This was our second visit to this site; we had two weeks here a couple of years ago. Last time we had solid rain for the whole two weeks and this time was not much better, so the excellent indoor facilities such as swimming, the club house, bar and restaurant do come in very handy with children in tow!

The lower shower block is in the process of being modernised (ladies side is finished) and they have made an excellent job of it.

We stayed in the lower camping field, as we did last time, to mix with fellow 'tent campers'. The only drawback to this was that kids tend to use the central green area for football which means the inevitable 'ball hitting the tent and/or car' problem, which drives us mad. There is also a sand pit, so if you have young children and you do not like sand in everything, this may not be for you. Our kids are older and were told that if they used the sandpit they would be quarantined until every grain had been washed away.

The swimming pool is a big draw for the children and, last time, Geoff the owner did make a special effort to control unruly behaviour. I have to say that the pool was not so well policed this time and if you have young children then you need to be very vigilant so that the teenagers showing off to their mates and/or girlfriends do not squash or drown them. The same goes for the club house insofar as the pool tables tend to get hogged by regulars who line up 50p coins like dominoes so they can stay on all evening; again, this was not so well policed by the owner this time around.

The restaurant and bar food is excellent and very plentiful; you will certainly not be complaining of small portions I can assure you! Also, I would say the quality and diversity of stock in the reasonably-priced shop has improved over the last two years. We can thoroughly recommend the locally produced meats that are available and we noticed that a lot of people were taking advantage of the take-home packs of Yeatheridge-produced meat that can be ordered ready for you to take home on your last day.

This is certainly a very popular family-oriented site with excellent facilities. If only we could guarantee the weather in this part of the country it would be a very regular spot for us, but I have to say that in the 21 days total we have stayed on this site on two separate visits two years apart, there were only two days sunny enough to sit out and enjoy the sun properly. And it still rained a bit on those two days!

Nice site, lot's of space, pitches are good and staff very friendly. We didn't use the club house as we have a young family, but it seemed to be quite busy.

There's a pub just before you get to the site (forget the name but you can't miss it), very good value and a nice pint of bitter!

Pools are not that warm, but fine for us. Loved the small pool for the little one, a bit dated but very clean.

Fishing on site is great fun.

Only complaint is it's an hour from anywhere. So we went to 'Big Sheep', great place, little ones loved it (Use Tesco vouchers to get the price down). Really a great day out.

Problem is the coast is an hours drive. If you don't care about that, then it's a great place!

Oh, new toilet block is very nice!

We have now been to this site several times in both a tent and later in a caravan. The site is well laid out and the facilities are some of the best we have seen. The new ladies block is fantastic and kept very clean.

The shower cubicles are large and the showers excellent, all the washbasins are in private cubicles and there are plenty of them, I never had to queue while staying there even when busy in the bank holiday week. The shop is excellent and the prices very good. The Bull Pen served wonderful food and in large portions.

There are 2 fishing lakes, the top one is suitable for children to fish on and is very popular, the bottom one which is a bit of a walk away is more for adults and is much more peaceful. The site is very popular with families and children so if you prefer a quieter time, it is best to choose week days and avoid school holidays.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely continue going to stay there.

All of the staff are so friendly. I would recommend going for a long weekend then you can enjoy some of the quiet before the weekender's ,many leave there caravans in storage and most are only there for the weekend

The toilet blocks have been redone, they will be fab when finished, Geoff informed us the solar panels will be working in a week or two.

Hubby enjoyed the fishing they were lining up to get on his hook (how to keep a man happy sit him by the lake and let him fish).

Visited the quince honey farm in south molton quite interesting if a little expensive for entry. One tip I will pass on get your shopping in tiverton, you pass morrisons on the way to the site, otherwise its a 24 mile round trip although the shop is very well stocked

We had been waiting ages for the weather to improve in order to go away in our new VW campervan and we weren't disappointed when we chose Yeatheridge as one of our first campsites.

