Stayed here last week as I wanted to try out my newly acquired gear before the winter sets in. Booking was easy and I was given a warm welcome on arrival. The ground was soft making it easy to pitch my tent. Toilets etc were spotlessly clean. The sound of the waterfall soothed me to sleep after a days motorcycling and sightseeing in this lovely part of the world. Would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful site the river running at the side was lovely. Very clean and friendly. The bacon and egg butty sets you up lovely for the day. We walked to Watersmeet across the top a bit of a walk with two dogs, took approx two hours. A lot of up hill and down zig zag slopes, however the views are fab. Be prepared for quite a wait if busy at Watersmeet, lovely atmosphere but almost 40min to get served. The walk back along the river a lot easier, would recommend that way just take the path opposite the pub. Not a big site no club house just peace and quiet wonderful.

Lovely site with the river running to one side and great to access to National Trust walks from site - very picturesque scenery all round.
Having the shop and cafe was really handy; we took the opportunity to have breakfast - very nice.
The wardens were really friendly and very happy to help with anything needed.
My parents stayed in a static caravan which was spotlessly clean - they were very impressed.
We all loved the site and the location, tight turn into the site for bigger units and hilly but it is North Devon after all so not unexpected!
We would certainly choose this site if staying in the area again.

We have been caravanning and motorhoming for many years now in Britain and Europe but I can honestly say that this is one of the best sites I have ever stayed on. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful pointing out walks from the campsite etc, there is a stream flowing through the site and the wooded valley is a joy. It is also adjacent to a nice pub so what more could you ask for? The facilities are clean and there are not too many rules! The walk into Lynmouth is lovely (via the cliff railway if you like) and Lynton and Lynmouth are excellent places to enjoy. The site also has a cafe so you don't have to cook if you don't want to and is quite small which suits us. Highly recommended.

I stayed here over Easter for a Geocaching holiday and decided on this site because it is the only one that is walking distance to a town. I am glad I did!
I try and avoid sites that have a clubhouse, noisy children and a list of rules as long as your arm and this fitted the bill perfectly. The site is quiet (the adjacent road noise is overshadowed by the sound of the river) level and the facilities were in good order.
I did not use the cafe so cannot comment on this but can recommend this to anyone who is looking to stay in the Lynton/Lynmouth area.

What an absolute gem! We pitched next to the river which is delightful and thoroughly loved the walks with our dog in the woods just over the bridge. Highly recommend walking to Watersmeet National Trust cafe and beyond as the scenery is stunning. Facilities immaculate and staff friendly. Truly recommended.

This site is very well placed for exploring Exmoor. Site entrance is difficult and it is best to take the owners advice and drive on down to Lynton, turn around and get a better approach to the entrance, especially during busy times. All in all we had a very good stay and the Wardens couldn't do enough to help us. One observation I would make is having to walk the length of the site to use the facilities. It would enhance the site if the facilities were positioned at the centre of the site.

Well after 3 nights here we sadly left after a great time.
Just a short walk to Lynton (find the short cut don't take the road) where you can shop then easily access by foot or Venicular the lovely Lynmouth below, both are very pleasant indeed.
Adjoining the site over the River bridge is direct access to the Woods, hills and many fine walks to enjoy with or without Dogs, the river (Lyn) walks go both up and down river so you choose.
Buy a £2. 00 map (goes to Charity) from the site shop as all the walks are clearly shown, we did both small and large walks and the map was spot on, one walk took us to the simply beautiful Watersmeet Lodge a National Trust Tea room in a stunning riverside location, then following the river into lynmouth and finally back to base, in all about 5 miles and all with views to die for but not for the unfit as very steep at times.
Site wise Chris the owner and staff were all very nice and the site was always tidy with a handy little shop. Shower/toilets a little tired but all free without push buttons but only 4 showers for the whole site, no problems though.
Motorhome/Caravan wise they have just 5 hardstandings which although small are fine, each having a TV point which helped us as in a valley I couldn't get satellite signal. I would ensure you state hardstanding as they have another 3/4 pitches which I would class as in a car park rather than pitches so note this as there not good at all bar a quick overnight stay.
Phone signal on Vodaphone and EE forget it, the whole area signal wise is dead but the site offers good strong payable wifi, one package was £6 for 48 hours eek.
Motorhome/Caravans to avoid the dreaded Porlock Hill go via Tiverton towards Barnstaple as that's fine but the site has a hairpin entrance so better to enter/leave by going straight passed the entrance, pop into Lynton do a 360 then head back then its easy.
Were going back for more walks which I think says it all.

On a day trip to Lynton and Lynmouth in July 2013 my wife and I fell in love with the place. After some research we found Sunny Lyn Holiday Park.
Wow, what a place. We made this our 2 week summer holiday. Normally we go to big 4 or 5 star sites with loads of amenities available. I was so glad that we sacrificed some of this to stay at Sunny Lyn.
The owners Chris and his wife and the staff couldn't be more helpful.
Yes the shower blocks are not new and pristine, but they are always clean and perfectly adequate. Items in the shop are sensibly priced, certainly not extortionate in any way. As with all campsite shops you wouldn't want to do your weekly shop there.
If you need information about where to shop, where to eat, local walks or places to visit it will be forthcoming from Chris and his team.
The cafe that is open for breakfast is very good value and the food is nice and clean.
Pitches on the small camping field are flat and grassy and the proximity of the river is fantastic. I love the sound of moving water and the noise it makes rushing over and around the rocks is superb.
No swimming pool, no clubhouse, no entertainment, no problem! We had a great 2 week stay in a place of outstanding natural beauty just relaxing and making our own entertainment.
This is not the ideal place for young children because of the river but the children I saw there seemed to manage ok.
To be honest wherever you are on the site it shouldn't take you more than a minute or so to reach the shower block. So I would suggest Chris doesn't go rushing out to move them just yet.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this site and have already booked my pitch for 2 weeks in July 2015.

We have finally stayed on this site after driving past for many years saying one day when we have a caravan we will stay there and it was great.
The site was situated in lovely surroundings and so quiet. The showers and toilets were very clean although as said before could do with a face lift and maybe a few extra showers as sometimes had a small queue.
The staff were so friendly and very helpful as we had a truck towing our unit and needed help on and off site as was tight for us getting out nothing was too much trouble.
We had too fantastic meals in the pub right next to site 'cottage Inn' would highly recommend the fish and chips best we have had for years so fresh and tasty. The landlord and staff were also friendly and helpful again nothing was too much trouble.
Our little one didn't want to leave was a fantastic site and would highly recommend a stay there!
