I absolutely loved this place and am desperate to get back the location is absolutely wonderful and very relaxing.

We went for a few nights during the early May bank holiday (arrived Sunday). There were quite a few other tents there and the camping area is quite small but it didn't feel cramped at all. Most people went home on the Monday which meant our second night was very quiet which was lovely.

There is an on site cafe which serves breakfast, probably the best breakfast ever and very reasonably priced.

There seems to be quite a few people who work on the site but all were very friendly and helpful and were happy to have a chat about the local area and give advice on where to go.

It is quite a short walk into Lynton but it is uphill on the way back. Very uphill. There are plenty of places in Lynton and Lynmouth to eat and there is a very well stocked Cost Cutters in Lynton.

The only thing I would change about this site is the toilets/showers, they were fine but they do let everything down a little bit because they don't feel clean and the showers are quite cramped you need to change in a toilet cubicle. This would never put me off going though!

I have put 5 out of 10 for child friendliness, I do not have children but think that the close proximity to both the river(although shallow) and the road(although quiet) may be a concern to some people with quite young children also showering them in the small showers may be a problem.

I would highly recommend this site to couples (any age) who really want to get away from it all and just relax.

Small site in excellent location. Left motorhome on site while we explored for 4 days.

Toilet block not the best but adequate, 2 small shower cubicles no space for clothes etc. Water was hot though, and clean enough.

Small pitches, but fine with us as we have no extras. Could be cramped in the summer months.

Beautiful location in valley with fast flowing river and stunning scenery.

Pub right next door (Ok) More pubs restaurants in Lynton 10-15 walk away (Crown? was quite nice)

Wardens were very helful with local information.

Fantastic walks from site (Watersmeet, Vally of Rocks)You can walk into Lynmouth (long walk) or go via Lynton and maybe take the railway down.

Good quiet site would return but only out of season.

Sunny Lyn is in very close proximty to Lynton and Lynmouth, although there is a very steep hill down to them both. The campsite caters more towards campers than van people. There is a reasonably stocked shop and a cafe which does breakfasts.

Word of caution, due to extremely tight entrance [180 degree hairpin bend], if you have a large caravan or motorhome 7 metre plus, you will have to go down the hill and go into LYNTON and turn round in the carpark and climb back up the hill [1st gear] to make the entry into the site more accessible. If you are in a motorhome, top up your water at the taps outside reception as the taps further down have hardly any pressure, not enough to expand a flat roll up hose. Also there is no hose at the CDP for rinsing the cassette only a drinking water tap !

Site drawbacks:- The hardstanding areas are getting a bit tired and in need of some refurbishment and levelling [ramps required]. TV reception is via points on the EHU posts, extension leads required, available from the shop. The toilet facilities are a bit dated and are now in need of revamping, as stated previously the shower cubicles are very small and the ladies shower trays have a tendency to flood. There is a notice inside the shower cubicles requesting that users clean hair from the plugholes in the trays before leaving.Honest.

The Bridge Inn is just through the gate and does very good meals and welcomes children and dogs

We will return again sometime in the future hopefully to a refurbished site

Just returned from a weekend at Sunny Lyn. Pitched at the bottom near the Bridge Inn. Site was lovely and quiet apart from the stream that runs along the site. My 7 year old son and I loved this soothing noise and quite happily dropped off to it. The site has a small shop and a cafe for breakfast above. I have stayed here before many times and still love this site. The shower and WC facilities are OK, but I think if they were updated, I would give 10 out of 10 instead of my 6. 3 shower cubicles would be better that the 2 they have. I still love the site though as there are some great walks to Watersmeet and the Valley of Rocks.

Lovely site, right next to the river which I thought would keep us awake at night but didn't at all. The staff are so helpful even giving us a tv aerial to use. The showers where clean and hot just the power wasn't great. Also a shame that no plug points to use, I had frizzy hair due to no straighteners!

Amazingly the walk wasn't to hilly and it is such a beautiful are to explore.

Overall great site and have booked to return.

This is a truly attractive and wonderful little site that brought a smile to my face every time I stuck my head outside of my van and took a look around. There is a beauty to this site that comes from the babbling river flowing alongside, the steep tree covered hills that form the valley and the few attractive building dotted around the site.

The site is quite small, with only a few, almost level hard standing pitches with hook-up, there are five or six statics, a few cottages and chalets with the remainder of the site give over to camping pitches.

There does seem to be a lot crammed into such a small space, but if you visit the area you will understand why, as the hills are steep and plentiful and the terrain really dictates what goes on here. Apart from a festival I’ve probably not been to a site where tents and vans are so close together, but it was the height of the season and although normally I like a bit of space, it didn’t bother me here. Everyone was friendly, while at the same time respecting each others space.

Staff friendliness gets an A+ and for such a small site, facilities wise it ticks all the boxes for me. There is a well stocked shop, a café that does breakfast and old but perfectly adequate toilets and showers.

Fortunately, as they are always grotty affairs there is no bar/club, but there is a pub right next door, didn’t try it but it looked alright, as pub wise we chose the Crown in Lynmouth about a ten minute walk away, with great pub food, try the generous seafood medley, and good and freely flowing cider.

Lynton and Lynmouth are two picturesque little villages that are well worth a stroll around, although stroll may not be the right word due to the considerably steep hills that abound. Lynton has cashpoints, convenience store and a few shops and pubs with Lynton being a bit more touristy with gift shops and ice cream parlours. We were there primarily to walk the South West Coastal path to Coombe Martin, and so passed through the valley of the rocks which is worth a trek out to.

So if you don’t mind being close to your neighbour this site is well worth a visit as it is a beautiful site set in a beautiful part of the country.

Excellent small site which is very friendly and the site staff are very helpful. We have taken our two Labradors and there is a lovely wooded walk very close by for morning and evening toilets! And if you want a very picturesque walk to Watersmeet you can get there from the site. It is set by a river and it is in a very beautiful setting, with pub close by with great food and is dog friendly.

Only downside is the showers which could do with upgrading as they are old. Site very clean and we have been there twice this year and five times in total. Highly recommended.

This is such a lovely little site. Hubby and I took our tent and found it to be clean, friendly and just the right size for us as a couple. I'm not sure if you'd find it so if you had a large caravan or motorhome, or were going as a massive family group - as I say, it is a small, almost intimate, site.

The river is right next to the tent pitches, and is so lovely and relaxing. It also offers you some level of privacy, as its ripples blend away any neighbouring noise from other tents quite nicely.

There is a pub literally right next door to the site, and the walk into Lynton is a leisurely 10 minutes.

We arrived late (we'd driven there after work on the Friday), but found a cone with pitching instructions and it was all very easy and straightforward.

It rained whilst we were here, and we still had a lovely time. A return visit this year is already being planned.

Loved this place. Our pitch was right on the waters edge which and really made you feel like you were getting back to nature. The facilities were very good and the cafe does a very nice breakfast. It's a short walk to both Lynton and Lynmouth. We arrived late but there was a sign up welcoming us and explaining where our pitch was. There are lots of walks starting right next to the site. It's the perfect base for exploring North Devon or just relaxing in the beautiful surroundings

Small, very pretty little site next to gushing river.

Would be awkward to get into and manoeuvre a large caravan. Mine is average and we were fine.

Lynmouth and lynton are lovely with great dog friendly pubs.

Walks are varied, coastal or inland through the river gorge. Great dog walking area.

Because the site is in a valley it loses the sun early evening so if you want to sit out and catch a few rays in the evening then best to try the site at the top of the hill.

As a site it has all the basics you need but as a location for local walking, pubs, restaurants etc it is superb.