We were looking for a site that was very child friendly, with excellent facilities but not too big or commercialised. Yeatheridge offered us everything we wanted lovely indoor swimming pool, sweet little play areas which our 2 1/2 year old loved and meant we could relax watching him play just in front of us and making friends.

The restaurant menu offered excellent value food (although we didn't eat there, as only stayed one night, but food looked really good for the price)

The shop was really well stocked and reasonably priced for a campsite - we forgot swimming bands and swim nappies for our son and bought them from there.

The shower/wash facilities were some of the best we have ever seen. On a rather chilly evening it was a pleasure doing the washing up in the heated wash up area.

The toilets and showers were very clean and modern. But best of all was the really sweet and well thought out family bathrooms (yes there were more than one for a change!) where they had an adults shower and lowered shower beside for your children - what an excellent idea!

Yes it is slightly remote but that was the beauty for us. We will definitely be visiting again (and trying out the restaurant!)

I stayed here for just 2 nights as I was attending a fly fishing course just up the road at the Fox & Hounds Hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the site itself was spacious and well laid-out with hedges for windbreaks. The ground was reasonably soft but it had been raining for some days and the owners had laid sand to help soak up the excess water. I span my wheels driving away when leaving as it was quite muddy in places.

The toilet blocks were very clean and, given the time of year, well-heated. The on-site shop is very well stocked and the clubhouse has reasonably-priced food and drinks.

The site is in quite a remote spot but this means that it is very peaceful. The Thelbridge Cross Inn is a 5-minute drive east and is a beautiful, traditional country pub, serving good food but has a limited wine selection. West is the Fox & Hounds Hotel at Eggesford that serves an excellent Sunday carvery lunch.

Overall, it's a pleasant, well-run site with good facilities and reasonably priced. I'd have no hesitation in going back there.

The first time we have visited Yeatheridge and the first time we went 'inland' rather than a coastal camp site. For this reason it is very much in the wilds and has it's advantages just for that reason for some people but we found it a little to far away from.Well anywhere!

The toilet and shower facilities need a re-vamp and unfortunately (As we did report direct to the owner)one of the main shower cubicles was left with faeces in the drain (And not left by an animal) Yuk! However another day later and the same remained in the shower, so cleanliness is lost for me.

We used the horse riding facilities for our Sons and this was a great experience for them which they enjoyed even if it rained almost all day. The play ground was not really noticed a great deal apart from a mechanical kids digger in a sand pit and a see saw. The club house was well laid out although there was no atmosphere and everybody seemed to be entertained looking at the club house Sky TV set

No entertainment when we went, but would of been better with it at night, as the wilderness around us gave no inspiration to go too far away in the small country lanes, so entertainment would of been a big plus, even some background music? The games room consisted of a hall like place with a football table (50p a go for 8 balls) bit of a cheap trick for kids really, plus table tennis free if you BOUGHT the £2 bat n balls from the site OK fair enough!

£1 a go also for the pool table again fair enough, but that's it!.Apart from the swimming pool that was very good but a little tatty here and there, They also have 'Chutes' that are open twice a day for 30 minutes?.Why? I couldn't help thinking that what is the point of even having chutes at all when they are open for 1 hour a day? (try explaining that too little kids).

The local shop on site was excellent value for money and not far off being very competitive considering it's on the site.

The surrounding area is a little few and between, we went to Barnstaple for one day out which was great but mostly we went and discovered the small villages nearby such as lapford, Morchard Bishop, Black Dog (Barking up the wrong tree we found).

This is about our fifth visit to this site. We have never been disappointed by this site.

This year we have visited twice, we travel with a mix range of children from 15yrs down to 8 yrs, they all find plenty to do here. We have found over the years that generally the children all mix very well, seems to be a daily meet for those who want to play football. An indoor swimming pool, horse riding on the site plus a large bar/restaurant (food is reasonably priced and large meals).

We have found the pitches to be fairly spacious. Even at the busiest times this site doesnt appear to be over crowded.

Theres a on site shop, which is very reasonably priced, also if you require anything from the shop when its shut, they are more than happy to get what you want.

