We are members of The caravan club and camping and caravan club and if we find a few more private sites which can come close to the standard of this site and offer such value we will be leaving both clubs.
We found the site staff very cheery and helpful nothing was a problem. We agree with earlier comments re the combined shower and toilet, but they are nice and very clean.
Paying for the showers is a very good idea and considering the inexpensive site fees they are good value. We also noticed the dog fouling, which was quickly cleaned up, probably by the staff.
Cycling from the site is easy and enjoyable, during our visit we were able to easily cycle along the beach. Powfoot golf club is a short walk down the road and for visiting golfers they have some open events including a golf week. We will definitely be returning.
We didn't have children with us but considering the facilities available for children and the fact that the we had to rate for child friendliness we believe a rating of 8 may be appropriate.

My husband and I are currently spending our fourteenth visit to this Park in the last four years in a self catering static.
As always, the van is immaculately clean and extremely comfortable.
The Staff are always on hand with a cheery welcome and willing to help with any problems you may have.
Stupidly we couldn't get the laundry dryer to work but it was fixed in a jiffy for us.
Queensberry Bay is ideally situated with a wonderful view over the Solway Firth. Its lovely to watch the horses trot on the beach of an evening.
The Park itself is a fair size and ideal for us older folks to take a good flat walk. We usually get chatting to many of the residents who are every bit as nice as the staff.
The animals on site, mainly rescues, are delightful too.
Remember to purchase some carrots and ginger nuts for Eric the donkey and his friends which include Emus Horses, Pigs, Llamas, Alpacas, Goats and Highland cattle.
The reception doubles as a well stocked shop which has all the basics.
Should you need other supplies, head into Annan which is four miles down the road. No need for Morrisons here as there's a well stocked Cost cutter, Co-op and a large Tesco.
I can also recommend the Farmers Direct Shop in Annan Main St as they're steak pies and sausages are to die for.
In response to a previous review about dog fouling I have to say its the only Park I have ever been on that sends their staff out every morning to lift any dog poo so if anything its got less of a poo problem than most of the sites we used to visit when we had a touring van.
To sum up, we love this park and can highly recommend it.

Just back from our second visit to this site. I have a few comments to make both positive and negative.
Firstly the site is in a beautiful location. The facilities are second to none, we used the spa, and it's excellent. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. The initial price is very good, also various discounts available, ie first time visit to spa.
The camper's kitchen is the best I have seen in many years of camping and caravanning, same with the toilets and showers. First time I went to the showers I thought had walked into a posh hairdressers with the leather sofa and seats in front of the well lit dressing table mirrors. My only criticism of the shower block is that the shower and toilet are in the same cubicle. Site was very busy when we visited, and when the showers were in use so were the toilets. Could do with a couple of separate toilet cubicles. All in all though excellent facilities.
Here comes my biggest gripe, dog fouling. What is it with people who think it's ok to allow their dogs to do their business anywhere. Some cleaned up and a lot didn't. Too many dogs wandering about off the lead. No rule to keep dogs on a lead, only to 'be kept under control'. A lot of visitors had 2 dogs with them so doesn't need a lot of imagination to realise what is being deposited on the grass on a daily basis. First day I had to twice ask staff to clean up fresh deposits of dog faeces from our pitch, one of which was directly alongside our water barrel. Later we chased a dog away which was attempting to urinate on the water barrel.
We were told that there is right of way through the site and that the problem is caused by outsiders walking through with their dogs. Not completely true as we also saw touring campers who allowed their dogs to wander and defecate wherever. Ok, dogs have the occasional accident, but every day along the grass verges and on the pitches is awful. Staff do clean up, one of the staff told me they take it in turns in the morning to go around with a pail and shovel and remove the mess. However, that still means a residue can be left on the grass, not very nice to pitch your tent or awning or have a BBQ. Action to try and stop the mess in the first place would be better.
To conclude everything about the site warrants high marks except for the problem with dog fouling. Please, a specific dog walking area away from the pitches, and for dogs to be on leads while on the site would make such a difference. There is plenty of open space around the site where dogs can run free.
I really do hope Queensberry take on board my comments and try to address the issue, we did like the site and do want to go back.

Loved this site was a little worried as said not very much for kids but with its little farm and a beach we needed no more and they were very happy. All facilities were great and clean.
The only down side for us is we have 3 children so cant go back unless we have someone else with us to spread them out so I'm totally gutted as we would return there very soon if we could.
All in all a great site and would recommend.

