This site is on the edge of Worksop town centre and is more locally known asWorksop Cricket Club. The site is bordered on one side by the cricket field and on the other by the Chesterfield canal, now open. The site is nicely landscaped and sheltered, is open all year, has 65 pitches mainly on hard standing. Nearly all with EHU's.(16amp).
Recently extended, the new pitches are of a more generous size than the pitches around the entrance. Infact some of them are big enough for two vans not one. The toilet block is not new but has modern fittings and was spotlessly clean, however with only two showers in the gents washroom things could be a bit pushed when the site is busy, which, by the way, is most weekends. Booking is advised.
There is no shop on site but this is not necessary because the town centre is only 3 minutes walk, Markets on Wed. and Sat. The cricket club, which has a good selectionof beers, welcomes site visitors and also has 2 squash courts. Other hostelries and restaurants are plentiful in the town. Fishing is available in season on the adjacent canal and also a new coarse fishing lake is available on the opposite side of the canal to the site. There are 3 golf clubs in Worksop.
The route into the site is signposted by brown caravan signs from the A57 but can prove a little tricky because of parked cars in the terraced streets that you have to use. But don't let that put you off, being so close to the town doesn't detracted from the site at all. In fact it's quite a peaceful oasis in such a position.
Nearby attractions include: Clumber Park, 3 miles, a must for cyclists Rufford Abbey Country Park Sherwood Forest visitor centre with The Major Oak Cresswell Craggs (Earliest signs of man in the UK) Meadowhall Shooping Centre 25 mins Yorkshire Retail Outlet 25 mins
All in all a splendid site for either the weekend or longer. Or an overnight stop from either the M1 or A1
