Just had 3 lovely nights on the CL part of the site, greeted warmly by one of the owners, who took time to explain everything to us.
Well spaced pitches, amenities spotless and cleaned regular, 50p shower for 10 minutes ample time.
Brilliant dog walk on site which led to a lovely stream and big field on one side and a wooded walk on the other.
The only downside was the CL part was quite close to the busy road and there was some traffic noise.
We were informed there was an hourly bus service to York, and there is a Tesco direct on a busy retail park only 10 mins drive away.

Hired motorhome for birthday treat. Absolute luxury compared to our usual tent camping! Have camped in and around York before but first time at Willow House. It is ideally situated for 10 minute bus ride to York city centre.
The site is very well maintained and all pitches are away from the busy main road making it very quiet. Spotless modern showers and toilets although I understand previous comments about these being a fair walk from tent pitches. Would not be be sufficient to put me off however.
The warden was friendly and helpful and at £16 per night, this site is a bargain! Lovely farm shop with cafe/restaurant on site. Would definitely recommend and return.

We stayed on the CL part of the site but the facilities are shared with the commercial site which we did walk round.
The CL area was good with five well spaced pitches (which seemed to expand to 6 during our stay as someone 'extra' arrived).
The main site looked OK but, as someone has already mentioned, although the site looked full the majority of the caravans were unattended.
The warden was very pleasant and helpful and, whilst the toilets/showers were clean, there were not enough of them to serve the whole site had there been more people there. The showers were 50p a time and, in the ladies, only one of the two were working.
The site is convenient for York with the park & ride a couple of roundabouts away (we would have walked to it but the road is dangerous with no footpath) and a large Tescos is also nearby so, overall a well placed site.
The lake looked a little sad during our stay with the water level very low due to the lack of rain previously.
Out the back of the site you can take a pleasant walk along the stream bank in either direction.

Just had a lovely weekend at Willow House. Very peaceful, apart from the early morning arguments among the ducks! The facilities were as always spotless, if a little far away from the tent area. (Toilet visits need to be planned well in advance!)
The washing up facilities for the tent fraternity could be expanded a little, as there is only one sink, and after the long journey down the site it is a bit frustrating to have to queue!
The farm shop is really handy, especially for basics such as milk and bread, and gets quite busy on a weekend.
We must make a point of booking early next year so we can get a space in the CL area.

Site has a CC CL area which was fully booked (we are not CC members anyway) so a full service pitch was provided on the 'commercial' section of the site. Wardens extremely welcoming and informative. Local bus service from site entrance. About 10 mins (possibly less) to city centre. Absolutely clinical facilities on an adults only level site that is impeccably kept, looking good even in winter but looking as if it will be stunning in summer.
Large retail parks within minutes of site. Farm Shop on site worth a look but reasonably priced Sunday roast lunch is great value.

Brilliant site, level bases, decent mains hook up and water supply, great pleasant and helpful staff. Toilets and showers were in fantastic order. There is a great little cafe/shop on site where you can get your essentials and something decent to eat. When we where there they had two reindeer in the front field to add that Christmas feel. It is a few miles in to York city it's self but there is a bus stop outside the campsite, we got a local taxi and it cost four of us £7.00 there and £9.50 back. Would highly recommend this site. Me and er indoors will be going back.

Our first visit to this site. We found the bus service into York very convenient and the walk down the drive to the bus stop enhanced by watching mother duck with ducklings and a chat to the two reindeer.
No sign yet of a new toilet block for the hard standing field, so a fair walk for those at the far end, but existing facilities very clean.
Site very quiet during the day, but we too were annoyed by the kennelled dogs barking every time someone walked down to the toilets during the evening.
Farm shop very good, with gifts etc plus a coffee shop.

Have just spent a weekend at Willow Farm. On arrival found the lady warden very welcoming and friendly. We were 2 adults and a tourer. The pitch was good. Excellent hardstanding and a good flat grassed area. There was no toilet paper in the ladies and the toilet blocks weren't cleaned the whole weekend from Friday to Sunday. The 'new' toilet block has been abandoned.
We also noticed that no bins on the campsite were emptied at all at the weekend.
Apart from when we arrived we didn't see the wardens at all.
As we paid £18 per night we thought it was expensive for such poor amenities.
We had a meal at a nearby pub The Black Horse. It had been recommended by the warden and it was fantastic. All home cooked food and very inexpensive. Very busy on Saturday evening so you may want to book.

Just back from our second stay at this lovely well kept site. The site has hard standings for caravans and campervans and grass pitches for tents. There was a good sized dog walk marked out and a couple of duck ponds with fishing.
We stayed in the tent field which was situated adjacent to the toilet/shower block. On arrival we were greeted by the wardens who showed us straight to the tent field and told us to pitch wherever we fancied as we had the whole field to ourselves! The ground was level and firm and ideal for pitching a tent. Unfortunately the tent field had no hook up but there was hook up available on pitches near to the duck pond but this involved a long trek to the toilet/shower blocks.
There were separate male and female shower blocks, each with two toilets and two showers. The showers were beautifully clean with piped music and 50p for 10 mins which was more than adequate. There was an additional 2 unisex toilets nearby. There was a shop with cafe which we didn't use but we were informed by the wardens that guests could get a cooked breakfast for £1.
We found the site to be very quiet by day but unfortunately noisy at night due to barking dogs. The dogs appeared to belong to the site owners and were kenelled outside. The barking started at dusk and continued on off until about 6am. I had my own two dogs with me and luckily they didn't join in with the barking but we didn't get much sleep.
The area was beautiful and there was loads to do. Far more than we could fit into a weekend. We took the park and ride into York for the day which cost about £2.40 each with free travel for the dogs and free parking. Although dogs are not allowed on York City walls we enjoyed a lovely walk along the river and enjoyed some site seeing.
All in all this site was really lovely and well worth a visit. If they could sort out the barking dogs it would be unbeatable. We will return but armed with earplugs! Two nights at the site cost us £28 without hook up but the facilities were worth it.

Positive - large hardstanding pitches, all electric, immaculate toilets with piped music.
Negative - in the last week of july the site was full. BUT only 5 out of 40 vans occupied! The other vans were on seasonal pitches. We spent a week on a very silent storage site. Although the toilets are great, they are a 5 min walk away AND they are open to the public using the shop and kids play area. Hence I would be having a quiet morning shave and a dad and 3 kids would run in shouting & screaming etc. I also saw people driving by just stop off to use the toilets. There are no private washing facilities and the showers are 50p.
