I understand this site is council owned. There was an older generation couple that appear to run it, they are very pleasant and helpful especially with directions for food shopping, ATMs and more.

The site is level also with electric Hook-ups, situated in Worksop next to the cricket / bowls club this means driving with your unit in some side streets, Kings Street, Central Avenue and Allen Street.

I also understand that site visitors can use the Cricket Club facilities.

The site entry from Allen Street is over a bridge and a very tight left turn, please do look at an aerial view of the entrance and be aware of low walls and railings if you have a longer unit.

The driveway by the greens is supposed to be non-parking for easy access; but don’t bank on it especially outside the bowls clubhouse area.

There is a security barrier at the entrance to the site and a key code for the conveniences block. The facilities were clean and tidy at all times.

The hard standing areas to the left of the entrance appear to be for longer stay visitors.

On the left of the grass area are several very pleasant individual screened pitches backing on to a brook / stream.

There does seem to be an abundance of shopping areas close to the site and you should visit the pedestrian Bridge Street area.

Unfortunately there is no longer any footpath access to the canal from the site, possibly due to security, which is a shame.

This site makes a good base for visiting the area such as Clumber Park, Robin Hood country and many more days out

Nice caravan site in the centre of Worksop. Though it's in the centre it feels like your away from the hustle and bustle. Though we normally would not camp on a caravan park, we prefer more rural farm campsites, it's a good base for exploring nearby clumber Park, which is what we did.

The toilet and shower facilities were fine however I still feel charging 20p for a shower on top of site fee's is not right even if most sites do it. Why not buck the trend?

However I just have a few minor issues. We were allocated a hardstanding pitch because motorhomes are not allowed on the grass even though there was a whacking big caravan on there with a hotel sized awning plus a car. What more catastrophic damage a tiny little VW camper with a windout awning is going to do is anyone guess. Plus the washing up facilities were inadequate for the size of the site. Basically there was one sink which had a press down hot tap that burnt your skin off.

We went for a mid week break at this site. It was our first time touring and I must say we are really glad we went here! The staff are too friendly, never a bad look or word was given or said. The area was very well kept, clean, tidy and looked great. The showers were always nice and clean, plenty of hot water and they were operated by 20p coins which gave you about ten mins. The ladies toilet always had fresh flowers in making it look nice. The standings we saw were a decent size, all hard and most divided into your own space. You are only two mins walk from the town centre and a chinese, indian and chip shop. The only two things I can knock the area for, (not the site) were the cricket club was pricey for drinks and was not much of an atmosphere, the local litten tree is worth a walk to as it does mid week deals. The other thing was there must be a local boy racer road some where near as one night we went to bed early and all we could hear were the exhausts of bikes and cars speeding down this road but nothing the site can do.

All together it was a fantastic place that we will be going to again soon.

Just got back from a weekend at this well run site, which had everything we needed. Toilets & showers were spotless, staff friendly and helpful, just a short walk into the main centre, but once on the site, you would swear you were in the middle of the countryside.
Found a really good Indian takeaway just a short walk up the road, but there was also Chinese and Fish & Chips. We didn't go into the Cricket Club next door because we were only there for the weekend and there wasn't time.

We had a BBQ on the Saturday. Disposable BBQ's are not permitted, only those on legs so as not to damage the well tended lawns (though our pitch was hardstanding anyway).

Read Janx's review (the first one) and took the advice to visit Mr Straw's House, which meant making a prior appointment. This, as Janx rightly said, is well worth your time. We walked there, though it is uphill and takes about 20 mins. We reckoned to be there for an hour, but the experience was so amazing that we were there for 2 hours, and could have stayed quite a bit longer except that we were expecting visitors. It was like taking a step back into another world, the guides give you their one to one attention and are really knowledgable and enthusiastic about what they are doing - not surprisingly since some of them knew the Straw family personally. One of the guides is even a cousin of the two Mr Straws who lived in the house before it was left to the National Trust in the will of the survivor of them. I would even go again, it was such a fabulous experience.

