Just returned from cove caravan site, we arrived and was shown to our pitch by wardens, who then helped us to position and level our caravan, we had pre- booked a super pitch which claimed lake views over ullswater and we were not disappointed, we could not have asked for a better pitch, the views of the lake and surrounding fells were outstanding !

The site itself is well maintained, well set out, and has plenty of space between pitches you do not feel as though you are living in your neighbours space. This site is a must for anyone wanting a ' peaceful ' relaxing holiday, dog owners have the benefit of 2 fields to exercise their poochies, for walkers there are many walks direct from site, the site benefits a laundry room, washing-up area for campers, good toilets and hot showers, and a small play area for young ones.

We do not often return to sites we have visited, but have already made a booking for next year, and would have no reservation about recommending this site, No shop, No bar, No noise, A small piece of cumbrian heaven. And yes the camping field on our visit was a bit soggy, but hey this was our 2012 summer wet !

Really enjoyed our stay at Cove Park even on a rather wet August weekend.

We booked in and the owner asked if we would like an hook up pitch has someone had cancelled but we had not packed the EHU, however he let us pitch on the hard standing pitch which was ideal because of the weather.

The site and facilities were kept very tidy and clean and we never had to wait for the showers.

The main camping area in the centre of the field was very wet and didn't seem to drain to well but this may have been down to the torrential rain during our stay.

The owner seems to have a no nonsense approach to any music being played within earshot of other campers which we approved of.

We would recommend this site without hesitation to others and will return if in the area.

This my second visit to Cove Park and we had an amazing time. When we arrived the warden was really helpful, there had been a lot of rain before we arrived and the grass on the field was very sodden and wet.

The warden gave us a pitch on the hard standings around the field at no extra cost and even offered us a better pitch when another tent left. The warden even came and put extra gravel on the hard standing. You couldn't ask for a friendlier service.

The facilities were also so much better then last year, the shower block has been updated with free showers that I didn't have to queue for and were always hot.

This year I used the hair dryer which cost 20p but is worth it. The block is kept clean and well maintained. Even the dog field was updated which my dog loved this year.

This campsite is a little gem and makes a great base to camp

We used this site for an overnight stop on our way up to Scotland, and found it adequate, with clean facilities and a good location near Ullswater, just across the road from The Quiet Site, which had a great and unusual bar on site which we visited that evening, very friendly and fair prices too.

My only gripe was that although we had only two small 2 man tents, for ourselves and our two teenage children, we were charged the price for two pitches, despite pitching close together, and the site being empty on the centre grassed area, we were the only tent there.

Fair enough, you may think, and I can understand some sites will charge for an extra tent anyway, but the condition of the pitches was so waterlogged and muddy that the warden took great trouble to point out the exact spots to pitch our tents, we were glad to be only staying the one night, it was quite bad, we felt that charging double was over the top considering the state of the pitches and the fact that it was only a single night stay, we only were there from 5pm - 8am the next day.

Having said that, the service was friendly but it did put us off a bit how much we were charged.

A good location near Ullswater with lots of nice walks and things to do around the lake.

The park itself was quite pleasant for a short stay. Fairly decent toilet / shower block that was regularly cleaned and staff friendly and helpful.

The drawback for us was that our tent pitch was quite waterlogged and muddy and wasn't as well kept as another site we stayed in the very next day (that had the same rain).

Overall an ok site perfect for an overnight stop.

We booked seven nights but ended up staying twelve.

We were welcomed with a warm and friendly site warden, who showed us to our pitch and gave us all the relevant information.

The site and amenities block was always clean and the wardens monitored it throughout the day, showing commitment and dedication in all that they did. The showers were wonderfully hot at any time of the day and we never had to queue.

There was a washing machine and tumble drier which we used and found value for money. Very good when washing/drying towels. There was a freezer to use for free, for our ice packs. The daily weatherboard in the amenities block was useful as was the leaflets on local attractions. The washing up area was always clean and situated centrally in the amenities block. There was an iron and board if required also.

There was a large exercise field for our dogs. There was a nice path mowed right around the contour of the field and long grass in the middle for them to hide in.

The site was well laid out with a large patch in the middle for those who didn't require electricity and around the edge of the park was the pitches for hookups-some even with their own water supply.

We explored Keswick, Ambleside, Windermere, Grasemere, Kendal, Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Ulverston, Cartmel and Penrith. And also Aira Waterfalls.

Cartmel is home to sticky toffee pudding and a wonderful shop is dedicated to this in the centre of the village- with a variety of puddings and goodies. In the village their are lovely little shops, a delicious cheese shop and local bakehouse, not to mention the brewery and the Priory.

I must recommend cake and coffee at the Lakeland Kitchenware store in Windermere and also a visit to Wilf's tearoom in Grasmere next to Dove Cottage (W. Wordsworth musuem). I would also recommend The Brackenrigg Inn. It's situated just down the hill from Cove Park. Very good food and hospitality. In Pooley Bridge; the Sun Inn, is great for food or a cool drink after a walk down through the Lake Path or coming back from a day on The Ullswater Steamer (this is a great attraction which we all loved).

