What a lovely setting, this site is in the middle of Cannock Chase (miles of forest) yet so close to the west midlands. We put up our bird feeder and it got took over by red squirrels. Deer roam freely all over the chase ! love the wildlife.
Back to the site itself, very well set out lots of level hardstandings but the grass pitches are quite sloping. Quality toilet / shower blocks and very friendly / helpful wardens.
We took our grandson who loved riding his bike freely and safely around the site. The site reception has a small supply of essentials (inc a freezer with icecreams, 30p for a FAB.
There is a local shop with a post office and pub about a mile & half away other than that there is a Morrisons in Rugeley (3 miles away)
There is quite a bit of bird noise from the house next door (pheasant screams at 0330am followed by cockeral starting at 0400am). Plus side of this is free range fresh eggs via honesty box on the fence £1 1/2 doz
All in all this site is easily accessible (even for a twin axle van) close to the Midlands yet in the middle of nowhere. Loads of wildlife and excellent facilities, We will be back. Recommended defo !

Stayed Fri & Sat Night with 2 children, excellent site as you'd expect from C&CC.
Staff very helpful on arrival, shown to pitch; only minor compliant is the site slops in parts. We were ok with our tent, but some caravans looked to be struggling with some of the dips.
Toilet block clean and had all you need, showers, hair dryer etc. Key coded entry which kept is private.
Only other compliant is the pea cocks and hens next door which was a nice chorus at 5am!
And perhaps some area for children, couple of swings etc would be a great addition
Local to loads of trails and walks. We walked to Cannock Chase visitors centre which has Go Ape, bike hire and further walks.
Couple of local pubs within walking distance. We went to The Park Gate @ Cannock Wood, excellent food, pub and beer garden
All in all a great weekend. Weather helped (first time I’ve taken my tent down dry!), would go back!

This is a brilliant site for walkers and cyclists and a very good base to visit Staffordshire.
The site is popular with weekend campers but fairly quiet during the week. The site shop is basic ( bread milk, eggs etc ).
There are 2 pubs within walking distance and shops within 1 mile. Morrisons supermarket is about 2 miles away.
Most of the site is sloping and terraced at one end and is situated in a wooded area. The facilities are excellent particularly the showers which have mixer taps that you control.
Downside was a cockerel and peacock next door reminding us they were awake at 10-30pm and 4-15am

We have stayed here a few times.
It is a small site and most pitches are level.
The facilities are beautifully clean and well maintained.
The staff are very friendly and helpful although not very knowledgeable about the areas.
The shop is very basic. It would be nice f they had a few more bits and pieces and also if they had newspapers at the weekends. It would also be nice if they had Cannock Chase maps and brochires there - they have some but not the ones with maps on that we had seen elsewhere.
We have a dog that needs a lot exercise and this was perfect for him. Just through a little gate and there are many walks through the forest so it is a great site to rest and do very little. TV reception is poor s there is a chance to catch up on your reading or practise your chess.
It felt very relaxed when we took young children although there is no play area for them and so I am not sure that there is room for ball games etc.

Great location. Excellent forest access from site with miles and miles of walking.
Friendly, helpful wardens.
Clean toilet blocks and showers, coded entry.
Easy access in and out of site, overnight parking area.
There is a local shop a short walk away from site which sells newspapers etc.
A five minute drive away takes you to a convenience store and a fairly nice chippy.!
If you like walking then this is the site for you.
Overall, a nice little find one I am sure we will revisit!

As usual the standard of facilities was good as this is a C and CC site. Toilets clean, as was dishwash. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
Pitch size was good although on a slight slope. We didn't feel hemmed in by caravans and motorhomes as we have been on other C and CC sites where pitches are regimented in rows. On this site there is a circular road.
The pitches are on the edge of this and also in a central area. No play ground for kids but lots of families took bikes and the kids rode around the road. There is a small wooded area at the top corner of the site whcih the kids used to play in.
Water and waste points within short distance to pitches. Excellent for walks. Chip shop a short drive away as were Morrisons and Aldi. Only minus point was we were plagued by flying ants from our point of arrival.
Would re-visist if no ants as close to home and convenient.

Have just returned from our first visit to this sight and can totally agree with previous reviews, The staff were exceedingly helpful and always in good humour
The facilities were the best we have come across, and having three dogs the amount of unrestricted walks was a doggie heaven, the property next door had a fine collection of Ducks and exotic fowl and even did fresh eggs from a little shelter on the fence with an honesty box.
The pitches were very well kept and although some had a little slope it was nothing that could not be overcome with the aid of blocks supplied on site, there were plenty of fresh water points, and the shop seemed to be open for more than the notified times.
Not having a television I don't know what the reception was like. The surroundings were beautiful and the access roads were very good if a little hilly in places, Rugely was a great place for shopping. This is definitely on the top of our must revisit list

Great site
Easy approach to site.
Friendly helpful staff. Typical of C+CC sites
Advised which pitches had better TV signal but even so reception very poor. Instead enjoyed evening walks in woodland next to site.
No play area but children made many friends and enjoyed cycling around the site.
Noisy birds from house next door but the advantage was the availability of free range eggs (my children found the honesty box an interesting concept!)
Toilet blocks clean and plenty of hot water available.
Reception sold basic provisions. Nearest shop short drive away

This was our second visit to this site because we enjoyed our previous stay so much. Again we had a lovely, but short break.
When we booked the site on the Camping & Caravan Club site, we could only book a hard-standing pitch which isn’t the best for a trailer tent with loads of tent-pegs. However, when we arrived, we were immediately offered a choice of pitches more suited to our requirements. The ground was still hard, due to a long period of dry weather, but there seemed to be no stones just below the surface.
The toilet & shower block was spotless and regularly checked and there is a shop on site with a selection of basics available. Access to Cannock Chase is directly off the site so this is ideal for, walking and cycling etc. There’s no pub within reasonable walking distance, so if you like a tipple, call at the ‘offy’ on your way. However it is only a few minutes drive to Rugeley with all the usual facilities available. The other campers here were quiet at night and our departure was not rushed, so striking camp was a relaxed affair (we are not early risers).
As others have noted, there is a quietish road that runs by the site, and the local peacock is your morning wake-up caller. If you don’t like nature, consider another site. The only niggle I have is the codes to the WC & shower block – a little fiddly and in the dark, the lock on the gents side is not visible without a torch.
We will be back again!

This is our 3rd experience of visiting a C&CC site and as usual the standards are high, the toilets and showers were clean and there is a mop so you can leave them as you found them.
The site itself is very pretty, it's set in woodland but still gets plenty of light, the road does run alongside and you do hear the traffic on it but it's not a busy road so the noise isn't obtrusive, you do hear the cockerel and Peacock but again it's only a couple of times a day and I expect countryside noises when using any site.
Tv signal is poor however we did get a full signal on our satellite system, I think it depends where you pitch as to whether you will get signal or not as the site is edged with very tall trees.
Our only concern was that children are allowed to play football and ride bikes between the units.
