We stayed at this site for two weeks in early July and if you want peace and quiet this is the quietest site we have ever stayed on. There is no road noise at all. As with most holidays this year the weather was very mixed and the hard standing pitch was worth every penny. We had a view across the grass pitches which were very wet due to the weather and took a long time to dry out.
The area is beautiful, the site being in the valley bottom, when you do drive out from the site the views are stunning. The wardens are friendly but not over fussy, and the facilities are spotless. Every day we were treated to a flying display by a pair of red kites but be advised as soon as you get the camera out they fly off.
The restaurant is a little expensive but it is absolutely top notch. The pitches are a little close together but the site was never full while we were there so not a problem. We also ate out in Sicklinghall at the Scotts Arms about two miles down the road this was pub grub at its best but go early as everyone from miles around knows about the great food.
Harrogate is a nice place to walk around and the park/gardens are well worth a stroll round. All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Maustin park and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Follow the route on the site brochure not Sat Nav and the roads are fine.

The awful weather broke beautifully for our arrival at Maustin for the weekend. It's tucked away in between the folds of perfect English countryside between Harewood House and Harrogate. The welcome was very friendly and relaxed. We took a hard standing pitch. Although they are narrow and a bit close together, we had an end pitch, which was ideally placed for the facilities.
The toilet/shower block is fairly new, and kept very clean indeed. Bit tight in the showers, but for some reason this seems to be a routine problem with the design of showers at most sites. Here, it's really because of a fold-down seat just outside the shower door. An array of hooks to hang stuff would work better than the seat I think.
The wardens are great at Maustin Park - couldn't do too much and in the friendliest way. The grounds are kept perfectly throughout. At its heart, is a flat-green bowling green for the Maustin Park bowling club. They were there on Saturday and Sunday morning and were a very friendly and chatty bunch. We didn't move off site except to go to a Wetherby supermarket for BBQ stuff.
Main criticism - For a motorhome (we were the only one), it is really difficult to get close to the grey water sink. And you need a fairly long hose to top up the tanks. This could be made a lot easier by moving a fenced flower bed which is very much in the way.
There is an excellent - and I really do mean excellent restaurant on site. We had takeaway fish and chips on the Friday evening, which would compare the the very best we have ever had in Whitby, and we had Sunday lunch. The restaurant was packed with well-dressed diners from the area around Maustin. Service was a bit slow, but the food was very good if a little pricey, although the desserts were as over-dressed as the diners! Nevertheless, a great dining experience.
All in all, we would definitely come back to this peaceful little haven and have no hesitation n recommending Maustin Park.

Our first trip of the year to Maustin. And it was wonderful. This is a lovely park if you want peace and quiet in lovely surroundings.
The Park is 5 star in every way, from our arrival and welcome by the girls in the office (one is the owner!) to the helpful staff on the Park & in The Stables, ensuring we had an enjoyable stay. In my mind the best was yet to come.
We had a lazy week end, Fish and Chips take away Friday, after a couple of pints of Theakstons and a fantastic G&T (prices are regular pub prices)
We also ate in The Stables Saturday night, the bar is lovely and the place very cosy, with lots of room to sit and enjoy a drink. Well dinner was Wow wow wow, not what you would expect from a caravan park at all. My husband and I had a brilliant break and left totally relaxed and full! Looking forward to our return very soon.
Before our visit I did look at the previous reviews, but I do make my own mind up. Judith and her team do a great job, keep up the good work. (P. S and they do serve roast potatoes with their Sunday lunch!)

This was our first ever camping weekend, so didn't really know what to expect.
The site was easy to find and were shown to our pitch which was of ample size, flat and considering the amount of rain lately was in very good condition and not at all stony. This made it very easy for us to pitch our tent, even for us newbies!
The shower and toilet blocks are close by, very clean and well maintained. The showers themselves are lovely, with plenty of room and the water is hot. The changing cubicle outside the shower is on the small side and could do with a couple more hooks for hanging things up.
The site itself is very relaxed and very peaceful, just what we needed.
The biggest disappointment for us was the bar and restaurant, which felt unwelcoming and expensive. The first night we tried it the back room was full with people watching football but the restaurant area was empty with people stood around the bar, drink prices were high and no-one seemed to be allowed to sit in the restaurant area unless dining, even though it was empty.
We went back for Sunday lunch, the place was full and very loud, it didn't feel comfortable. The food was mostly very good, but how you can serve a Sunday roast without roast potatoes I don't know.
Overall though, a very enjoyable weekend away.

We have just returned from 4 nights staying at Maustin Park. We booked this back last year and asked to be closed to the facilities due to me being disabled.
Despite this we were stuck on the end of a row ( on a space they don't normally use, our EHU lead was 10 mts short from the EHU point). We had a caravan at the side of us, then at the back of us another caravan, but it was that close, the car was parked 1 inch form our guy lines of our tent.
The pitches are very small, and not a lot of space between each. We took our smaller tent and it only just got on the pitch.
The staff were not that helpful at check in, however the male warden was very helpful, got us and extension for the EHU, and he told us where everything was.
The facilities are very clean, however the shower units are very small, and not enough hooks, plus only 2 showers in the ladies and gents.
We didn't use the bar or restaurant, as we felt that it was very overpriced, plus you were not made to feel welcome.
They make a point of saying no noise after 11pm, however there was a large group that were very loud till 11. 45pm.
The area is wonderful, and a great walking area.
Overall we have been to better Adult Only sites in Yorkshire and would not return to Maustin Park.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at Maustin Park. Lovely site. Good sized grass pitch, some had hard standing pitches. Very clean and warm washrooms.
The whole site is very well kept. Good pub/restaurant on site. Nice off site walks for dogs in immediate area. Very, very peaceful, the only sound was of the many birds.
At least three pubs maximum 2 miles away.
My only problem was coming from the north I followed my sat nav for the last few miles which took me on single track roads and meeting other traffic coming other way which was horrible.
I should have followed the directions which is on the Maustin Park confirmation letter which takes you there by normal roads.