This site is completely out of the way, which adds to the appeal.

Certainly will be going back

Although a very remote campsite, it only took us an hour to get there from Clevedon which means we will definitely visit it again but only for a weekend and not 5 day break which is what we had in the first week of August. The on site facilities are really good (swimming, horse-riding & fishing) but there aren't any places worth a visit around unless you consider an hour drive.

The campsite is relaxed, really friendly, with regulars returning year after year. We got chatting to loads of people and our children made lots of friends.

It is good news that the main toilet block is going to be updated however I used the facilities by the main reception which I found very quiet and modern. There was a small toilet and sink for younger children and a shower cubicle which had 2 showers in it.

The shop is extensively stocked and the restaurant is fab. Fantastic food and at a very good price. Well worth treating yourself to a meal. Bar prices excellent too. I think pint of beer was about £2.50. We spent a lot of time on the site and we didn't feel we were being ripped off at all.

The first thing I would say about the site is that it is pretty remote from anywhere of significance; the fact that you go through a place called Nomansland probably sums it up. Bearing this in mind the extensive facilities on site are welcomed and the fact that nothing is overpriced.

On arrival I have to say I was a little disappointed with our pitch. I had booked seven months in advance and stated the size of our tent but the pitch between a very big frame tent and a folding caravan was relatively tight, especially as the track came in front of the pitch. We were near the lower toilet/shower/washing up block. This had plenty of facilities and was clean but is looking dated. The owner advised that this block is to be totally renovated over the winter with extended dishwashing facilities and family wet rooms included in the plan. The facilities in the main building were much more modern.

What makes the site is the range of activities it has. The pool area suits all ages with a paddling pool, small pool and larger pool plus the water slide, which whilst we were there opened for much longer periods than actually advertised. Then there is the horse riding. The smaller ride goes around the site taking about 10/15 mins and is great for smaller children such as my two year old. The longer ride goes down beyond the lower lake taking 45 to 50 minutes. At £2.50 and £8.50 these are excellent value. Mentioning the lower lake there are also two fishing lakes which seemed popular. The bar/restaurant is also very good, it is like a country pub rather than the places associated with some larger sites (it is certainly not rowdy and does not feature tacky entertainment). Whilst the restaurant offers the convenience of being on site I would happily dine there anyway. Food and drink is very reasonably priced with a good menu including a range of specials, many of which are very large portions! The on site shop covers all the essentials and whilst it may be more expensive than Tesco the prices are not extortionate. By mentioning all the facilities it may sound like a holiday camp but it certainly isn't. If you want peace and quiet it is there; unless you're pitched right next to the swimming pool building, as I noticed someone was, the pool, bar etc can be avoided.

There were some pretty wet days whilst we were there and the pitches were starting to suffer. The owners were trying to maintain pitches as they became free by adding sand etc but the weather was taking its toll. In all things were probably holding up quite well considering the rainfall and the site was draining pretty well. Unfortunately the country walks around site were just too boggy to undertake with children.

In terms of things that could be improved; the lower toilet block is in hand. I also felt the children's play areas would benefit from improvement. There is what looks like a frame for a swing in Woodland Meadow but no swing as such and the wooden fort style play area looked quite old and very boggy.

When venturing off site it is a journey to any of the tourist attractions but we knew this when we booked - if you want a site by the beach then you book one, not one in the country. We went as far as Woolacombe on the North coast and Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary on the south so, although the site is remote and you have pretty long drives to get to places, it does offer both North and South Devon attractions. The site also gives vouchers to get a small amount (50p per person) off entrance to Crealy Adventure Park near Exmouth. Crealy is slightly expensive but they offer the facility of a free return within 7 days if you get a wristband, so we returned again one afternoon at no extra charge.

If I could place the site a little nearer the main tourist attractions and get some better weather it would be an ideal holiday, but both these issues are of course beyond the site's control. Whilst the owners cannot change geography and the English climate, what they can control they do well. All in all this is an excellent value site.
