Our second visit, and despite generally avoiding the Club sites we’d likely go back here.
Our first visit (2017), was rain-drenched, when we were grateful for the excellent drying room. This year, hours of brilliant sunshine allowed us to enjoy the great views in the area.
Maybe it was just us, but the directions given on the CAMC website didn’t work as well as we expected and we found ourselves having to find a turning place on the main road and come back. The “Jac’o’bite” inn mentioned as a landmark no longer appears to be itself these days.
A very pleasant welcome from the site manager, with helpful advice about the choice of pitches available and a lovely sense of humour even at the end of the afternoon.
It’s a CAMC site, meaning caravans and m-homes on parade, and somehow the club does feel to transplant the same little corner of Surrey into its site design wherever it goes; here the inspiring scenery all round lifts it superbly once you look up and out.
The facilities are somewhat dated but very well-kept thanks to the site managers, and function well enough.
Those who don’t like walking far to use the block can pitch very near up to it, though the vigorous bangs made by the door closer might keep you awake.
One reason we rarely use CAMC sites has been the glaring lights atop the bollards. Here we were glad to see that to promote dark skies, help wild-life and save power, the bollard lights are mostly switched off at night. Good. Some members insist of rebelliously switching them back on… maybe they feel too far from Surrey!
Excursions included a memorable day trip to Skye via the Kylerhea ferry – so much more fun than the bridge … “We don’t use the B word here”, they said… where within the space of 20 minutes looking over the Sound of Sleat we saw White-tailed Eagle and an otter fishing. Then the bonus of the Waverley, the last sea-going paddle steamer, greeting the almost equally historic turntable ferry as she hurtled by. The main roads on Skye were the busiest we encountered in our whole tour.
Another very enjoyable trip was to the Pictish brochs at Dun Troddan near Glenelg, where the nicely named Dun Inn brewing company over the road serves teas and other refreshments as well as their own brews. There are two brochs, with more stonework standing still in place than the majority of brochs. And if not for the English Army of the early 18th C nicking the stone to build Bernera Barracks in order to subdue the natives, these two brochs would likely still have been almost entire, as apparently they had remained until then.
Plockton was as picturesque as usual despite being now so well-known, and by going through Duirinish we got to see the Highland cattle wandering free round the village.
Worth noting that our stay at Morvich, in late mid-May, already saw the dreaded midges out in force, especially troubling to those on the grass tent camping field who were having to take proper precautions - though one of us here still carried the bites a few weeks later!
Walks from the site range from the seriously adventurous, needing the right gear and proper physical fitness and experience, to the pleasant ambles I took each morning up the path from the site, through utterly delightful bluebell woods along the water side, on up the start of the valley path towards Glen Affric.

A screw-up by Calmac (no surprise there) left us unable to get to our booked site at a very busy time; Morvich stepped in late in the day and helpfully reserved their last pitch for us.
What a lovely surprise to find such a beautiful quiet site, surrounded by wonderful mountain views, with very friendly helpful staff and excellent facilities.
Now we're planning to stay for a few days on our next Scotland tour, it's one of the best ever sites we have visited anywhere.

I have stayed at many Club sites over the years but this has to be one of the best, if not the best.
The location is absolutely sublime whether you want total peace & quiet, access to Skye or wonderful walks.
The site Wardens, Judith & Simon, could not have been more friendly and helpful. When they eventually decide to retire from being Wardens it will be a sad day for all who know that their professionalism, attitude and kindness is second to none.
Great facilities at the site, water is hot both in dishwashing AND the showers (which, sadly is not always the case on Club sites), pitches are generous & level and the grounds are kept immaculate. Oh - and no midges even though I visited in July!
Although Asda delivers to local properties do not expect much (anything) in the way of food shops unless you drive 20 or so miles to the Co-op at Kyle of Lochalsh.

Stayed 6 nights during May (to avoid the midges) and the stay was very pleasant and peaceful although the site was quite full,
Toilets and showers excellent pitches very generous but I think we should have chosen a pitch closer to the amenities.
All in all a great site and area. TV reception poor but the bollards have a tv outlet so bring your cable, or buy at reception.
The site has good access lookout for the war memorial as it is quite high up on a small hill.

Have stayed at this site a few times before but it was a while since previous visit.
It’s up to the usual club standards, ie very clean facilities and tidy grounds. Flat pitches.
Good views of the mountains.
The site isn’t close to a major good shop but there are some local options for basics such as milk and bread. So bring supplies with you. Didn’t try any in this visit, but, there is some serious walking nearby including direct from the site.
Falls of Glomsch and two Munros from the site. This site remains one of my favourites.
One thing I wish would change is the option to not use EHU.
Club sites are now very expensive for low electricity usage.

This is an excellent site, making an excellent base for this part of the Highlands.
Glen Shirley and Skye are easily accessible and there’s lots to do within driving distance.
Excellent facilities on site and a good pub a very short drive or half hours walk.

Only prebooked for two nights, ended off staying a week as it was perfect for what we needed. The wife's job is checking in and she says the wardens was very nice and helpful. The site itself is well kept, toilets, showers, very clean. A well laid out site, flat and good size pitches. It is in a remote area, quite a bit away from shops, but the reception has essentials and there is a shop and pub/restaurant about a mile away, we never tried it but spoke to people who thought it was ok. We went to Kyle for stores and a Chinese carry out one night which was excellent. Perfect for walking, long haul or just a wander with the dog. Definitely be back next year, ps we loaded up with midgie repellent, never saw them, whether good luck or time of year I don't know.

Excellent location either as a stop over on the way North or for its proximity to the 5 Sisters etc. Only a mile off the main route. Wonderful views and good value and facilities with friendly wardens.

Well maintained site in enchanting surroundings with mountains, glens and lochs all around you. Excellently designed layout gives a choice between loch views or more shelter from the weather. Hardstanding pitches all of a good size, big enough for caravan, awning and car, with grass patches or hedges between and room to breath. Facilities not the best I have seen but fairly close and the tent pitches looked good. First site I have seen where most campers kept to 5mph speed limit.
