We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of July after reading the very positive reviews and this site didn't disappoint. The site is nested into the valley with a very picturesque river/waterfalls running alongside. It's probably not ideal for very young children but we found it idyllic. The shower/toilet blocks are very clean and well looked after and the water was always piping hot and although they could probably do with a facelift we always found them pleasant to use. There is a little shop on site which sells most things you need for camping such as BBQs, charcoal, folding chairs etc and you can hire windbreaks which was a Godsend in the hot weather! The on site cafe does a cracking breakfast which is very reasonably priced and the staff were all extremely friendly. Next to the site the Cottage pub does great food and even offers a takeaway pizza service - very handy! The Lynway path opposite the site takes you into Lynton (10 mins walk) and the Crown pub at the other end of the path also does great food including a takeaway curry service. We are so pleased we stumbled upon this site and can't wait to return and cannot recommend it highly enough.

We enjoyed the bank holiday weekend at this site with our campervan. The location is lovely, a peaceful valley with the beautiful shallow river right next to the site. Our children loved it - would be a bit scary with toddlers or tinies though as the river is unfenced.
Although the site is next to the road, we weren't bothered by any traffic noise.
Toilets, showers & washing up facilities were all very clean, toilets spacious too although ladies showers a bit cramped and dated.
We got a warm and efficient welcome when we arrived, and the practical approach to latecomers on a bank holiday Friday was appreciated.
We had a good meal at the pub next to the site, glad we went early as I think we got the only unreserved table. Nice pub, friendly service, free Wi-Fi too.
A huge benefit of the site is that you can cross the river and immediately walk into woodland and enjoy the fantastic walks nearby. The dog approved.
A short walk into Lynton and the cliff railway with access to Lynmouth.
All in all - a lovely quiet site, hope to return soon.

Stayed at this lovely little site for 2 nights. The owners allowed us to pitch 2 small tents on same pitch at just £7. 50 pppn which included shared electric.
We were down in the area Geocaching and wanted somewhere close to Parracombe. This was 10 minutes away by car and a n excellent base.
We loved the fact that there was a stream flowing at side of site and that we were just a 10 minute walk to Lynton/Lynmouth.
The pub next door 'The Cottage' had excellent service, they helped us out with a meal after we found out the chipshop at Lynmouth closed at 9pm each night :(
The toilet block /showers were dated but in very clean condition and suited its purpose.
Cannot fault this site at all and would stay again.

Lovely site, we arrived on spec and owner was extremely helpful and able to find us a space. Small site with good facilities; shower and toilet block spotless but would probably benefit from a facelift.
Very reasonable site fee (£8 pppn) inc electric but dogs charged at £2. 50 pn extra which if you have more than one puts the price up
Site is next door to a newly refurbished pub, The Cottage Inn - very friendly pub, reasonable prices and food excellent. Highly recommended!
Entry to site is quite steep and would recommend on arrival driving past site to the car park in Lynton, then turning round and coming back :-D
10 minute walk into Lynton with plenty of little shops and further short walk down to Lynmouth where more cafes/pubs etc
Excellent site and we will definitely be back!

Very friendly campsite. The Lynton / Lynmouth area is one of the most attractive in Exmoor and this campsite is ideally situated. It is fairly small and is beside the river with pretty waterfalls.
The facilities are fine, a little dated, and the toilet block was heated in July because of the weather!
There is a very steep hill joining Lynton / Lynmouth with a hairpin bend - ok for a motorhome but caravans have to take the alternative route.

Have just spent a couple of nights at this lovely camp site in a motor home with electric hook up. Read all the reviews before choosing this one and we weren't disappointed, even in the rain.
Right at the start really helpful chap on the phone at time of booking. Then when we arrived, he greeted us by name, again very helpful.
Very picturesque wooded surroundings with river/waterfall running through site. Very convenient to Lynton & Lynmouth.
About 10 min walk to Lynton (quite steep hill on way back), then £3 return fare on the cliff railway to Lynmouth.
As already recommended, great fish & chips at esplanade shop at Lynmouth. The pub next to the site (The Cottage Inn) has re-opened just a few weeks ago and is fab! Food great & reasonably priced, sofa beside lit woodburner (yes, in June! due to the bad weather!), welcoming atmosphere. Fish specials board was based around cod that the landlord had caught himself at Salcombe!
I do agree with the shower block comments, bit of a tight space. Could do with a slatted board on the floor beside shower as does get very wet due to confined space. Certainly wouldn't stop us going back.
Well worth a visit!

