We stayed for three nights just after Easter 2013.
Reception was helpful on arrival, suggesting a couple of pitches that we could use. The manager guided us to our pitch which was also helpful.
The site was nicely laid out although there wasn't much space for tents, more for caravans and motor homes. The pitch we were given was flat. Toilet facilities, showers, washing up and water supply all close by. Wherever you pitch they'd be within 2-3 minutes walk because the site is compact.
Water hot in the showers and washing up area. Toilets and shower area clean. My only complaint was that on one occasion I went to the washing up room, only to find it locked. It seems they lock the room overnight. I can't remember whether it was morning or night, but when I tried it wasn't ridiculously early or late ie it was either at 8am or at 10pm.
The nearest shops are in rugeley, which is about 5-10 minutes drive north. The shop on site only opens for about 1 hour per day and has very limited stock.
I probably won't return. We chose this site to be near Tamworth. We have previously camped at Kingsbury Water Park which is nearer Tamworth, but decided to try Cannock Chase to see how it compared. There was nothing special about the site that would make us choose it over Kingsbury, and Kingsbury is nearer Tamworth. In fact on reflection the site wasn't as spacious or with as varying a topography as the photos suggested.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this C&CC site. A lovely rural location with direct access to the cycle and footpath system of Cannock Chase. We had a warm welcome from the new site managers and were given a good choice of pitch. Everything explained and info about walks and local pubs etc. The road nearby does get busy at rush hour but we did not find the noise excessive. The neighbours no longer have livestock so the cockerel was not a problem! Two local pubs, m Park Gate in and Chetwynd arms both did good food at reasonable prices. The two visitors centres on the Chase were a short drive away and a wide range of outdoor activities are available there. The facilities were spotlessly clean if a little basic. Plenty of hot water after a short wait. The reception sell basic supplies and essential ice cream! A small play area is available for children and dogs are well catered for on the footpaths leading from the site. A lovely site and I'm sure we will return.

Well signposted from the A51, friendly welcome from the extremely helpful wardens, good sized hardstanding pitch (which we were allowed to choose, which was nice) and the layout of the place is pleasant, surrounded by woodland.
The shower/toilet blocks were spotless but could have been a bit warmer on these cold October mornings and the shower had to be left running for quite a while before the water was warm enough. Washing up facilities are indoors and there is a laundry, parent and child room and a 'Swiss Chalet' type reception. Ample water/waste points which were well positioned and well kept.
The only downside for us was the road that runs at the front of the site. Very busy/noisy. We could even hear the trucks and cars thundering past from inside our caravan, especially early in the morning. Considering the location in Cannock Wood this came as a surprise. We expected to hear the peacocks next door, not traffic.
We used the Park Gate Inn for a meal one evening (it took some finding, with the help of directions from the warden - follow the signs to the Castle Ring). Great food at a reasonable price, good service and definitely somewhere we will use again when in the area.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but the road noise was really an issue for us. Such a pity as everything else was top notch.

Went to this site mid September and what a lovely site. Made very welcome and had a lovely relaxing weekend away. Had a walk through cannock chase which right next to site. Very pleased I went and will probably go again just to relax and get away. Just one thing had a problem with phone reception but not a bad thing at all. Just a small walk into chase problem solved.
Had a drive into rugeley on the way to site and next day a drive to lichfield which was very friendly and a lovely town. Medieval ceremonies going on a lovely day

Have recently returned from a pleasant three night stay at Cannock Chase Camping & Caravanning club site. We are long standing members of the Club, but don't use the sites often in the peak seasons as they tend to be expensive. At £22.45 a night, this one was no exception, but we wanted a site close to Lichfield, so this fitted our requirements.
On arrival in the midst of a sharp shower we were quickly checked in and told that we could pitch anywhere that was free. We chose a pitch at the far end of the sire alongside the rear fence. The neighbouring property has chickens, geese and peacocks, but these did not disturb us.
As you expect from Club sites, the toilet, shower, and washing up facilities were all very acceptable and clean. Indeed the loos seemed to be mopped out at least twice a day as well as the deep clean at 11:00hrs.
There is a small shop in the office, and a small children's play area - so why did some have to ride all round the site on their bikes!
Went into Rugeley for some shopping. A modest sized Morrisons will cater for most needs. There's also a Wilkinsons opposite. Rugeley is nothing to write home about!
Lichfield is a delightful small city with a magnificent cathedral, as well as a modest shopping centre all in a compact area. Also worth visiting are Dr. Johnson's house and the Garrick Theatre.
Monkey World at Trentham is certainly worth a visit in fine weather. Summer is a good time as there are baby macaques around. That's not to say that the others aren't interesting to see. There is a good cafe which serves generous portions. Note that as the monkeys roam free, dogs cannot be allowed in.
Perhaps the only downside to the site is that both TV and mobile phone reception are very poor - the former even with an extending booster aerial.
All in all, a nice site, which we would return to if we wanted to stay in the locale.

