What a lovely site! Nothing more I can add to what has already been said. An adults only site with clean toilets and showers (even if they are a bit of a treck away and cost 50p for 10 minutes), site beautifully kept with a small cafe on the way in and a 24 hour Tesco Extra about five minutes away. Also convenient for the York park and ride.

On our last day we had the downpour of the century. The owners (lovely people) let us stay as long as we felt we needed while we waited for the rain to ease.

We were so happy there, we have booked to go back in August.

Me and OH are novice campers so this was the first site we visited because it was not too far from home.

Checked all the reviews on here before booking and the site certainly lived up to its expectations.  The site was really easy to find, the wardens were friendly and the site was immaculate, the toilets and showers were first class.  We were in the tent field nearest to the toilet/shower block and I concur with the views of others in that if you were at the tent (EHU) site near the pond, you would have a fair distance to walk to get to the toilets, but as said before, if you have a portaloo, then it would be fine.

We will definitely return.

Our first caravaning trip and I think we must have picked the best site ever. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Site immaculately kept and very peaceful even though full. Very nicely landscaped and immaculately manicured grass. Shower and toilet block spotless, with heating (not that it was needed as we must have been there on the hottest weekend of the year), music playing in the toilets a nice touch.

Dog walk at the end of the site round two ponds with ducks, one had just hatched her chicks that morning, and another pair would come and parade down the caravans for breakfast in the morning. They reciprocated the favour the next morning by leaving an egg outside our caravan.

At the end of the dog walk was a public footpath leading into the village of Wiggington and Haxby.

Another pond on the entrance road down to the reception where we spotted water voles playing. Lots of birds and bird houses spotted all over the site.

All the sites had hard standing and were level and for a small extra charge we were allowed to enjoy the sun for a few more hours instead of having to pack up and go at noon.

No shop on site, but then one was not needed at 24 hr Tesco just down the road at Monks Cross. Understand that they are just in the process of building another toilet/shower block with card access and also a farmshop/cafe.

Have booked to go back August bank holiday, so hopefully these will be up and running then.

I see that some of you have discovered Willow House, we have had the wonderful pleasure and privilege of staying on this what one can only say is york's premier caravan site on many occasions. Ok it's a bit of a walk to the immaculate toilets /showers but who cares! I guarantee you the best seat in Yorkshire when you get there. The site is a credit to it's owners. 5 pitch CL on left as you enter ALL hard standing. The main park is through key coded barrier again all pitches are hard standing. There is fishing on site which is located behind the CL, I seem to be the only person to fish it - well stocked with roach rudd tench perch carp both mirrors and commons. No fish to any great size but I've had carp to 12lbs and tench at 3lbs. The owners are really nice and keep the site immaculate. Small tent area at the back of the site. All electric hook ups with plenty of lighting on site. Park and Ride is only 5 minutes away, Clifton Moor shopping centre even nearer - ideal for us motorhomers as there are motorhome parking bays at Rawcliffe Bar, the man in the bus terminus will open the barrier for you. £2.00 return into York bus runs via National Railway Museum where the Yorkshire Eye Wheel is situated. 10 minute bus service.

Not much to add to the previous writer:

We decided we needed to try out our new tent, before the winter, to make sure it has all the required bits and pieces. Booked for 1 night (30 September), from Saturday and Sunday, and when we arrived it was lovely and quiet.

We have a big tent (huge, so it turned out), and so we preferred to park ourselves in the area where we had EHU. As we were the only ones there (apart from 1 caravan with 2 annoying little yapping Yorkshire terriers; the owners must have left for the day), we could choose our own spot, and so we ended up facing the pond with ducks and rabbits, which our Beagle thoroughly enjoyed.

The site is meticulously maintained, very clean, although where the caravans were parked, it looked a bit regimental: you're all exactly an x amount of meters away from each other, 2 rows, all behind each other.

The toilet blocks are indeed a fair walk, so you need to have a good communication with your bladder in order to anticipate when you will need to go. Luckily we had some alternative options, which was particularly useful in the middle of the night. When checking in at the reception, we were told that it was best to come by car.

Just to clarify: opposite of the toilet blocks there is a tent site for those who do not require EHU. If you do want EHU, you're a bit further removed from the toilet blocks. Simple as that.

Toilet blocks are absolutely spotless and must be cleaned about every hour. Loved the music playing and also loved the thoughtful little jokes/stories on the inside of the toilet doors. Gives us ladies something to do while we are there!

