Site - Approach is along a single track road, but is not a problem. Hardstandings, mainly open with a few trees and a grass area for tents. Surprisingly for this early in the season the site was busy. Good size pitches, flat. Double metal gates at entrance which you have to open and close yourself, deer can be a problem. Great location and wonderful views. Also wifi, I was touring for 6 weeks and found very few sites with wifi, even near quite large towns, how come they can get it here in the middle of nowhere, I'm not complaining, just grateful.

Wardens, very helpful, but I have never seen so many signs.

Dog Walk - alongside road on grass verge, also elsewhere off site.

Washroom - Very clean usual club standard, but water pressure very weak, you have to move around to get wet.

We did not want to leave this idyllic site.

Despite being surrounded by mountains the site was flat and the pitchs were big, level and well laid.

Electric hookup and wi-fi available although Caravan Club wifi is expensive.

All the usual CC facilities, all well maintained and clean.

Dog owners will love it - the off site dog walk (turn left out of main gate) takes you to the banks of the river Croe where you can safely let your dogs off their leads. The surrounding fields are securely fenced with 6ft high deer fencing, so unless you have very athletic dogs they will not get to the sheep.

As with all CC sites, dog owners must keep their dogs on leads at all times, prevent fouling and clean up any 'accidents'. A sensible rule which keeps the site clean and safe for everyone.

There is a small camping area on the site.

Local shopping is really expensive and poor, If you need petrol the local garage is only 2 miles away but has probably the highest prices in Scotland (cheapest CO-OP Broadford, Skye).

Good CO-OP in Kyle of Lochalsh.

Don't let the mis-informed comments of the previous reviewer put you off. There *is* a suitable dog walk right next to the site, just turn left out of the gate, & there is a path way following the river-great to let the dogs run about & stretch their legs. Not all dog walks have to be fenced in enclosures with nicely manicured lawns you know. They can actually be open, natural spaces-shock horror!

As for the comments about the site being unfriendly towards dog owners-rubbish!We have two lively & energetic Springers & we didn't experience any problems at all. The signs saying not to let your dog foul on the site-these signs are commonplace at all Caravan Club sites, so what's the problem? So long as you clean up after your dog, everything is fine.

Phone signal on both Vodaphone & 3 is very good, as was being able to use my Smart phone, so again - please check your facts before writing such glib statments!

Negative & ill informed reviews simply put people off, please get your facts right before reviewing.

Had we read the last review without actually having been there ourselves, it would probably have put us off going.

It's a lovely, peaceful site, good, clean showers & such like with loads to do within a short car trip away. Try Calum's seal trip at Plockton at a bargain £8 each(dogs go free) & the fascinating tour of Eilien Ban-the island under the Skye bridge.

Tour includes loads of info about Gavin Maxwell, author of Ring Of Bright Water (he owned the island & lived there for a short time)a climb to the top of the lighthouse & watching for seals etc from the wildlife hide.

You must pre book at the Brightwater Visitor Centre in Kyleakin, again, a bargain price-£7 each.

Stayed here one night, cost £17. 50 for 2 adults, 2 dogs and elec which we thought was good value. N

ot a huge site but very well maintained. It is nestled in a valley so wi-fi and phone reception is non existent but you could opt to buy some wi-fi from the site. Site is a 10-min drive from Eilean Doonan castle.

Site did not feel very friendly towards dogs with signs everywhere asking you not to let your dog foul anywhere on site.

There was a dog walk on site but nowhere beyond the site to let them off lead.

A gem of a site tucked away from the main road between Skye and Fort William. The site is about 1 mile from the main road but the access road is more than wide enough to accommodate caravans / motorhomes etc.

Its a big site with plenty of hard standing one end - the other end grass and tent pitching. Toilet / showers were warm, clean and had plenty of piping hot water. Relief warden on duty when we were there - friendly, smiling and helpful.

No shop on site - they just sold sweets and eggs and a couple of tins. Nearest supermarket 16 miles away so stock up before you get there. There is a village garage/ shop 2 miles away but shop had very little in the way of fresh goods.

This is a good base for visiting Skye, Eilean Donan and surround villages - however you will need to drive to go anywhere as the site will away from the village of any tourist attractions. There are guided walks into mountains run by the NTS who are based next door.

A really good site and we would use again.

A beautifully maintained site and an absolutely stunning location. Pitches are hard standing with electric and a tv socket. They are very roomy. The site was quite quiet when we were there which was perfect! We only met the wardens when checking in and the chap we saw was very pleasant.

The facilities were spotless. There was a good laundry, and information room and a drying room - not for laundry but for outdoor clothing.

Kyle of Lochalsh is about 20min drive and there is a large Co-op where you can stock up on shopping. Petrol/diesel is pricey and we filled up at Morrisons in Fort William en route to the site.

Nearby Plockton is beautiful and well worth a visit. Calum's Seal Trip was an excellent trip and dinner at the Plockton Inn was one of the best meals we had.

We will definitely return to this site in the near future.

Great site in the most amazing location. Spotless facilities and very efficient wardens. The tent area is small but flat and sheltered with no vehicles on the field but parking close by.

Full facilities including a drying room and communal area with a television. The toilet block has plenty of loos and shower cubicles with loads of hot water, a nice idea is separate cubicles with a wash hand basin, mirror, shaver point and plenty of hooks.

Milk and gas available in the office but the nearest shops towards Dornie.

Overall, probably the best, quiet campsite we found during our 3 weeks in Scotland.

We recently stayed here for two nights. First thing to note is that although this is a CC site they DO accept non-members.

The lady behind the desk didn't seem particularly helpful or friendly even before she knew we weren't members. She asked my girlfriend how big our tent was so my girlfriend told her the dimensions to which the woman shrugged her shoulders and said 'how big is that?'. I found this rather odd.

Despite this we pitched up on the tent field which although pretty level all over is very small. Luckily it wasn't busy whilst we were there so we didn't feel cramped.

The toilets and showers were very nice. I personally thought the shower was one of the nicest I've ever had at a campsite. Great high pressure and piping hot water.

The whole setup in the toilets/showers was spot on IMO. Nice scenery and walks nearby if you have dogs too. Perfectly located for trips to Eileen Donan Castle and Plockton which we did both of and popped over to Skye for a flying visit.

We booked onto this site for two nights on the way back from Skye and ended up staying for four. It is in an amazing spot for scenery.

The toilet block was spotless (would you expect anything else from the caravan club?) The wardens were brilliant even if they did come from the same street as me back in my home town (small world)

The walk down to the hotel took about 40 mins yet again brilliant service and great food

all in all I think if I am heading back up to Skye I will leave the caravan here and just travel. Brilliant!

Stayed 5 nights here as part of our west coast adventure. Lovely site in an idyllic location and so peaceful. Great standards throughout the site as expected of caravan club and really quite busy.

Good hot showers which always seemed busy although I never had to queue. We stocked up on groceries at Morrisons in Fort William before we arrived as we had heard that shops were some distance away with the nearest supermaket being at Lochalsh.

If you shop at Fort William then it is best to park at the car park next to Morrisons as they have special designated spaces for caravans and motorhomes.

There is loads to see and do in this area, we went to Skye for a day which was great. Eillen Dorran castle is also a great day out and our favourite find was Plockton, a lovely wee village to wander around, have lunch and take a wee boat trip to see the seals.

All in all a great caravan site and great area to explore.
