This site is great for families. The pitches are a good size and well laid out. The on site shop stocks the basics and there is a Sainsbury just down the road. The play park and pool are well looked after and within site of the pub, which also does basket meals. Included in your fee is the use of the adjoining park Oakdene with lovely facilities and evening entertainment. The forest is great for a quite stroll or you can hire a bike. The showers are old but hot and clean and we never had to queue. The staff were very friendly. The only down side to this site is you can here the traffic on the very busy road outside. This site is very well situated for lots of attractions within the area and not far from Bournemouth beach. We have been here many times and will go many more times in the future.

On arrival the staff were very helpful and pleasant indeed, even escorted to the pitch and explained the pitch sizes and where they start etc. The pitch sizes are very small and our trailer tent with sun canopy ended up level with the excess roads to the pitches. There was no flexibility to the pitching due to limited size of pitch, we had a dip at the front edge of our pitch but were unable to move the Trailer tent left or right to avoid this (You Guessed it, it rained and we were flooded). The quality of the ground was very patchy with most of the grass worn away, the the exposed ground left was a mixture of peat, sand & soil. Touch it and your going to look like a miner, this is hard to get out of the clothes as the children got very dirty every day. Situated beside the A31 and right against a round a bout was rewarded constant traffic noise (take your earplugs). The bar was closed most of the week which was surprising as we are in peak Season and paid a premium, but all the facilities were in good order and well cleaned daily, Only issue would be that if you put soap dispensers in the wash area put soap in them, these were empty all week and it is just annoying hearing people grumble about them on a daily basis. Additionally, the washing machines were useless and very expensive, we could not work out whether it was the soil difficult to remove or the washing machines performance. When we got home our washing machine removed the dirt quickly first time. (Must be the overused washing machines). I have only listed the grumbles that we experienced to let others know and these really do not effect your holiday if you have a positive mindset, we had a great Holiday, visited some great places but would not return to this site regrettably. Who designed that A31, going to Monkey World was great only 27 miles but 18 round a bouts and always hit traffic jams.

Have just returned from this site. Exceptionally well managed, staff superb and on site warden a treat to deal with. A31 is noisy but you do learn to switch off. Plots a little small only 6 m x 6m (no gazebos allowed) however facilities are excellent. It is only a small site but onsite pub was great with nice area to sit in outside as well. Small pool did look a little on the mucky side but was cleaned daily and had a lifeguard. There is also a toddlers pool. Showers and loos very adequate and I only waited 5 mins max for a shower at peak time. Site was very quiet at night. Local Sainsburys & Lidl & McDonalds only a few minutes away in car. Good pubs within easy walking distance. Dont be tempted to walk to nearby Oakdene through the forest unless you take a guide with you as the path is not signposted and it took us 40 minutes - we walked back along the road in 15 mins. Oakdene worth a visit for Sauna, spa and steam room.(over 16s only). Would definitely go back to this site again. Excellent base for visiting New Forest and South Coast.

Upon arrival the appearance is of a well maintained bright and clean site. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful upon arrival, the reception being based in the modern well stocked Spar shop. The pitches were incredibly small and which meant difficulty in getting everything on your pitch if you have a large frame tent, car and wish to eat out side. The pitches really were on top of each other. The noise from the A31 was horrendous although you do seem to get used to it after a while, I imagine if you were towards the rear of the site (which incidentally is where a large section of the touring pitches are being concreted over to take static homes at £25K a pop), it would be a little quieter. The showers were OK but really do need a revamp as they are very old and cramped. There were only 8 male showers across 2 blocks for the whole site which made for a bit of a queue at peak times. The washbasins in one of the blocks were designed for oompaloompas and with a soap dispenser right in the middle making it almost impossible to have a decent wash. None of the soap dispensers contained any soap for the duration of the stay. The bar was quaint and the young man serving behind the bar gave an excellent service. If your children are very small this site may be OK as there is a nice play area and sports court and a very small outdoor pool, however if you have teenagers there is not much for them to do. Even the 30 min walk (not 15!) to Oakdene is not suitable for younger teenagers at night. All in all not a bad site but it really is spoiled by the traffic noise and pitch sizes in my opinion.

Never again! Just spent a week at Forest Edge in a tent. The pitches were very small with barely enough room for tent and car, so you are very close to your neighbours - only ok if they are the quiet type. We found the toilet and shower facilities dirty - yes it was high season but they need to be cleaned more than once a day. Also there were only 8 showers each in the ladies and gents, so you had to queue at peak times. The shop was very good, the kids enjoyed the pool and play area, we enjoyed the bar! The noise from the very busy A31 only a few metres from the edge of the site was awful - day and night. Could be a good site if kept cleaner, but we won't be returning.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Forest Edge and on the whole had a great week. The pitch we were given was large and well positioned (41).We used electric hook up with no problems. The pool was of a lovely temp the shop well stocked up and the shower and toilets clean and even though the site was busy never had to wait for a shower. The playground for the kids is very good and well maintained. On the minus side as already reported the noise from the A31 was loud but after a couple of nights did get used with it.We shall be returning in the near future and would recommend the site especially to families with small children.

Very clean and tidy site. Bar which serves food very good. The children loved the park and we could let them go to it on their own as we could see them. Nice outdoor pools. Small and friendly. BUT the A31 noise was horrendous. when booking ask to be as far away from the road as possible not easy but possible.

We visited Forest Edge over the weekend of half term. We found the pitch sizes very small and the views were simply of other tents! The site itself is quite nice and the small outdoor heated pool was great for the kids. The staff were friendly and the park had a nice feel to it despite the pitch sizes. The sister site, Oakdene is supposed to be only a fifteen minute walk away but this wasn't the case. It took us that time by bike but the ride through the forest was nice. The facilities at the larger site are better for older kids.

We booked this sire at the last minute and were really looking forward to a nice peaceful weekend away with the children. When we arrived we were greeted by lovely friendly staff and the site looked fab! When we arrived at our pitch we were disappointed that there was a large tree included on the pitch which lost us around 2 metres. We have a large tent and found it rather difficult to get the tent pitched within the lines even though it was a 6 x 6 metre pitch. The facilities were fantastic and the children really enjoyed the outdoor pools and the play area. The facilities were all very clean and just what you would expect from a 4 star site but the huge downside was the horrendous noise at night from the extremely busy A31. It was pretty much none stop and when in a tent you don't have much noise protection. Excellent site with excellent facilities but we would not return because of the road noise, which is a real same!

Central reservation process, and curt manner of telephone staff gave a bad impression, we approached the site with the preconception that this was going to be "Butlins under canvas" however the staff on site could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Facilities were clean and quite adequate. Bar was closed as was pool neither a problem to us. The site looks well maintained with plenty of trees. The site enjoys a good well stocked shop. The pitches are tiny, we didn't have enough space to fully guy the tent, the risk of passing cars bending tent pegs or worse still catching the tent was a concern. The site was only about 10% full, so the cramped pitches were not a major issue om our stay. Traffic noise from adjoining busy A31 very intrusive.
