Hi. Right new to this sort of thing. My partner and I booked 3 nights at this site. Plan was to go to cornwall, but liked the site so much we kept adding days till we were at 11 nights.
Toilets and showers were good, cleaning was around 12. 00. Tent area was separate from caravans and we were on pitch 25, right next to the stream. Caution would be needed with young kids as you could fall down into the stream and rocks.
The site has a policy of quiet after 10. 30 and before 7. 30am a very good idea.
Barbecues were allowed but only raised off the grass, the small shop has things for this outside. Shop well stocked and sells beer and wine. The pub next door has closed down.
Ideal for visiting lynton and lynmouth with ilfracome etc within driving distance. If a taxi is required £3.50 to lynmouth
There is a phone box on site as mobiles constantly lose the signal. Small friendly site that won't stand nonsense.

This site is ideally situated for exploring the Lynton and Lynmouth area. The site does have a sharp entrance you have to encounter on entering the site and I have wondered how caravan owners have accomplished this.
However, we have a tent so this didn't bother us. The area for tents is quite small, but then the whole site is relatively cosy.
There is a lovely sound of the river babbling past the site, but there is a high wall which isn't fenced off and there is quite a drop from here down to the river bank, so be aware of this if your have small children.
Also, do not expect to plug anything in anywhere on site as you will not find a socket! Everything is chased into the wall, so a car charger for your mobile phone is a must!
There are plenty of toilets here, even if they are a bit of a walk away. The showers are in the same area. There is also a cafe on site if you do not fancy cooking your own breakfast.
Lynton is walkable but Lynmouth is better accessed by way of the hydro tram railway from Lynton. The Blue Ball pub past Lynmouth is a great place to have a meal and I can recommend their Sunday roast!
The pub next to the camp site is within staggering distance, but we ate there the first evening we got there and the pot of mustard we asked for was still on the same table 2 days later. A friendly enough service, but no frills. Dec wanted to watch the football on the Saturday afternoon and the Landlord was quite happy to accommodate him by putting the tv on in the bar. Just depends what you want in a pub, but I wouldn't recommend a meal here unless you are desperate!

What a fantastic little campsite! We had a pitch right next to the little river that flows through the site, and the weather was very good all week.
The facilities are very good, although there are only two (rather dated) showers, they were clean and they were warm! And there wasn't any queuing even though the campsite was getting pretty full.
All the staff were very cheerful and helpful and the shop they run was very handy. On arrival we were given a little map which pointed out the best places for food, the local shop and a bank which was very helpful, as well as a guide about events on in the area.
There is lots to do in the immediate area which means you can leave the car behind (Watersmeet, Valley of the Rocks, Steam Railways, Lynton & Lynmouth and the Cliff Railway).
And by car I would recommend visiting Woolacombe (beaches), Ilfracombe (a good fishing spot in the town and out by the National Trust's land Golden Cove- you have to walk down a lot of steps to get down the cliffs but the little private beach is worth it!), Minehead (very good for the touristy side of a holiday with a real-ale pub serving good food called The Quay) and another good pub serving food outside of Lynmouth called The Beggar's Inn.
Another thing in Sunny Lyn's favour is their booking method- I was able to check availability and book over the internet, which is excellent for people who are usually working when the campsite offices are open!

What a fantastic site! Came here with my wife and had no complaints at all. Excellent value for money.
The site itself is in a great location - going to sleep with the sounds of the river was very relaxing. Whilst it was a serious walk to get into town, it was easy enough to drive and leave the car there. I could imagine it gets fairly hectic in high summer as it isn't a massive site, but even with a lot of people camping there weren't any problems for us.
The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful, including saving us from going without dinner when they re-opened the shop so we could get some meths.
Shower and toilet facilities were fine, and the showers themselves were a lot nicer than they looked.
Only had breakfast on our last day, but it was worth it to finish off.
Would definitely recommend it and will certainly be going back there when we re-visit Exmoor in the future.