We visited this site for 4 days (3 nights)as we was treating our children to a trip to Cadbury World near Birmingham.
Arrival - We arrived in a thunder storm but was greeted to a friendly and warm reception from the wardens, we was able to pick our pitch which was next to the playground.
We have 3 children 9 years and twins at 7 and they loved the site and the play area.
Very well kept site facilities where good, ensan and fresh/waste water where all next to each other which I like.
All in all a good all round site, good for the children to play and the adults to relax.
I do have one gripe and that is the hardstanding pitches are not wide enough to fit a car/caravan/awning all next to each other. We had to park our car on the grass which was a slight worry with the heavy downpour of rain we had.
Regardless we will visit this site again as we really did like it.

We stayed at this site during the last weekend of june mainly to attend the ' Will Young ' forest concert. A site well worth visiting. Well laid out. A very friendly welcome from the site managers. On our first night we were unfortunate enough to be locked out of our motorhome and spent a long night in our car. The next morning at 7am the site manager did all he could to help us, even phoning the AA for us and providing a very welcome cup of tea as we were so cold after a night in the car!
We are members of the Caravan club as well as the C & CC and up until now have always found the C & CC more the 'unfriendly club ' of the two. It was such a pleasure to be given the chance to drive around the site and choose our own pitch rather than be taken by a very ' efficient ' man on a bike telling us exactly where to park up the van.
I think the C & cc should use this as a template for all their sites making a very happy camping experience for those who stay
Only downside no recycling facilities.

Just had four nights here over the Easter weekend and will try to return again in the summer so we can see the forest at its best.
The staff are friendly and helpful, all facilities are really clean, pitches are a decent size and quite level. I found one of the male showers seemed cooler than the other two and my wife said it was the same in the womens one cooler than the others, but this was only a small thing.
The tv reception was good but phone signal was almost non existent and it is one of the few sites were my mobile broadband didn't work. They do have wifi on site but I would check signal strength on your pitch before you buy as the signal on our pitch was very low so I didn't bother to buy a voucher.
All in all a great site with very easy access from the M6, it makes a good base for visiting the surrounding area or you can just enjoy the forest and relax in the peace and quiet.

Used this site as a stop off on the way home to Devon. Handy for M6 about 20 minutes away from the site.
Arrived on a Saturday mid-September. Warm welcome from wardens and a choice of hardstandings still available.
NOTE TO MOTORHOMERS/CARAVANNERS - the 2 hardstanding pitches opposite the shower block (that back onto the camping central grass area) are probably the only 2 pitches where you will get satellite tv reception. We tried to other pitches on the park (nearer the perimeter fence) without success. So if you back into one of the 2 pitches with careful manoeuvre you should get reception like we did.
Park is pretty, with an almost 'alpine' feel to it. Reception resembles an Austrian wooden cabin and looked lovely draped in flowers. Site is well tended to and better compared to other C & CC sites we have visited. Care has been shown to the grass and the pitches.
Shower block modern and clean, again better than the camping and caravan club site that we'd just left at Keswick. Hairdryer - charge.
I would imagine site is popular during the weekends. What spoilt our stay was a large group of tenters (several units pitched together) about 30 feet behind our motorhome, they were loud (shouting, drinking, laughing etc) from about 8pm to 3am (I managed to get to sleep around 2am) so if I was disturbed inside my motorhome goodness knows how loud it was for those in tents near the offenders. The warden in their caravan must have been equal distance away from us, but the noise was allowed to carry on.
Also, being on one of the pitches opposite the shower block everyone decided we were the 'cut through' to get there. Despite us being on a designated pitch, tenters were oblivious to this fact and walked through day and night (even in groups chatting loudly at 2am) almost touching our wing mirrors. This was not acceptable to us having 2 nervous rescue dogs who did not like people approaching our 'area', the people that cut through could see this was upsetting our dogs but still continued to do it.
Children were riding bikes all over people's pitches.
Cars were not abiding to a safe speed limit around the park, dangerous considering the children on their bikes. Also a lot of people driving around the wrong way and entering in the 'no entry' areas for quicker access.
For these above reasons we will not be returning to the site. Would recommend to those who perhaps prefer a 'lively' site where you can chill with a relaxed approach to rules - as it would seem there are none!

Heaven is the only way to describe cannock chase C&CC site, we first stayed in summer 2010 & have been back nearly a dozen times since & have already booked 4 or 5 long weekends in 2012, 1 hour from home & set in the middle of the forest away from the rat race, magic!
Our dogs just go nuts on the approach to the site.
If your a laid back animal loving outdoorsy type who loves the smell of a BBQ in the eve, a trek through the forest to the pub in the day & the sound of the dawn chorus as you wake then this is the place for you.
I personally can't fault the site, facilities & site are immaculate, the wardens S & S who run the site are the best & so down to earth.
Families who want to play ball will be disappointed as much of the open space is given over to pitches but with a whole forest to explore so what.
We just love it.
