Just had the most enjoyable week on this site, very friendly staff. When we were there the site was quiet by 11pm despite the road noise which we got used to. The facilities at the site were good for us and the sister site was a quick dash down the road provided us with many hours in the pools and sauna. The kids (2) age 4 and 6 enjoyed the freedom of the site crashing out whenever they felt like it will definetly be going back

We stayed here overnight on a last minute whim to get away for the weekend. The site was very quiet and the bar wasn't open (in fact, we were led to believe it is to close altogether and guests are to be directed to the sister site at Oakdene). There was a lot of road noise, sounds like a mini racetrack very nearby as well as the main road itself but it wasnt too much of a bother to us as we were only passing through. There is a pub serving a huge variety of food a ten minute walk away - go out of the site towards Oakdene, walk over the bridge over the dual carriageway and you're there. Also, there seem to be many forest walks to be had directly from the site. The facilities seemed rather tired and dated and none too clean, though again we were led to believe this was to be addressed in the near future. Not a bad stay overall, but I doubt we will return here.

It was my first time camping and I found I enjoyed the camping lifestyle on this site except for a few small problems. The road noise was horrendous and we both woke several times each night due to it, it's like a track for boy racers at night. The other flaws we found were the showers - they were clean but the pressure wasn't very good and you couldn't adjust the tempreature, lukewarm or tepid was the only setting. Also the washing up area was disgusting - understandbly not the parks fault but it was so unclean. We got our hot water from there and washed our crockery etc on our pitch. Another complaint was the noise from the children - again not the parks fault. We had a pitch near the football/basketball area and until the majority of children left were kept awake until late by noisy children and stray footballs. We complained to the warden who agreed to let us move pitch. Campsite noise was fine from then on. Oh and the rabbits - lots of wildlife lurking about who are determined to get into your tent so zip it up well. Aside from the flaaws however I enjoyed my first time camping - which was made even more enjoyable by the staff who were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed for two nights in middle of October.
Shop, bar, pool were all closed whilst we were there so can't comment.
Despite only us and six other tents and one caravan occupied (quite a few seasonal pitches)we were all put together.
The A31 is indeed 'less than quiet' especially as it seemed to be the local drag strip at 3am !
Spent a whole dat at Moors Valley Country Park - have been before and recommend it to all who have children of any age !
Would not choose it again (would probably go for Oakdene for quieter pitches).

This is a fairly small campsite and feels rather cramped in places. We were directed to a temporary camping area up at the back near the static caravans. There were some for sale and other pitches had been prepared for more statics but did not have caravans on them.
The welcome we were given and dealings with the shop staff/campsite staff (one and the same) were excellent; very friendly service.
There are 2 pools, a small splash pool for toddlers (about 0.3m deep) and a larger pool, again really only suitable for kids at 1m deep and perhaps 5m x 12m in size. On our visit (August Bank holiday, probably the camp's busiest weekend of the year) the pool was warm but rather soupy. But still, a welcome refreshing dip at the end of a day of travelling.
We were about as far from the A31 as you could be when camping but could still clearly hear the road day and night. As others have said however, you get used to it and it did not stop us sleeping. Just pass an ironic comment to your fellow campers every now and then about how beautifully peaceful it is.
The campsite has a sister site Oakdene about a mile away through a forest. It is a pleasant walk but remember a torch for the return journey. You need to follow the map which is printed in the guide you get when you check in. It's well worth the walk to get to this much bigger site - larger and cleaner outdoor pools, indoor pool with slide, cafe, kid's entertainment at night, kid's playground, bistro, slot machine games area. All these are free to access with a card you are given.
Back to Forest Edge; Toilets and showers were OK. Rather tired looking though. There is a play area next to the bar with seating for tired adults to watch. There is also a fenced ball play area with football goals. Our kids are 7 and 4 and were very happy at the site.
The site is dominated by a high voltage power line going across it (probably 132kV by the look of it). A couple of the static caravans sit right next to a pylon. That together with the road noise from the A31 definitely kills off some of the "getting away from it all" feeling.
We visited Paulton's Park whilst based here, only 20 minutes or so in the car.
We would visit this campsite again if we needed to stay in the area. But we wouldn't go for the peace and quiet or scenery.

