Lovely site minutes from lots of shops, restaurants, pubs, cafes and the bus terminal we travelled to Doncaster (great shopping in the Frenchgate centre) and Retford lovely little place can also get to Chesterfield. The site is well laid out and most pitches overlook a grassed area ours had shrubs just coming into blossom.
The toilet block is very warm the ladies had 3 showers (£1. 00) I did not use but there was plenty of hot water at the basins and had fresh flowers, did not use the wash up sink this was outside but under cover. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
We had a bit of difficulty finding the site but if you make for the cricket and bowling club and pass through their car park you are on the site (the club is open to campers) you would not believe you were so close to Worksop it has a very rural feel. Worksop is a lovely town and has got a great market
We will be back in the summer

I picked this site based on proximity to home and on previous reviews. I was not disappointed. Me and my 3 year old son were given a lovely warm welcome and advised where we could pitch, which was basically anywhere on the tent field as there were no other tents there!
The site is very well laid out with hardstanding pitches and grass pitches with electric.
The washing up facilities were kept lovely and clean and the ladies toilet block was spotless. Showers cost £1 but I can't comment on how long they last etc as we only stayed the one night and didn't use them. They also have a lockable door on each shower cubicle for those who don't like just shower curtains.
There is a barrier at the entrance of the site which requires a key for both entrance and exit.
It is a very short walk into the centre of town and ideally situated for the shops with the small but nice Priory shopping centre very near by.
All in all an excellent site and I will definitely return.

Just been back to this site for about the 4th or 5th time, just for a Saturday night away. Although it is an hours run for us, it is ideal if you don't want to or in my case at the minute, can't walk far into town. I can think of no other site so close to a town centre. However when you are pitched you would think you are in the countryside.
Not cheap, but clean and tidy, and whether the showers etc are any good I can't judge after only stopping from dinnertime until morning the following day before going home. Owners of the site are very friendly as well. One tip, if you like a cheap pint or meal the Weatherspoons pub, 'The Liquirice Tree' is only about 5 or 6 minutes walk! We will be back again next Autumn or Winter.

What a find!
First of all, Kathy the owner. What a lovely lady, so friendly!
The grounds are really well kept and you would not believe that you are in the centre of Worksop.
It is quite tight getting in and out, but taking your time will make it ok.
The cricket club is very friendly and the prices are fair.
Showers are quite costly, but for £20. 00 a night, then I really didn't mind. Its when you are paying silly prices then expected to pay that amount that I don't appreciate it. Kept very clean with flowers in the ladies.
Definitely going back.

A hidden treasure. Beautiful well laid out site, kept immaculately. Scrupulously clean good utility block with washing up facilities etc. Kind and helpful wardens who found us a pitch for our tent as the tent area was too wet to use.
Would recommend this site for convenience (so much to see in the area) and quiet enjoyment. Children are welcome, though there is no play area on the site, there's a super one in the park.
Worksop was another revelation. Two minute walk from the campsite is the town centre. Attractive high street with a good varied market.
Found a super coffee shop near the top called The Piccolo Expresso - recommend their home made cake! New cinema for an enjoyable and very reasonable evening out. Also Shaw's Fish Restaurant just near the cinema - a fantastic piece of fish. The Priory and Gatehouse are really interesting too.
An unexpectedly enjoyable week-end trying out of our new tent.

Just had a brilliant weekend at this lovely site. The wardens were so helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly. The toilets and showers are heated and clean I think that having to pay a £1 for a shower after paying £18 a night is a bit steep, but there on a water meter so guess they have to make some money somewhere, Entering and leaving the site with a overall lenght of car and caravan 42ft was tight but we took our time and got around the bend with no problems, don't let this put you off.
There is lovely walks along the canal to the Lock keepers pub and 5 mins walk into town. There was a lovely market on the Saturday and was busy, I did not see a children's play area, but we havent got children so this did not bother us, we will be returning to this site shortly.

Just arrived home from this lovely site,
It is idealy situated in the centre of worksop, only 5 minuits walk from the shops and market stalls also inbetween a canal bank and a cricket ground. (best of both worlds). You'll always find something to do.
On entrance it is very tight due to cars parked for the hairdresses near the entrance.
The wardens were very pleasant and helpful,
They kept the site well maintained and very clean.
The site was all hardstanding which was very good,
One very little moan, there was no notice in the toilet/shower block of how long the showers lasted, plus they cost a £1.
The canal bank which run past the back of the campsite gave you a lovely walk.
We will be returning sometime in the summer. Xxx

Nicely laid out site with hardstands for caravans / motorhomes. Stayed on a nice level pitch with privacy hedging to separate pitches.
A lovely warm welcome from the owner/warden, facilities are ok but £1 charge for showers is very steep when already paying £18 for the night.
Showers are spacious enough but do lack in pressure and the shower I used appeared to fluctuate in temperature, as I didn't know how long my £1 would last it was annoying trying to get hair washed and rinsed. Maybe a sign on the coin metre to say average length for the money would help.
Dogs are welcome and many units appeared to have dogs, but signs all over that dogs must be kept on a short lead and must not foul on site - as so many dog owners the site would benefit from a compound type area to 'walk' them or at least just let them do their business.
We did feel secure having the barrier for entry and exit being in the middle of the town, and being pitched more towards the rear of the site away from the cricket club led to a quiet, peaceful nights sleep.
Access would be tight for the larger articulated unit although it's not impossible as there was a fifth wheeler sited.
All in all we would return, but for the money paid would have hope for better quality facilities.

Whilst Worksop wouldn't normally have been our choice for a few days holiday, we booked Riverside as I was meeting my Sister to visit Mr Straw's house. Which is definitely worth a visit and just a couple of miles away from the caravan site
I loved the fact that just a short walk away from the site you were right in the middle of Worksop town centre, and yet on site it was a quiet oasis.
Plenty of shops and a good Market on a Weds and Saturday, unlike some of our town centres in the UK, there seemed to a good mix of independent shops and also well known brands. With a good M&S foodstore right on the doorstep, along with others such as Peacocks, Wilkinsons etc. Also plenty of places to eat or takeaway food, again all within walking distance.
On site I hardly knew we were that close to town, and we would definitely return. As others have said the approach can be a little daunting, ESP due to some parked vehicles near to the local hairdressers on approach to the site.
My only two down sides to this site, although toilets etc were very clean. On top of the nightly fee of £18 a night the charge for showers was an extra £1 per shower, on a coin operated basis. We thought this a little steep.
The site can be a little noisy first thing in a morning, due to seasonal pitches accommodating workers, that appeared to leave very early in the mornings. On a couple of occasions some as early as 5. 30am. Although the seasonal pitches are accommodated to the rear of the site, in what I would describe as a little bit of a scruffy area (that didn't affect us) the noise is mostly due to the vehicle noise as they pass by on the gravel road, rather than doors banging etc.
The wardens were really nice and friendly, in fact some of the nicest we have ever met. We will definitely return here at some point. Just to add site users are welcome to use the social club at the cricket ground, but we didn't try it.

First site ever with a caravan. Please not email link from this site doesn't work so only way to book is via a quick call. Booking was easy, arrived on site was greated warmly, give all info about site and was told we could pick any vacant plot.
Vaner's either side were really nice and helpful as it was clear we were first timers.
Site facilities were great, clean, tidy and a really great introduction to caravanning. Great places to eat but you really need to venture out of the town centre as the centre is lacking places to eat. I. E kids wanted Pizza Hut and there wasn't one.
Would go back again without any worries, leaving site is a bit tricky due to narrow bridge you have to cross over but apart from that a realy great start to my caravanning adventures.
