter spent hours down there with some other children and its visible from all the pitches so you can chill with a glass of wine and not worry!

The pitches are really spacious too.

The cost for 2 adults and 3 kids was £22 per night with EH .All the pitches for vans and trailers are on hardstandings with plenty of space. The toilet and shower block which we were pitched right next too are kept clean and 20p for a shower which gives you plenty of time to shower properly. The only problem we had when we got there was finding the reception. In the end we telephoned and the lady came out from a bungalow near to one of the exit/entrances and showed us to our pitch ,as it was pouring with rain she collected money day after.

The area for washing dishes/clothes is also situated in the toilet block and a freezer is also provided for anyone wishing to freeze icepacks. We had a superb view of Lake Ulswater from our pitch. Worth hiring a motorboat for an hour on the lake ,cost us £22 and was worth it as all the kids had a go and lifejackets are provided. Also worth a look is Keswick which had a great outdoor market and some good shops and a large park for the kids.

There is also a play area on site which was ideal for the kids. The tent area is on a slope and seemed to have drained off very well from the previous nights downpour. I would certainly go back to this site as all of us had a great time in a beautiful part of the country, peace and quiet with brilliant views.

May BH weekend (first one in May) 2004
We camped at the site for 3 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend.
There is only one shower/toilet block and there are only 2 showers in the ladies and 2 in the gents. We thought we would be queuing for the shower in the morning but somehow we didn't have to. Another disadvantage is that the showers are 20p a go. It doesn't warn you that the money is about to run out it just goes freezing cold! Maybe this is why we didn't need to queue!

The park is very peaceful and has good views of the mountains and view through the trees of the lake.We very much enjoyed our stay as we liked the peacefulness of the site.

The owners were very helpful when we arrived and gave us plenty of information about the site.
They are into recycling and have bins for all types of waste. They don't seem to mind bbq's even disposable ones which is good as some sites are getting very fussy about that. We took a dog and that was fine. There is a dog exercise field.

Not too far from Keswick and when it absolutely poured down with rain we went to the Rheged Centre and watched the Everest movie on IMAX (that was good).

Went in June 1997 cost about £6 per night for 2 x 2 man tents.
Hosts were very helpful and had a baked potato night each week. Site was small and friendly.
Field sloped and was a bit wet in places but overall quite good.
There was a shower block which had freezer packs & hot drinks machine as well as the usual shower blocks.
Showers were 20p each but lasted long enough.
Shop and phone were available just off the site.

Nice scenic views of Ullswater & local area.
