We visited the site for the weekend 26-28 July 2013 to enable us to watch the Home Countries regatta. The site could not be better located for the National Water Sports Centre, with three pedestrian exits from the site going towards the centre.
The hardstanding pitch we occupied was huge, hardstanding for the caravan, grass for the awning and enough room to park at least two cars!
Right, good/great points. Huge grassy site, loads of room for children to rush about, play area, hardstandings aligned so sun stayed on pitch, no shadows causing early bed! Easy access to regatta lake, fees not unreasonable at £18 per night for hookup pitch. Pitch allocated prior to arrival meant that the trawl around looking for a pitch was saved. 25amp setting on circuit breakers meant no worries about using more that one appliance. Loads of waste bins dotted about, although a bit too high for some of the children tasked with taking the rubbish.
Set against a few areas which could be improved. The size of the site means the toilet block is at maximum for most of the day, gets messy and the floor continuously wet, an additional and new one would be good, as well as allowing a closure to upgrade the old one. A keypad access to the site is on the near side meaning a solo driver has to switch off and leg it around to put in the access code.
The chemical toilet disposal points are in the main camping area, near the toilet block, or next to the roads might be better.
Finally, as the site is a regatta home to many young adults who are using the water sports facility, night time patrols might be a good idea, to enforce the 2300 silence rule.
But, we will be using it again

Had a 3 night Bank Holiday Break with the family to try out our new caravan so chose a site on our doorstep. Had to pay for the 3 nights as a min, but at £18. 00 a night not too bad at all.
As expected the site was busy but not overly crowded, we had a large hard standing pitch which was nice and tidy and easy to get the caravan onto which was great for a new vanner like myself!
Found the park to be clean and tidy although the bins were over flowing nearest to us by the end of the week end and had to walk to some others that were nearly empty (Some people are just so lazy!)
Never tried the showers so cant comment, toilets were clean but the Gents were a bit pongy, but I suppose to be expected when busy.
Water, Waste and Elsan not to far away and no bother at all.
Would go again for a little break as a couple, although there is a park etc, not too much to do for little one's
Would go again

Just spent two nights at the site and already booked to return in June. Excellent location for water sports centre. Hard standing pitches and grass pitches available. Large tent field. Caravan rally and university rowing comps on at time and site was busy but you didn't feel overcrowded. Nice walks and cycling around lake and into west bridgeford. Didn't use shower block so can't comment, toilet block adequate. Plenty of room for kids to play and cycle. All in all good value for money and good base for National Water Sports Centre.

We visited this site for 3 nights over the May Day bank holiday.
It is a nice, open site, and feels very much as though it is in the countryside. It is convenient for Nottingham, and easy to drive there or to get a taxi to take you there if necessary.
We have very mixed feelings about this site.
The pitches are a good size. We were not able to pitch our awning up on our hardstanding despite lengthy attempts, so had to reposition our caravan at the edge of the hardstanding so that we could put the awning on the grass. Most of the caravans in our 'bay' had the same problem.
The toilets and showers are fairly basic, but not bad, especially for the price. However, the standard of cleaning was poor. In the male toilet, someone had been sick on the Sunday night, and this had still not been cleaned up by Monday afternoon.
The washing up sinks are outside, and were disgusting; people had left waste and rubbish in the sinks. There were problems with the water pressure and one of the sinks had no cold water.
We were obviously extremely unlucky that were were some very inconsiderate, not to say dirty, campers on the site that weekend, but we would expect shower blocks etc to be cleaned every morning.
We would probably return to this site mainly because of its location so close to Nottingham, and hope that none of the disgusting campers turn up at the same time.

For £9 a night I thought this was an excellent site for what was on offer, I paid for two nights, intending to stay for 3 but came home after one night. There was some sort Of caravanners get together that obviously had entertainment laid on and all I could hear was boom boom boom. There is a strict policy of no loud music after 11pm and this was adhered to but by 11pm it was too late, sleep was going to be elusive, it didn't help that after 11 and everything had gone quiet I could hear the lorries thundering along the A52. Although it is set well away from this road in the still of the night when all is quiet. If you're a light sleeper maybe best keeping this in mind.
After saying all that I would probably return because I think its great value for money and only half an hour drive away so when nice weather does show its face as it has done this weekend its a nice little getaway. And although I'm not into water sports it was nice to walk round the park and watch the canoeing and rafting and enjoy being outdoors. Next time I'd choose more carefully where to pitch up, and take earplugs, sleeping tablets, or copious amounts of wine so any noise doesn't bother me.

Love this site the people are so fantastic and helpful
I return every year. The local pub we walked to did nice food too and you get a discount, the playground is nice. The giant sandpit for the kids is brilliant ( but don't put good clothes on ), and once again I'm looking forward to the halloween bash in October. Will be a good one again. I think the only thing this site needs is more showers and toilets. That's the only criticism I've got. Thank you all and see you soon

Returned from a 3 day bank holiday weekend break at this site. There was a rowing regatta on at the national Water centre which increased number of people on the site.
Site good, toilet blocks(*2) clean. Showers not so as there was allot of mud in the shower cubicles partly because the site was very wet. Would have liked some soap in the second smaller toilet block.
Great location for the water sports centre and Nottingham itself.
Site facilities good for the kids. When dry!. And although there is a marquee that they show the football in and have disco's it was not noisy late into the night when we were there.
They have a large rally field but this doesn't effect the rest of the site.

Just returned from a 4 day break - our first visit to this site and will definitely be returning later in the year.
We were sited on a hard standing due to the heavy rain prior to our arrival.
The site is very well kept - with ECU close to pitches and looked quite new.
Noise was not an issue - although there was a fairly large rally close by - all noise ceased by 10pm.
The area is very well served for cyclists with cycle routes going past the site as well as the obvious water sport facilities.
All in all a very good site and would recommend to anyone.

Just returned home after spending the weekend with my wife and children on one of the fairly new hard standing pitches, (new this year) and had a very good time at their annual Halloween party. The site has had some major improvements carried out over the winter months with some good sized hard standing pitches you have plenty of space for caravan, awning and car. Also new to the site is the children's play area and sand pit this has proven to be a big hit with our children. The shower block is clean, if not a little out dated but perfectly usable - I heard a rumour an additional block could be on the horizon, I hope this is true as it would improve a already good site. The site wardens are very friendly and helpful as are the rest of the staff who strive to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. There is a small shop on site offering the basics, A supermarket is 5 mins away by car as is the town of West Bridgford offering shops, bars and places to eat. Looking forward to our next visit.
