A fairly small site that as far as I can see is split into three sections the first is a CL site for Caravan club members, secondly there are the camping pods and thirdly the main body of the caravan site, given over to what looks like people who leave their van here for longer periods, resulting in most of the park being very quiet.
There is a shop on site selling limited provisions and an attached café, for hot food and snacks, both close at 4pm. On a Friday the side of the café becomes a takeout selling fish and chips they are well worth a try.
The site is long and thin resulting in an avenue of vans; we were down the bottom of the site and had to walk the full length of the site for showers and to empty the waste, not ideal. The showers or wet rooms were very large and free to use with a controllable electric shower, these and the toilets were very clean and well kept.
The site boasts an electric link up it was not fully serviced with standpipes offering water and grey waste drain below this. You cannot link your van to the water supply. The water pressure was also quite low for a site this size and our drain was blocked.
This is not a quiet site during the day with constant traffic noise in the background, only broken by little boy racers, bikers and ambulances.
Around about there are numerous things to do and see with plenty of large name shops and outlet stores. Eating can be done in the on site café or at the shopping outlets, there is no local pub. Use the park and ride for York it’s great.
Will I go back? Because of the lack of serviced sites, only one toilet/shower block for approx. 30 vans, sorry No.

We tried to book the CL site but it was full and were offered a pitch on the main site. We stayed for three nights during the second week of Easter.
We found the warden helpful and courteous. The site is clean, well maintained and has a country feel to it. The pitches are well spaced and we managed to park near the shower block. The showers and toilets are new, heated, clean and efficient. Lovely dog walk at the end of the site with a small pond and it leads onto public paths. There is a farm shop/cafe and we had lunch there twice. Reasonable price and good quality.
We had a look at the CL site and would have been quite happy there although it is closer to the road noise.
One of the better sites we have stayed on and will return.

We stayed here for our first trip in our camper as it was close to home.
Friendly welcome from the warden, told us about the farm shop and bus service into York. Stayed on the main site, facilities were clean and modern. Only negative would be no sanitary bags in these facilities to encourage users not to flush down toilets and causing them to block.
Nice walk along river into Wiggington from back of site. An excellent bus service into York from the end of the road. Little road noise during the night, but overall a good first trip out.

We spent 7 nights here and enjoyed every moment, there are 2 small ponds at the back of the site by the tent pitches, and it is free to fish them, there is a bus stop just outside the site where you can get a bus to York at £3.20 return which is cheaper than the car parks in York, toilet block is quite a walk from the tent pitches, but we took a portable loo so that wasn't a problem, the toilet and shower block were spotless and the best I have seen on a campsite, there is a shop/cafe on site the shop was reasonable but the cafe is a bit on the expensive side, If you have a car there is every shop you can think of in the area.
The site looks mainly geared up for touring caravans some of which are seasonal but everybody seemed to be very friendly especially Eric and Maxine who have a seasonal caravan and always stopped for a chat, the owners of the site were also very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed it so much that we intend to go back and spend another week there in august.
Thanks for a very enjoyable Week
Pete and Anne

This is the second time we have been to this site located just on the edge of York (10 min drive, bus stop just outside front gate). The first thing to note is this is an adults only site so if you have kids read no further, on the flip side if you want a very peaceful site then read on.
The site is very easy to find, just off the ring road around York and very easy access for caravans. The driveway up to the site is suffering a bit and could do with some TLC as its a bit pot holey.
Booking in at reception was straight forward although it is worth noting that they currently don't accept card payment although it was hinted that this was on the books to be done soon. Once paid you go through the electric barrier and pick your own pitch, all the van pitches are hard standing and have power and water points shared between 4 pitches.
The facilities block is just as you enter the site along with grey and black water disposal point. The toilet block is brand new this year and is a huge improvement on the previous ones which still are in use but are so far away they really only service the CL pitches and the entrance to the site. The design of the block is good in the fact they have built it with 4 full shower rooms each with toilet and sink and an additional couple of toilets on the end. They were cleaned regularly and had a plentiful supply of hot water and free to use electric shower.
The site is a long narrow site with the road going round the outside edge and all the pitches inside the road. There is loads of space between pitches even with awnings up, its not full of bushes and trees to pretty it up it is very practically laid out this give the site a good sense of space and with no risk of stray footballs hitting your prize caravan it all works really well.
The local area has two large retail parks only a five minute drive away with each having a large supermarket on them. The site has a farm shop and cafe on it, the produce is local, not cheap but comparable to any good farm shop.
Points that are not so positive, We were pitched about a third of the way up and every so you would get a whiff of the septic tank, you would also get it sometimes walking to the toilet block.
Would we visit this site again? Yes without hesitation