Although not far to Pooley Bridge it's best to take the car, as the road is busy and quite winding in areas. Another local attraction is the Rheagd Discovery Centre about a five minute drive from the campsite. Walks are plentiful from the campsite and offer wonderful views and photo opportunites.

You can access Aira Falls by following the path about 250 yards downhill from the campsite, which saves on paying the fee in the car park at the waterfalls!

We would highly recommend this site and will be returning in the not to distant future.

My sister and I visited Cove Park with a small family tent on Easter weekend 2012. The road up to the site is very narrow in places, not a problem for campers, and although caravans were getting up it, I'm not sure what would have happened if two had met and at least one of them wasn't a nifty reverser!

We were greeted by the warden, who was very friendly.

The site has hardstanding, serviced pitches round the edges for caravans and campers who like electricity, and a large oval field in the middle for campers like us.

We were told to pitch where we wanted. The field is sloping, so you need to pick your spot with care, but there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. There was a great view through the trees to Ullswater, although later in the season you might not see it so well, once all the leaves are on the trees.

It was a typical bank holiday (wet and cold), but despite the difficulties of keeping facilities clean, the toilet block was kept pretty mud and grass free, and I saw it being inspected several times. The toilets were clean and well supplied with paper. There were several sinks, including a couple behind privacy curtains, two showers and several toilets, as well as a point to plug in a hairdryer (you had to put coins in, but I didn't use it so don't know how much). The toilet block was also heated, which was very welcome! When I had a problem with the temperature of the shower, the warden came out and fixed in immediately.

There was washing up and laundrette facilities and a freezer for ice blocks, as well as some useful tourist information and menus from local pubs.

The bin enclosure was tidy and had quite a few recycling options.

The site was pretty quiet, with a noise restriction on 10.30pm to 8am, so maybe not best suited to those who like to sit up very late.

The site is a few miles out of Pooley Bridge, and although you can walk down to the nearest pub (1. 4miles) on very quiet road, walking to Pooley Bridge might be a bit far for most and there was no pavement most of the way. However, it is a great location if you have a car, as there is access to a lot of activities and places to visit.

The rates I thought were reasonable, cheaper than most sites near Ullswater, and only a £20 deposit was required.

I would recommend this site.

Have just returned from this site after a weekend away. Was greated at the gates and shown to our electric hookup pitch.

The electric hookups for tents are on hard ground. There are more pitches for tents, without hookup, and these are on the circular grass field. Caravans are also on hard ground.

Toilet facilities were clean, there are four toilets in the ladies, two separate sinks (for teeth brushing) and four main sinks. There are only two showers which require 20ps, there was never a queue to use these (perhaps due to the 20p?)

Site was quiet at night, thankfully. Was worried there would be quite a bit of noise as I am a light sleeper and this was the first time in our tent.

Play area is small - the site across the road has a much larger play area, however, I prefered the site we were on as it was smaller, less crammed and therefore quieter and my daughter (9) enjoyed the play area.

The site is sloping though, ended up waking up numerous times throughout the night at the bottom of the bed.

No noisy groups on this site.

On the Saturday it absolutely chucked it down, so our tent was filthy by the end of the weekend, as the mucky water drained down the slope into our tent.

On the whole, a nice, peaceful site, good facilities and views and well placed for lots of walking/running.

Would come back to this site again.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the summer on our 2nd camping trip. When we arrived we were shown to our EHU pitch which was on a slight slope and was also a hard standing pitch (slightly disappointed at first, but it wasn't a problem as we had a footprint and the warden explained it was for drainage) We settled in nicely, but needed to adjust our bed due to the slope on the second night, we found the site to be a great base for the lakes. The Facilities were slightly old fashioned but very clean and well maintained by the wardens. There was a small freezer for ice blocks, and a good general information board including the weather forecast. Washing up was indoors, with three sinks.

On our 2nd day the neighbours from hell turned up, they were very loud and brash, think they had forgotten they we in a tent! Talking loudly and shouting at their dog, even waking us up in the middle of the night with their antics.

Try the chippy at the site below, and also there's a lovely walk around Aira force near by. Also Pooley bridge isnt far and Penrith for the shops is closed by too.

We found it to be a well run site, not too big and a great base.

My boyfriend and I loved our time at Cove Park. The wardens are very friendly and helped us find a nice pitch, despite the very wet conditions! The atmosphere was lovely and the facilities were brilliant. The shower/toilet/washing-up block is easily reachable from anywhere on the site and we found it to be clean and tidy all the time. Perhaps the avocado toilets aren't to everyone's taste, it was clear that whoever cleans the place takes genuine pride in their work. The fresh flowers were a lovely touch, and I even noticed that the chain of the sink plugs was wrapped around the plug to keep it out of the way - a little trick I've never even seen in posh hotels! The town of Glenridding nearby has plenty of things to do; we went sailing and kayaking over two different days. The Aira Force waterfalls are closeby, and I noticed there's a walking path which takes you there from very close to the campsite, which we spotted too late, but would have meant we'd have avoided the £4 parking at the waterfalls car park!

Overall, I'd recommend this campsite in an instant, and I'm looking forward to going back some time in the future.
