Just spent a fantastic 3 nights here. Just perfect, lovely wardens very helpful and friendly. The site is set out well plenty of space and privacy and being a dog owner there are walks in every direction onto Cannock chase, so my spaniel was completely worn out every day. Toilet facilities were great spotlessly clean at all times. Cant wait to visit again we are ready to book a week here in 2016

Excellent site one of the best we have visited

This is a wonderful well run site, It is a Camping and Caravan Club Site. The site is set in a forest setting which is very pleasing to the eye. There is a oneway system in place. The site is easily accessible. The office sells basics in the way of food. There are two pubs nearby that provide 'The Red Lion' and 'The Park Gate'. The site has good access to Cannock Chase which has two great purpose built Mountain Bike courses.

We saw three Fallow Deer when we took our grand children for a walk, they were only 30 feet away, We saw a Buzzard very close by, A kestrel. As it got dark we heard a Barn Owl out hunting.

There is an excellent play area for the kids. Plenty of water points. Toilets are spotless with plenty of free hot water.

The Wardens are really nice people too. All in All a very nice run site. I can recommend this site it is great.

This is a lovely site and in a peaceful surroundings. The staff are very friendly and helpful. As this was only our second time out with our caravan the staff couldn't do enough to help us even to the point if helping us pitch our caravan which after a stressful journey( traffic and weather ) it was a welcome bonus.

The site is nice and tidy and you get the feeling that it is the staffs pride and joy as they always seem to be cleaning or gardening.

There is a busy road which passes the site which to start off with seemed a bit noisy but that is soon forgotten as the bird song and surroundings take your mind off it.

The toilet and shower block is really clean and a welcome change that they are free all that is required is the code to the door which is provided when you check in.

The TV reception is a bit hit and miss, normally this wouldn't matter but the weekend we stayed it was rain, rain and more rain.

There are plenty of walks from the site as it is situated on Cannock chase. We would have liked to discovered more but with the weather being wet we didn't venture too far.

There is a small play area for children which is on the edge of the site.

The shop is small and open for only a few hours a day so take plenty of supplies.

This site is one we will hopefully visit again.

Stayed here over the May day holiday principally because it's only 35 miles from home and an area we had never been to. It's a lovely site albeit next to a busy Road, so there is some traffic noise. The toilet block was always spotless if a bit dated. As others have said great access to the trails direct from the site. We ate at the Park Gate Inn which is a good enough walk to make you feel not guilty. Good honest pub grub with great local ale and dog friendly

Great weekend, booked for August bank!

What a lovely place! We booked at relatively short notice for the time of year and got a pitch for us and some friends. The staff were incredibly helpful during booking and upon our arrival, making sure we had a pitch to suit our requirements and checking we had all of the information we needed to know about the facilities etc which, I have to say, were spotless. In fact the whole site was spotless, tidy and beautifully kept. We loved the setting, completely surrounded by trees with access to the Chase, so tranquil. The staff have paid such attention to detail, even down to making the waste water area look lovely.

They aim to keep a quieter area for adults only, which I thought was really thoughtful. We had family come and visit and the children loved the Chase, the children's play area and just being able to run around, and their parents loved the whole atmosphere of the place to the extent that they visited two evenings on the trot.

We are definitely planning a return visit - thank you very much for a fantastic weekend.

We don't tend to spend time on site, we like to get about but this camp site was so tranquil we were so tempted to stay on site. It was the start of the heat wave in July and the site was buzzing and full. Cycling through the Forest was a thrill, not just fir trees but deciduous trees and broad sways to walk or cycle with plenty of sunshine. I would strongly advise anyone intending to cycle or walk through the many paths to invest in a good map, although the chances of getting lost are very slim, there is always people about.

The showers are in need of updating, only because of the small number of units in compassion to the number of campers. The showers themselves were great.

We had a hard standing pitch behind the reception and had a good TV signal, but some pitches were non TV.

All in al a great site.

We visited this campsite for 2 nights @end of May 2013.

2 adults, and a teenager.

Campsite was quiet, despite it being half term.

Nicely kept. Campsite but could do with fresh gravel on the hard standings.

Nice friendly wardens.

Good little play area.

We had a hard standing next to dog walk which was actually the access to the forest.

Shower/toilet block was clean and tidy.

We walked from the campsite to Castle Ring, a well preserved Iron Age ? fortress. En route back we called at the

Park Gate Pub and had a drink outside. The food there smelt nice and they do allow dogs in the bar area.

Total walk time about 2 hours. A bit muddy and need to cross the very busy very fast road. Outside the campsite. The warden will sell you a map for 10p so, you can find it easily!

We also walked the other way through the forest to one of the Visitor Centres. We stopped for a hot chocolate and a panini. Good food, reasonably priced.

Toilets at the visitor centre. Route was good and mostly level. On road for part of route. Dogs had a great time.

We saw deer on both these walks, jumping fences and hiding in the forest.

We would return to this site.

We have just returned from a great bank holiday stay at the Cannock Chase c and cc site, as others say the wardens are friendly and very helpful, it seems to be the thing with the c and cc club that a warden sites you, ok for us in our motorhome but could perhaps be a little offputting for a novice caravaner. Ideal for dog walkers and very popular with mountain bikers. We walked upto the Park Gate inn which offers the best 2 for 10 pound meals ive ever found, but don't miss a walk to the nearby iron age Castle ring hill fort with its fantastic views.

Tv reception is poor and we had no luck with our sat dish or mobile phone which turned out nice.

Shower block is clean with plenty of hot water if a little dated, virtualy no heating, ok for the warmer weather tho, the motorhome waste point is difficult to access,

Our only niggle was the property next to the site the home of a large Alsation which is kept outside and literally barked all night, best not to pitch by the fence, this didn't spoil our stay though. It's a lovely site, we will return.

We stayed here for a week at half term. It's a relatively small site for a C&CC club site, the facilities were very clean, and our 6 year old loved the little playground. There's good walks through the woods from the site and the pitch was level. The shop seemed to be mostly closed whenever we went up but there's a big Tesco in the next village about ten minutes drive away, and a good Chinese takeaway five minutes drive.

I should have done this review sooner as I know we probably won't go back to this site but I'm not quite sure why! The overall general feel definitely wasn't as friendly as Teversal (where we had been on our previous trip) though the location is probably better and the site is more attractive.

We stayed on this site for a long weekend early in April - the weekend after Easter weekend when it was still very cold and snowy. Had a lovely few days on the site - ideal for walking on the chase but within easy reach of Lichfield and Rugeley. The site was well kept and clean and tidy and the shower/toilet blocks were absolutely pristine. But there was very little heating in the shower block and no underfloor heating at all which meant that the tiled floor was very very very cold indeed. It was like standing on a block of ice! So be warned, make sure you take clean flip flops/crocs to wear in the shower area or else you amy end up with frostbitten toes!

The site is close to the main road but it wasn't too intrusive - we live near a busy road anyway so we are de-sensitised to road noise now I suppose!

There was a very small shop in the reception office which stocked some basic food items and maps etc.

The adventure playground was enjoyed by our youngest daughter who made friends with one or two other children on the site.
