Excellent campsite. We had a great stay here, we would definitely go back again. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming.
The site is well located within easy walking distance (10 mins max) to nearest town, which has a few restaurants and pubs and lovely little shops.
We were having a lazy camping holiday so having the cafe on site was great, the breakfast was lovely every morning and was reasonably priced too (£1.75 for scrambled eggs on toast, 75p for a pot of tea).
The 2 showers had plenty of hot water and we never once had to queue even though the site was quite full. The only down side is if some one leaves the door open on there way out of the shower block there is a draft. There are plenty of toilets and sinks and the whole shower block was always spotless.
The pub at the end of the camp site is very handy and the food was pretty good too traditional pub type menu but good sized portions and reasonably priced. Try the strawberry cider its lovely.
The site is located in a lovely area with plenty to see and do. The drive to the camp site is steep if coming from Lynmouth way I can imagine this isn't the easiest with a caravan.
The site is located next to the river, which you can hear but it never kept us awake.
All in all I would recommend this site, we had an excellent time.

Lovely position, great for walks and not far from town, but we didn't find the owners very helpful. In fact my husband towed another campervan out of a patch of soft ground since the owner did not appear able to do so. Also, the shop was closed most of the time. The ladies showers were frequently blocked with hair, despite notices to users to clean out the little filters. Price reasonable for July.

A very pretty campsite. My only concern is the access if towing a caravan. The turn into the site is almost impossible if towing a van. The advice of the site is to continue down the extremely steep hill into Lynmouth and turn in the car park before heading back up the hill and into the site. The only issue with this is that the hill in question is prohibited to caravans, there are big signs at the bottom warning of the gradient and clearly stating that caravans must not be taken up the hill. It seems wrong to have to approach a site up a road that is illegal for caravans to use.
The site is quite small and every bit of space used up. The caravan / motorhome sites are very close to each other - to the degree that we could only really see the next door motorhome from our awning and not much else. Make sure you are good at reversing your van if you go here, as the space is very tight!
Facilities seemed OK, although the showers are tiny and not all that warm in my experience.
I would say this is a great site for camping, but if you are towing a caravan I would avoid the headache of accessing this site and go elsewhere with better access and more room.

As has already been said - a real gem of a site. I do agree that the shower cubicles are rather small, I found it easier to dress in the toilets, at least the floor was dry! Although the bus stop was in Lynton about 3/4 mile away it was a hard pull back to the campsite, however if asked nicely the bus driver will drop you at the top of the road before he goes into Lynton so you only have to walk down. A return visit is certainly on the cards.

A lovely little site set in beautiful countryside. We visited at the end of half term in May when the weather was extremely unpredictable! The site is literally off the road which leads into Lynton, which on first impression was a little disappointing being so near the road - however this was NOT a problem as there was very little traffic or disturbance of any kind from the road. The site has a few pitches for statics and tourers, then a level grassed area next to the river for tents, I could imagine that when they are full it would be quite cramped, but there was plenty of space when we were there. Extremely friendly staff showed us where to pitch and gave us a run down of surrounding area, places of interest, pubs etc. 2 ladies showers and plenty of loo's and sinks - all very clean; only criticism of showers is cubicule is small, but it does the job! The river flowing through the site is lovely, but be warned it is noisy! But rather the sound of rushing water than cars / other noisy campers! We ate in the pub next to the site which was basic pub grub, child & pet friendly. Did a lovely walk from the site to Watersmeet (fantastic!) and then on to Lynmouth where I had the best fish and chips ever, then we used the cliff railway to get back up to Lynton and then back to the site. All in all I would recommend this site to anyone wanting to explore this area of Devon.

Stayed here in mid June and had a marvellous time. The site is right next to the river and woods and is a lovely place to camp. The pitches themselves seemed like it could be quite crowded at peak times however there were only a handful of other people there. The facilities were nice and clean and there is a pub at the end of the field. Some lovely walks straight from the site to Lyton or through the woods down to Lynmouth. I would definitely recommend this site and we will hopefully visit it again next year.

This is a beautiful site - small, friendly and in a lovely location next to the river. You have a sense that it hasn't changed in many years, but as the setting is so perfect it doesn't need anything extra. There is a small area for tents alongside the river - cars are parked on the nearby path. There are hard standing pitches nearby and a row of static caravans for hire. The toilets and showers are basic but spotless. There is a pub at the end of the campsite, which is child friendly and reasonably priced. The campsite has its own shop, which was fine for basics. There is also a great cafe open at breakfast time. The staff are very welcoming. I can't wait to go back (when it isn't raining!).

What a stunning find. Really friendly staff, wonderful location for natural beauty and good walks and nice pub on the doorstep. A small camping area but right on the river. Lovely. Toilets etc really clean and nicely retro. I hope they don't update them as it takes me back to my childhood. Shop seemed well stocked but didn't seem to be open when it said it would be (guess that's low season for you). Rates seemed less extortionate than some other sites. Can't wait to return.

We spent 5 days at this lovely little site for our Easter break. Be careful if you're approaching from Barnstaple with a motorhome or caravan as there's very sharp turn into the site. If you feel you can't negotiate it just carry on to Lynton where there's a big car park where you can turn around and then approach the entrance from the other direction (it's easy then).
Had a great welcome from the owner, with lots of info on the area. The setting is beautiful, next to the River and with a pub right next door. The toilet block is a little outdated but always spotlessly clean. We were hoping to just leave the van on site and walk everywhere and we weren't disappointed (especially our 3 dogs). We aren't serious walkers but we must have covered miles, the footpaths are so good around the area.
As has been said, it's only 10 mins into Lynton and a little longer down to Lynmouth. The twin towns are extremely dog-friendly, especially the pubs but we also came across a cafe with a sign in the window welcoming dogs and that's a rarity! This is one site we'll definitely be going back to.

Stayed here over the easter weekend, which people may remember was really windy. However the site is in a valley and misses the worst of it. Which is always good to know! The ground was of a good condition, not to rocky and didnt get boggy in the rain, the river which runs by the field takes most of the water.
This is one of the nicest little sites we've been to over the past few years. The owners are really nice and friendly and always ready to help. There are set out places for pitching your tent and can be booked in advance, the toilets are really clean and heated, the showers are free and always hot, although the shower heads could be better, as they tended to spray around a bit, but thats the only gripe I have. The little shop on site sells all the basics you need plus wines and beers. There is a nice little laundrette, I think the dryers were 50p for 18min which is ample for a few towels and any wet clothing, also has washing machines, spin dryer, iron and board but I didnt use them.
The river is quite noisey but didnt bother us at night, in fact it got rid of the noise of others talking late at night, which you usually get on camp sites, so this helped us sleep.
The pub is a minute walk away at the end of the site, nice log fire keeps it warm, good ales and cider and the menus been updated with some nice dishes, I had a 16oz T-bone which was fantastic.
The two villages of Lynmouth & Lynbridge are within walking distance. Although Lynmouth is down a very very 1 in 4 steep hill, fine going down but not up, you can use the cliff railway to get up to Lynton then its downhill to the campsite. Thats about £2 each