The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, they even received a couple of parcels for me to do some running repairs to my camper van. The site and location are beautiful, the stream provided hours of fishing and I caught my first ever brown trout- it was a shame they were too small. The breakfasts from the on site cafe were really nice and good value. Lynton is a 10 min walk away over a nice path just opposite the pub. The pub next door (under new management) is also good and the owners are very friendly - it just needs some work doing to it (so go in and buy a pint) so you can help build a business rather than see another pub shut down.
My brother rented one of the log cabins which was very nice indeed, clean and looked brand new even through its over a year old.
I never knew there were so many hills there are good walks and cycle rides right on your door step !
Just keep an eye on your children as you are right next to the fast flowing river - just be sensible.
Overall it is a very good campsite - what a hidden gem.

What a nice place, the owner was very helpful, lent us a lead so we could use the tv. Toilets and showers were clean and in a warm block.
Even though every thing there was shut due to it being early March, we enjoyed ourselves. Local pub was friendly. The fast flowing stream was noisy but after a while did not notice the noise.
Hope to return with our family

Small site on the edge of a river with a little cataract. Extremely helpful owner.
Site has very clean showers/toilets and even supplies washing up liquid in a washing area.
Small shop on site with pub next door. Site does breakfasts although(for me) they start too late in the morning.
Stayed here whilst trekking the South West Coastal Path. The site is up a steep road from Lynmouth and, if you are trekking with a tent etc, I would recommend approaching the site from Lyton (if necessary going up the Cliff Railway from Lynmouth) rather than up the road from Lynmouth.

We arrived on a Saturday evening at 5.30 to a friendly and helpful welcome. We were shown straight to our pitch and given information and location regarding showers, washing up, on site shop and cafe (for breakfast if required).
The site is in a very picturesque setting, the river is just yards away from the pitches and is quite noisy but you soon get used to it. The showers and toilet block are clean and uncrowded, very clean washing-up facilities.
The pub next to the campsite was virtually empty at 7.00pm on a Saturday evening, says it all really. We can recommend the award winning Fish & Chip shop on the Esplanade in Lynmouth, you can sit in and eat if you wish to but if you drive straight back to the campsite your food will still be hot!
This is a beautiful area of North Devon and we would definitely stay on this campsite again.

Small flat field by river, nice walk into Lynton via narrow lanes and fantastic walks over bridge through NT land to Watersmeet. Two showers with free hot water per bathroom and two washing up sinks, plus laundry room. 20p per ice pack to freeze but in shop so limited access, shop seemed well stocked particularly with camping items. Very friendly wardens.
Local pub Bridge Inn was rarely open but may change during busier periods.
My only negative is that they do pack them in during busy periods and I returned from a day out to find a tent pitched less than 4 feet from mine so you couldn’t walk between because of the guys so I would only return during less busy periods.

What's to say about this site that hasn't been said already? It is a little tight if you have a van or large(ish) camper but very do-able. Safety Warning! Road to and from Lynmouth is 1 in 4! Come in from A399/A39 instead, use a map, not Sat Nav! We have a van but used to camp, this is nowhere near the busiest site I've camped on. In bank holidays it is well booked but it is comfortable.
Site now has Wi-Fi - £1 an hour, couple of quid a day. Digital TV has also hit this area - well, I think it's from Wales but is is perfect quality from their leads. Mobile phone signal is poor from most of the providers - ace
On-site very clean cafe makes awesome cooked breakfasts! Staff are really nice, one guy has HGV1 and is first class at helping you get your van where you didn't think it could go!
Lynton is a 15 mins walk away and is a really friendly place, the Crown for example has lovely food, staff and Rattlers (basically St. Austell wares), but Sinai hill is a steep one to walk!
The Lynton cinema is delightful, 68 seats, book first, really quiet and has the latest releases - absolutely brilliant. Checkout the really awesome walks, valley of the rocks, watersmeet etc.
This place is beautiful, we've been going back for 3 years now and without doubt always will.
Yes, some people make noise and some don't - that's life, we always go in Whitsun when it's busy. Your spare bread is always welcome with the ducks. The flowing river noise keeps us fast asleep in the mornings, this site is a gem in a beautiful part of the country-we love the place.