This is a pleasant clean and tidy site with good walking in the immediate are. The hard standing pitches are a little close together. There is plenty of room if you are pitching a tent. Please read the terms and conditions of the site before making your booking.
A warning to long wheel-base vehicles, the entrance to the site is dangerous on a near 360 degree bend when approached from Barbrook towards Lynton with an approximate 20 foot drop.
We should have been told only to approach from Barnstable on the A39 to go past the site entrance turn around in the public car park at Lynton and re-approach.
There is a strong river and waterfalls on the edge of the site making it unsafe for young children.
The shower & W/c block is exceptionally clean, though the shower cubicle is limited in space and the water was not always hot.
There are supplies available from the shop and breakfast is available in the mornings.
The adjacent public house was closed for refurbishment. It is possible to walk into Lynton up and down hill. The Bath Hotel in Lynmouth was enjoyable with reasonably priced bar food.

Just come back from a 4 day break & the weather was surprisingly good for April. I have been to this lovely campsite many times over the years. The site is in a beautiful position with a stream running through it. They serve breakfast in the mornings in the cafe above the reception and small shop. There is the bridge inn pub (closed for refurbishment) at the bottom of the site. There are 2 sinks for washing up, a laundry room, heated toilet block, but the 2 showers are not heated if you close to the toilets. A walk over to Watersmeet is well worth the effort too.

What a lovely site. One of the nicest ones I`ve ever been on and I`ve been camping for years.
No its not the biggest (far from it) and it doesn`t have a club or pub but its none the worse for it.
Its ideal to explore Lynton & Lynmouth with its many walks. I`d not been to Lynton or Lynmouth since I was about 14 so it was a nice walk down memory lane.
The Cliff railway which connects the 2 places is great. Very interesting and £3 return. It can get very very busy so be prepared to queue ! The museum which details the floods is very interesting (and free !)
There is a public footpath about 10 minutes from the site which takes you into Lynton and avoids all the main roads and is lit even late at night. No need for a torch !
The site has quite a dated shower and toilet block but it was clean and it all worked so no problems there. The showers were particularly good.
The shop was very well stocked and had good prices. The chap running it was very friendly and made you feel at home and took time out to show you to your pitch. He also gave me a brochure and explained where things were in the 2 towns.
There is a very pleasant `river` running alongside the site which may bother some people as its quite `noisy` but I liked it. I spent an afternoon sprawled on the river bank reading in the glorious sunshine. Bliss !
The cafe has a good view of the site and the river and is very good value for money. The food was top notch. You can eat in or out on the terrace on tables/benches.
The pub next door (The Bridge Inn)never seemed to be open ? Not really a problem as 2 pubs in Lynton and 4 or 5 in Lynmouth. Best pub is The Crown in Lynton. A fabulous pub.
Great value for money for tents (under £7 a night).
Not really for kids as no play area and Lynton/Lynmouth isn`t the most exciting place for children.
A top site. One I will definitely be re-visiting

An absolute gem of a site, we pitched next to the river which runs through and our 6 year old spent many happy hours playing in the water.
Owners really friendly and helpful, shop had everything you need, even a cafe on site doing breakfasts.
The toilet block could do with updating but was always clean and no queues. Excellent base for visiting all the tourist spots either walking or by car.
Recommend walking to Watersmeet from the site, takes a few hours but the views along the way and Watersmeet at the end make it worth the effort.
Linton and Lynmouth are both well worth a visit, lovely coffee shops etc, kids loved the Cliff Railway which is worth at least one go on, the scenic walk from Lynmouth back to Lynton is really steep but well worth having a go and stopping every so often to get your breathe back and take in the scenery.