In the reception you will be able to find lots of leaflets and hints/tips on what to do in the area. In nearby Haxby you will be able to pick up a lovely hot pizza and kebab and there's some shops and there is a fish and chippy.

The dog walk is lovely: after 100 yards you leave the camping area and you can go either left or right and have a good walk.

Some negatives: You do hear the traffic on the motor way and if you want to get back to the A64 be sure to add an extra 10 minutes to your journey.

This is probably one of the best campsites that me and my husband have stayed at.  It was lovely the toilets and showers were lovely and clean.  The showers were a little expensive at 50p a time (for 10 minutes) even though you didn't use all of that time as were in and out. The other downfall is that as our tent had electric hook up we were right at the bottom of the caravan park so if needed to go to the toilet in a hurry (which normally happens when you are camping) we had to take the car.  They place for tents without hook up is ideally situated and you could get there in about 30 seconds!

Besides that it was a lovely clean place and people were very pleasant. Will definitely be going again. You are also near a couple of the park and rides which was ideal as you would park up and get the bus into town!

Stayed here for a weekend - We had the most relaxing weekend we have had in years. It was a very welcoming site and everyone was friendly.
The countryside is beautiful but it is so convenient for park & ride into york and about a mile away is a shopping complex with everything you could wish for from 24 hr Tesco to Currys and B & Q.
There are two nearby villages ( Wiggington & Haxby ) which have a few county pubs, bakers, butchers etc.
The park itself is so well cared for and the pitches are all flat and the grass is short. We pitched our tent at the lakeside as we wanted EHU & water ( Only 4 ) available but the pitches are big. We were the only tent at the lakeside so it was very peaceful & private. The toilets are about 400 yrds away but we preferred the lakeside position, there is a tent field just opposite the toilet & shower block.
The showers & toilets are second to none & I believe should be a clear contender for first prize in  "Holiday Park Loo of the year 2006", It really was a pleasure to use them - Spotless. Just remember to have 50p for a ten min shower and 20p for the hairdryer - well worth it though.
We don't have a dog, but all the dog owners were very considerate and took their dogs down the dog walk and cleaned up after their pooches and kept them on a lead.
In summary:
A wonderful tranquil hideaway after a hard week at the office. Well managed and thought out site, with the cleanest loos and showers I have ever seen - except for my own of course.!

To be honest, I should really advise everyone against going here as I want to keep this site to myself. It is BRILLIANT ! It is one of the most well kept sites I have ever visited. The setting for the tents is absolutely beautiful, situated next to the lake which is stocked with trout and bream (although there are only four EHU pitches) and as everyone has said, it is handy for everything. The owners are really helpful and do their utmost to make you welcome.

Clifton Moor Shopping Arcade is only 1.1 mile away with Netto, a 24hr Tesco Extra, and Burger King and McDonald outlets also. (should you want them) Rawcliffe Bar park and ride is only a further mile down the road and costs £2.00 return into York. There is a lovely village called Haxby nearby with a few good pubs and there are some nice walks if you want to take your dog.

Again, the matter of the toilet block being a distance from the tent area is a slight inconvenience, but I would suggest investing in a porta potti and your problem is solved ! I certainly cant wait to go back there and I don't think I could find a site that ticks all the boxes for me like this one. This is one place that I definitely can't wait to go back to.

Had a lovely weekend at this site - since we didn't need a hook-up we were in the field near the toilet block. The toilets and showers are really clean, and the music played in there is a bonus! It was a bit windy in the tent field, as there are fences rather than hedges along 3 sides, but we had the company of the horses from the neighbouring field, and the wind kept the scorching temperature down to a bearable level.
Only downside - no shop on site, or anywhere to refreeze ice blocks, but Clifton Moor shopping centre only 5 mins away, so not a problem. We will be returning in the near future.

Went here for a weekend break with 3 tents and 7 friends, we went to have fun, have a BBQ and drink. This place was FANTASTIC, we all really enjoyed our weekend here and would recommend to anyone. its about a mile away from everything, you name it, park and ride, Tesco, pubs and even a Toys r us..? Only one downfall, the toilets are about a mile away too! there approx 400 yards away from were we were which is pretty bad if your bursting during the night. And two very strange elderly people seemed to stare at us the entire time we were there,

Overall I'd definitely go here again, the people, security and nearby facilities are fantastic.