Spent two nights at Forest Edge. It is next to the A31 (which is basically a continuation of the M27) so will be noisy, but the kids (10 & 3) slept right through the night. We were woken a couple of times by maniacs driving too fast down the A31. Overall the site was clean, toilets & showers were always clean whilst we were there, staff (including the warden) were all friendly & helpful. Pools were clean with a lifeguard on duty but we didn't get to use the pools due to the weather. Shop - had all the essentials that we needed. Pitch - we were told when booking we had a small pitch but you could easily have got a caravan plus awning & car on without a problem. Bar - friendly & quick service. We would go again.

Just returned from an excellent holiday with Shorefield. We went to Forest Edge because Merley Court fully booked by end of January. The site is well staffed and has good facilities clean toilets etc. Bare in mind Boundary Lane is an unregistered race track and may effect you more than the A31 (site going static over 3yrs.). The mature tree's may mean no sunlight on your pitch(midge bites). Summer flash floods washed out a tent near our pitch. We had space on our pitch but when you book request a bigger pitch if you need it. The park is well placed for well known superstores, pubs and attractions. Do not miss Liberty's Raptor & Reptile Centre on Crow Lane near Ringwood allow a full day & £20 for family ticket.

Excellent all round will be returning next year. The touring warden Steve was very helpful nothing was too much bother, always smiling and happy to answer any queries. Toilets very well maintained and clean showers always hot with no waiting. I have been to many campsites and always found myself in a queue, not this one. I have 3 boys ages from 5 to 13 they loved every minute of it, the camp is just so relaxed and friendly. We found the pitches had enough room for all of us to sit out the front and we have a big trailer tent so soaking up the sun was not a problem. The play areas and swimming pool are plenty big enough as it is a small camp. Keep up the good work, will recommend to anyone!

We booked into this site as a bit of a last minute thing, halfterm and the bank holiday dont go well. We were shown to our pitch which because of the size of our Cabanon 5m x 4.5m was one of the bigger, it was directly under a very large pine with absolutely no grass on any of the pitch. Well we did not have much choice as we were told it was the last pitch available on the whole site. Well we setup and the site just filled and filled to the brink, luckily even though with no grass on our pitch I felt better than the other poor people that were being crammed in like sardines, I'm not joking that guy ropes were actually crossing into neighbouring pitches.
Very dated showers and toilets that were not cleaned regularly only good thing about it was the high water pressure, washing area very dirty and again dated. Did not use the on site bar, sand pit was basically the football area for the kids. We certainly wont be going back, very over priced for hardly anything. Oh, the electrical hookup kept tripping also and the warden insisted on checking my cable, and said that my cool box and light was probably pulling to much power, when I pointed out that my hookup has a built in RCD and MCB trip and that it would trip that before the site one he just walked off.

Having returned to this site after 12 months I am sad to say it has gone down hill. Our pitch was very small and we could not park, cook or sit on it. (Our tent is not big, a monty 6) and took up all the of the pitch. It was also covered in litter. We were right next to the A31 and the noise was so loud we had to raise our voices (I wore ear plugs at night) but we could still feel the vibrations of the traffic through the air beds. Athough it is not possible to change this I feel we should have been informed when we booked. Our electricily tripped on our last evening and the warden was very rude and first demanded to know if we had paid for a seviced piitch then accused us of having a non camping EHU (I didn't know there was any other type), I told him we got it from a well known camping shop and have had no trouble anywhere else, but he insisted it was not meant for camping ????. Also when he 'pretended' to unlock the service box it fell apart! it was only the faulty lock holding it together. The toilets were dirty and some where blocked up. There was 6 wash up sinks but only 2 plugs that didn't fit. And the hot water was just a dribble at peak times. When I was served in the bar the barman was having a telephone conversation and just kept on talking to his mate and served me using sign language! On the up side the lady in the shop was very friendly and helpful, and the facilities down the road at Oakdene were nice with a good kids club. It is very clear to see that shorefields put all their money into the static side of things and us campers come way down their list of priorities.