We would also visit this site again without any hesitation. The only thing we did not see were laundry facilities, which if we were there for a week, we might have found useful, though admittedly we didn't specifically look for a laundry room, so there may have been one hiding in a corner. In most respects though, a perfect site, would recommend to anyone.
Price for 2 people plus awning and hook up was £16 per night, which you might think is a tad on the expensive side, but facilities, maintenance and staff have to be paid for, and these were all second to none in our opinion, and for a weekend, it wasn't a great price to pay. A fortnight might have felt a bit different though, since we have a great van with everything we need, and we could have just as happily have foregone the facilities, excellent though they are.
As we generally spend our main holidays in France and only caravan at weekends during the summer, this site is a definite one on our list to re-visit.

Though this site is just a step away from the shops and town centre it has a rural feel, with trees and shrubs and a lot of birds. The wardens are so friendly and ready to help with anything you want. Most of the pitches are hard standing and the ones we were on were separated by shrubs which made it very private. There is a barrier and cc t.V which makes the site very secure.

There is no proper dog walk though there are pleasant walks along the canal tow path.

We were in a group of four caravans so they are not opposed to small groups.

The toilets and showers were spotless, there is a 20p charge for showers, which lasts about ten minutes.

There is a social club for the cricket club that welcomes people from the site, this is very handy and not far to stroll home.

I would visit this site again.

Mr Straws house in Worksop is worth a visit it is run by the national trust, the house and contents have stood still in time and are just as they were in the 1920's. It is by appointment only .

If you have not tried this site you don,t know what your missing The site is well kept and very clean The toilets are immaculate with fresh flowers in the ladies. The wardens are excellent nothing is to much trouble. It is a stones throw from town and next to the chesterfield canal ( handy for fishing ) with plenty to do in the surrounding areas.
This site is a must you will wish you had tried it sooner

I found this site by accident, but what a find. It is within walking distance to the town centre and the canal. The site is clean and well layed out the toilet blocks are clean, the showers are 20p for about 10 Min's. There is no disabled toilet in the men's and there are no disabled showers at all so it would be no go for disabled. There is nowhere for the little ones to play but it isn't far from clumber park.
All in all a very nice site.

We received a warm welcome at this delightful little site, tucked in behind the houses, yet very secluded, with carefully mown grass and pretty trees and shrubs. All the facilities were spotless, and the flowers in the ladies added a pleasant touch. The site is adjacent to the cricket ground and also within walking distance of the town. We will certainly return next time we are up in north Nottinghamshire!

We visited this site on May Bank Holiday and was the first time in using our trailer tent with electric hook. We wanted somewhere close to Clumber Park and this was the nearest site which had spacers at short notice. This site is a little gem after going through the housing estate and past the cricket pitch to get to it you are welcomed by a security barrier which opened up to a wonderfully clean and tidy site which the wardens take great pride in looking after. The site has both hard standing and grass pitches of which we had a grassed pitched because we had no hard standing pegs, the pitch was flat with lots of space, although children are not allowed to play ball in the area this didn't matter as we spent most of our time at Clumber Park. The showers are 20p for about 10 Min's which is plenty of time for me and 2 children, we were encouraged to clean the floor around the shower so the next person to use is not standing in your dirt which is a great plus. There is only 1 washing up sink and to make things a little easier they should look at putting in another to ease busy periods. The wardens are very helpful and told of good places to eat and go.Outside of the site there is lots of shops and takeaways. We will use this site again and tried for the second Bank Holiday but they were full!

Just read Harry's review, and generally agree with what he said - a very attractive site, with friendly helpful staff, and adequate facilites - although some laundry provision would be nice. The big downsider for us though was the temperature in the shower block - the heating was woefully inadequate for a site open all the year - we went there for Christmas, and thoroughly enjoyed everyhing except washing!