Camping in October! You must be mad was the most common response! Undeterred we booked 4 nights at Willow House Caravan Park.
On arrival we found out that we were indeed the only campers at the site, which was fine as we had the pick of the pitches.
The tent area turned out to be approximately 250 meters from the shower block, to be honest had I realised this before booking the site it would have put me off. In addition the tent area had no lighting which basically meant that by 7pm the tent was plunged into complete darkness and the thought of the walk to the toilet block was enough to make a grown man cry!
The toilet block was spotless up to the 3rd day when the wet grass was cut and not picked up. As a result the tent and the showers were covered in wet grass making the whole place look and feel dirty.
There was no light over the dish washing facilities which again caused difficulties when trying to wash up after 7pm (not an unreasonable thing to be doing when you are on holiday!)
It did feel like campers are the lowest priority at Willow House, there is a new 'Glamping Site' being heavily promoted and the positioning of the shower block is primarily to meet the needs of the Camping Pods.
We ended up having to run our car with the headlights on to get some light to cook at night, the caravan pitches and the Glamping Pods all had sufficient light, it was a bit annoying to be plunged into darkness.
Overall if you are in a Caravan or using the Camping Pods this site is probably ok, however for campers the site failed to meet the basic needs of most campers.
On the plus side, the camp is well positioned with easy access to York and the surrounding area.

Just to say a very quiet and relaxing place just for adult ideal large pitches. Good location for York lots of near by activities. Facilities are a nice clean shower block water and electric hook ups. Lovely grass areas to chill on a summer evening. Staff very friendly, they said we could leave when we wanted as no one was coming to our pitch a lovely lady. We will be back.
Ideal for York and surrounding area, Castle Howard And The Lavender Farm fab scones and really cheap. Try the lavender ice cream so yummy

This is an adults only site with 5 CL pitches at the front nearest the road and the commercial site further back after the farm shop. There are 10 touring pitches the rest are seasonal. We stayed in the commercial side and were very pleased. I have a disability and asked if I could have a pitch as near to the shower/toilets as poss. I was given pitch 5 or 6 but on arrival was given pitch 1 as the seasonal holder had taken their van away for a week. It was perfect. Very friendly staff on the site and in the farm shop/cafe where you could get lovely snacks or full meals. The shop is well stocked. We're novice caravanners and got great support from people staying on seasonal pitches who said we all help one another here. Made to feel very welcome. The site is clean and the grass well tended. 5 mins by car into city centre yet you feel as though you are in the heart of the countryside. My one gripe and I hate to complain about this lovely site it that the showers are wet-rooms that got very wet and there is nowhere dry to dress. For me this is difficult as being disabled I can't dress standing up, my clothes would get very wet so I had to go back in my nightwear. There is a disabled shower near reception but this is a long way away and apart from grab rails it was the same so I couldn't have used it anyway. For everyone else I think the showers would be fine. I can highly recommend this site. This is the only reason I give it 9/10 otherwise it would be 10.

Stayed for the weekend Friday to Sunday on the touring side through the security barrier, the pitches are level and all hard standing for the van with grass at the side for an awning. There is a water tap on every hook up board and the waste water and chemical disposal is behind the new shower block which if pitched down the far end of the site would be a 300 yard slog so pitch near the shower block. The new shower blocks are not completed so had to walk to the reception area for a shower but they look very nice, there were 2 working toilets though. The shower was 50p for 10 minutes and was hot and the reception one had 2 showers in the male block, the new block will have 4 and we were told they will be free when completed.
The site itself is peaceful and well kept and has a dog walking circuit on the end around 2 duck ponds. At the end of the site there is a gate leading to the beck with a footpath leading to Wigginton about a mile away and Haxby 1. 5 miles away with a woodland walk and open fields for dog exercising. Well placed for visits to York and surrounding areas and will return once shower blocks are finished.