Spent 3 days on site really enjoyed apart from rain ( good Scottish weather ). The staff were very friendly and helpful everything was very clean.
We hired the spa and it was out of this world, very refreshing must do if staying here. The toilet blocks, showers were very nice the only thing I would of changed was the toilet and shower was in same cubicle would of been better separate.
Nice area for visiting would definitely use site again. Plenty eating places in Annan 3 miles away great fish & chips Cafe Royal, pity about Powfoot Golf Hotel at the end of caravan site where we had a very poor meal and definitely wouldn't recommend.

Being new to campervans, having always been a tent preson, I decided to try my first trip close to home. Booking a pitch was easy, as was finding the pitch when I arrived.
The site was bigger than I'd expected, but there was plenty of space between units and it wad nice and quiet despite the number of units. I was very impressed by the toilet/ shower block, which was spotless and had complementary shampoo / conditioner / lotion available which I hadn't found on other sites.
The camper's kitchen was also useful with a microwave and electric kettle. The weather was kind so I was able to explore the paths and lanes around the site (I should have taken a map as there were none for sale and there were no shops closer than Annan)
There are lots of attractions within easy driving distance but I was there to relax so did my exploring on the way home. It would have been nice if there had been a cafe or restaurant on site or nearby (there is a golfing hotel along the way) but the site shop had a small selection of food and I managed quite well for the 2 nights I stayed.
All in all I would be happy to recommend this site for a relaxed holiday and would certainly come again!
PS I saw some previous reviews commenting on the animals on the site, I can only say that they all appeared happy and healthy, and had plenty of room to graze and wander about. No doubt some of the horses are elderly, and will sometimes look out of condition, but this happens to us all as we get older! I saw no problems at all.

This is our 2nd trip to Queensberry Bay this year, we visit this site often and never disappointed.
Pleasant and helpful staff.
First class facilities, and cannot pick fault, clean to a high standard.
The animal are an attraction to adults as well as the children.
Spa looks great although we have not used it would be worht having a pamper though
The wee shop has essentials, Annan a short drive away with a large Tesco as well as a selection of takeways.
As for paying for the showers, we don't have an issue with this.
Over all would recommend this site, its easy to find and easy to reach Dumfries.

Just returned from week at Queensberry Bay and it was 5* all the way. On arrival greeted by Nicola who knew I was arriving and all that I had requested, i. E spa break, manicure, facial, massage and the private use of spa facilities on two mornings and twilight. I stayed in the Wigwam, this had everything as on the website, it was lovely and warm and was on the sea front too. I have no object to paying £1 for a power shower, it had lots of power, there was no trying to get the water temp right and then 6 mins gone, the water temp is just right after about 30 seconds. Shampoo, conditioner and lotion all supplied. Very, very clean, don't think a speck of dust or dirt dare go there! The loos are lovely and clean. Used the hairdryer, yes its 20p, but you know it will work. The grounds are kept clean and smart. The shop on site is there for basic needs, icecream, hot chocolate and bacon butties and other things too :-)The goats were egging each other on to jump the wall, one gos all go, fun watching the staff rounding them up!Overall was a very relaxing time, had laughs too with the staff, no sour faces allowed :-). I was travelling on my own, so cannot comment on child friendliness.

We chose this site for a 5 day visit for our belated 'summer holiday' - luckily we got belated summer weather which no doubt helped us to enjoy our stay as the campsite is very exposed on the coast. In good weather its spectacular, in bad weather its probably too open!
The shower block, laundry, shop and kitchen were all spotless and the showers well worth the small charge. Only one point of concern is that there was only one sink for washing up dishes - there was never a queue when we were there but then the site was very quiet, I wonder if there would be a queue in peak season?
We didn't have much dealings with the site staff but they all seemed friendly and the site had a nice atmosphere.
If we come to the area again we would definitely stop here - especially if we get 10% off, they didn't tell us that at the time? I'd definitely recommend for anyone who wants a quiet site in a beautiful location :)

Just spent 2 nights here and I was well impressed by this site tucked away at the end of Powfoot, we were given a pitch right on the edge of the solway firth and the views of all the oyster catchers and other birds were stunning and free.
The showers were the best I have ever seen on any site ( I have been on plenty ) and for 40p you could have a shower and more smelly stuff than Superdrug sells thrown in for free as well.
The staff were very friendly and nice and took their time to show us the facilities ( Cathy's dead proud of this site and quite rightly). Even the wee guinea pigs and the wee fat pigs and the big horse were friendly ( but not the emu ).
Lovely shop and prices that don't rob you blind and gardens/ grounds that are kept nice and tidy as well.
Overall a very nice site and with the Powfoot hotel wi Sam Smiths pure brewed lager and just a wee walk away. Bliss. I would stop over on my travels again. Thanks