We booked this site based on the other reviews. We wanted peace but with easy access to Leeds / Wetherby / Thirsk where we had a few commitments and in this respect it satisfied our needs.
Booking process:
I booked online and was a bit perplexed when the debit/credit card facility wouldn't accept card start dates later than 2009. I sent an email pointing this out & giving my correct date. The money was taken so there clearly wasn't a problem. I got a 'thank you for booking' email with a reference no on 25/3. It said I would receive confirmation but nothing arrived by post or email before we left home on 30/3. I am still away now so perhaps it's arrived at home in the post. On Friday morning I emailed to say I hadn't had final confirmation and to give an approximate arrival time; I got a reply saying confirmation had been sent and that they looked forward to our arrival.
Arrival
We used the SatNav (CoPilot) and it did take us a sensible route (A61, Swindon Lane, Spring Lane, Wharfe Lane). I think other routes might not have been great fun towing.
On getting here late afternoon we found the office was closed with a note displayed telling us which pitch to use. We went to fill up the aquaroll and were annoyed to find dog mess strewn down the gravel roadway to the amenities block and tried to make mental note of where not to tread in the dark!
To two sides of the touring park is a privately-owned statics park with barriers. We had a quick look for the Stables restaurant that we'd seen on the website. We saw what looked like its patio next to the bowling green but it looked decidedly closed. We didn't investigate further as that'd have meant walking through the statics' area & we thought we wouldn't be welcome to walk through there.
We were tired and went to Wetherby for something to eat. On the way back we drove round Wharfe Lane from the other end. And discovered the entrance to the restaurant with a full car-park. Clearly there is access to it from the site, but it wasn't at all obvious.
Pitch & Amenities
The site is generally well maintained and the amenities block is clean and warm. There's a good washing up room with 2 large sinks and a laundry with a washer and dryer. The ladies' has two wall mounted swimming-pool style hairdryers, two showers with complementary showergel available (hotel style miniatures) in case you forgot yours, one washbasin-cubicle and 3 or 4 toilets.
One toilet has a large worktop area which looks like a baby-changing area. But this is an adults-only site? The site wasn't busy so no queuing for loos/showers. There are 8 hardstanding pitches which are slightly sloping back to front and also down towards the nearside. Pitch 8 seemed to have the biggest back to front gradient.
Each pitch has a gravel area, a line of paving stones and then a grass area. A barriered exit from the statics park comes out between pitches 4 & 5.
Owners
It's Monday night & we've been here since Friday but we have yet to meet them; every time I've been to the loo block so far the office has been closed. I did see someone yesterday apparently advising a neighbouring arrival on pitching, but I'm not sure if that was the owner or not.
Cost
It's a bit high at £21, but includes ehu, showers, washing up water and wifi.
Overall we are pleased with the site.
Surrounding area:
Harrogate is well worth visiting. The Turkish Baths are great for relaxation. We visited the Royal Horticultural Soc gardens at Harlow Carr just outside Harrogate - very nice.

Just returned from 3 nights at Maustin Park, this being our first visit. We selected the site as it was only 30 minutes from home, so convenient for first outing of the season and also because of the great reviews from previous visitors i. E. 9/10 or 10/10 from everyone.
On arrival the touring field was very wet with a warning board advising of this as we entered the gate. However the 8 hard standings were all booked so we made the best of it. The check in was quick and the lady was friendly and helpful providing us with information leaflets for the park. The toilet block/washing up room were both clean & tidy with bic razors and liquid soap available as described by other reviewers (a nice touch). However one of the shower doors in the mens was sprained, as a result it would not close properly, resulting in a puddle of water in the shower room after use each day we were there. It was never repaired despite being obviously defective. The restaurant was not open during our visit, apparently it opens the following weekend, i. E. 16-03-12, which was disappointing.
The area around the park is fantastic with breathtaking views of the Wharfe valley from the ridge just a ten minute walk above the park. The towns of Wetherby, Harrogate, Otley & Ilkley were all close by and are all worth a visit with good shops, pubs, restaurants etc in abundance.
Had a very good 3 days and would go back again and would also recommend the park to others. However I think the scores by other previewers are a tad high. Yes, it was good but I have been to better sites in North Yorkshire.

Stayed at this campsite for one night, just to familiarize ourselves with a new motor home.
From booking to leaving site this was a first class experience.
The welcome pack was dispatched on the day of booking and provided a great overview of the site, as well as great directions.
The welcome was warm and friendly and the site was immaculate with superb toilet and shower facilities. A nice touch was the complimentary razors/soaps for the forgetful campers.
The Stables bar provided great value food and service was excellent. (I can highly recommend the Yorkshire Cheeseboard)
Overall a great experience with no troubles that allowed us to enjoy our first motor home experience.

We have just returned from a one nght stay at Maustin Park, we only wish we could have stayed longer. Booked as a last minute night away without the children, we couldn't have picked a better site.
Despite only living a few miles away in Harrogate, we felt like we were in another world. Quiet, relaxing, spotlessly clean, friendly staff, couldn't be faulted.
Lovely surrounding area and we did a great 8 mile walk round three local villages
We'll definitely be returning.
