Very clean & quiet site - brilliant, no kids! From the hardstanding field it's a bit of a trek to the toilet blocks. Nice clean loos and showers (heated room) - 50p a time. I guess at busy times there could be a lot of queing for these facilities. Signs of a toilet block being built closer; when will it be finished?
Bus into York every hour, but last one out leaves 7p.M. Ish ; no good to us who were there to sample the delights of the York pub crawl, so its a taxi back. Beer and pubs really good in the city. Akram's one of the best curries we've had (and we've had a few). National Railway Museum is free and really interesting (to sad people like me). We also got the train to Leeds and did the famous trans-pennine pub crawl (James May & Oz Clarke); excellent. Ah, steam, rail and beer; we will go back!

Well located for access to York, Castle Howard, Dalby Forest etc.
Bus stop outside site for buses to York.
A very pleasant site, laid out in formal lines - no problem with that. Level hard standing pitches. Landscaped small lake at bottom of site - nice to walk round and watch the ducks.
Bit of a walk to toilet/ shower block, but noticed new one being built closer to caravans - hopefully completed by now. Facilities perfectly adequate.
Farm shop has good selection of local food - best Scotch Egg so far. Other hot food available.
Would recommend.

York itself was excellent, although only a short visit, a couple of days well worth the long journey to get there!
The campsite was not that good for tents, the field had no lighting making it very difficult to navigate to the toilet block, which was clean but only had two showers at 50p for 10 minutes, make sure you take a supply of 50 pence pieces!
My main complaint was the road noise, the tent field is adjacent to the A1363 and the traffic is non stop!
The cafe and shop were good, it would be helpful if the shop also stocked a few toiletries and other necessities for campers, but the cafe was excellent with very helpful staff.

A pleasant quiet site with nice walks into Wiggington / Haxby and ideally located if you wish to visit the York attractions. Unfortunately it is slightly let down by the finishing touches. The toilets are a long way from the tent area and a new block seems to be a long term project from the surrounding weeds on the footings! 2 showers in each of male and female toilets, 1 in each not working and been out of order for some time according to regulars. The only shaver socket in gents not working either. Showers also a bit steep at 50p, 20 pence maybe but at £18 per night it is not a budget site so hot showers could be included in fees. Site is advertised as dog friendly so do expect to see dogs, however some owners don't seem to be able to stop theirs from barking constantly.

Do not pitch a tent in the caravan area! Arrived at reception to be told that the camp area was full, but it was ok as we could pitch up in the caravan area where there was electric. We were told that we may like to put the tent on the hard standing surface as the grass does hold a little water when wet and some people had gone home that morning with the rain. The grass was fine but as instructed we pitched on the hard surface, a little uncomfortable, but ok. The weather was nice Friday and Saturday 15th & 16th of August and only started to rain in the early hours of Sunday morning and moderate rain at that. We woke at 6:30 am to be greeted by 3 inches of water around and in the tent. The warning on arrival was totally inaccurate and inadequate.
There were a number of good points;
- Friendly staff - Location to York - Farm shop - Animals on-site - Clean site & good clean toilet block (but only 2 showers for the whole site for each gender. Unfortunately only working intermittently for females, so be prepared to queue even at 7.30 am, as no warden or reception on duty to advise)

Visited May Bank Holiday weekend, and were told it was fully booked (as you would expect).
Indeed, fairly busy but did not need to queue for the facilities, which were both modern and immaculately clean.
Nice farm shop and cafe on-site for farm-ie type products and a decent breakfast. They also sell bacon and BBQ type meat.
Would recommend the park and ride to York (£2), 2 minutes in the car from the site.
Local area very flat, great for cycling.
Nothing bad to report. We will return.

This is an excellent, adult only site, close to the City of York. Pitches are spacious and most are hard-standing. The site is well maintained and there are nice views all round. The facilities were excellent and were all heated and spotlessly clean and tidy. The only small criticism is that they are quite a distance from the touring field. Staff are very welcoming and the cafe on site must be good as it was packed on the Sunday when we left, but we didn't try it ourselves.
York is well worth a visit: excellent for shopping, nighlife and sight-seeing. There is a bus stop at the entrance to the site which runs into the City Centre and takes about 10 minutes. For other essentials, there is the Clifton Moor retail park, about 2 minutes drive from the site, with Tesco, Comet, Argos etc.
Would certainly return to this site.

This is a wonderful site, a real haven of tranquilty set in marvellously landscaped grounds. The warden on duty was very helpful and friendly, and the shower and toilet facilities were immaculate (showers 50p).A farm shop and cafe are also part of the site and reasonably priced. The pitches for the touring caravans were very spacious, and we will definitely be returning.

Campsite was the best ever! No kids running round it was great! The on site cafe/shop does brill breakfast & also sells all essentials. We will definatley go afew times every year. Toilets were clean & campsite was very well maintained. It's only a short taxi ride into York city centre but out of the way enough to be nice & peaceful
