Camped here for couple of nights as its near to where we live and wanted to test out our new caravan. It is a lovely site, the grass is like a bowling green! couldn't fault the toilets and showers they were spotless. It is on a slope so you need chocks, the site manager helped us level the van with blocks of wood that they had handy, we would have been there all day doing it! Also take your insect repellant and candles, lots of mozzies around due to the woodlands.
Only downside I felt was there is no play area and no ball games allowed for children, even thought there were quite a few families camping. But we will definitely use the site again.

Return visit to this hidden gem.
Loos and showers spotless and lovely walks for the dogs.
One grumble though was we asked for a specific pitch and was told it was occupied, no problem we took another but during the entire time we were there no one turned up on the pitch we had originally asked for and the pitch we were given was next to the dog walk on one side and a van opening on the 'wrong side' on the other so we had no where at all to sit out it was more like a parking space than a proper pitch !
Very limited opening hours for the site shop so make sure you take everything you need with you, and don't forget your loo block code !

This site is like an oasis within Cannock Chase woods looking very green and pretty and was nearly full on the weekend we went. Due to potential non-camping outside invaders, the main gate has to be opened and closed manually with every vehicle movement and the code for the toilet block committed to memory as soon as possible.
Like other reviewers I do feel sorry for families with children who have to be on their very best behaviour or come in a straightjacket.
The holiday site manager found me a great pitch on the grassy knoll in the middle and with a couple of CC&C supplied logs under the front legs,a Fiamma levelling chock under a wheel, we were finally level. I did have visions though of rapid forward movement in the night down the hill into the Pageant Series 6 below us. But we stayed firm during our stay.
I looked enviously at the flat pitches around the perimeter of the site but in the end was happy with our house on the hill.
When people ask about which main Club to join this issue about self pitch selection should be one of the deciding factors.
First site we've been to where our DAB radio did not work but the digi box worked with the TV.
Orange mobile reception was out but Vodafone worked.
Along with the cockrel the next door neighbour now has a peacock.
To sum up, its a beautiful site in a georgeous location with the drawback of a fast road alondside the site and noisy feathered neighbours.

We picked this site because of its proximity to home (Approx 8 miles!) as only one of us had the week off! What a gem! If you like peace and quiet and walking you'll love this site! The toilets and showers were immaculate and those of a standard you'd expect at a c and cc club site. They were cleaned every day; and as the weather was so atrocious at the beginning of the week; that was no easy task. The wardens and their assistants were polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Our pitch, which was one of the larger hardstandings well fitted our caravan and full awning. The views were simply lovely from the windows. The dog walk straight from the campsite (We were only 2 pitches away from the gate!)was a dream for our springer; in fact, hes been very grumpy since we got back!
As it was my birthday whilst we were on our stay,I was taken to a couple of local pubs for meals, both of which were lovely. The Ash Tree on the A513 towards Armitage, is right next to the canal, and the food, when it arrived was good. The Horns, at Slitting Mill (off A51 back towards Cannock)was also good. There was not a huge choice on the menu, but all 4 of us agreed that our food was superb, and we will defo go back even if we're not at Wandon.
Thank you for a lovely week!

A lovely clean site as you would expect from the C.C. Toilets and showers spotless as ever which you need a code to enter . There is no playground or ballgames for the kids but you are right next to the forest. This is the fourth visit and the first time I've ever seen deer at the site. It's only 20miles away for me so definately shall visit again. PS the cockerals are noisy.

The approach from Rugely to Cannock club site is a bit testing as the local council have put lots of traffc calming humps everywhere but once past these it's a good run in to a small and very clean camp site with spotlessly clean toilets ,even in the wet weather. Reception /wardens very helpful even when we tripped our leccy box. Most pitches are to grass and sloping so chocks will be needed but there are level hard standing pitches as well all with 10amp hookups, so be careful with your electricals. The site gives you direct access to the Chase so is great if mountain biking / walking is your thing. The site has poor tv and mobile phone reception so if you can do without corry for a few days then Cannock Chase C&C club site is worth it for a chillout holiday / break. There's a small infomation hut on site with all local attractions covered. The main road runs past the site so some road noise & the next door neighbours cockeral will give you an early morning call for free. Will be going back again for another chillout weekend soon.

Firstly, after reading the previous comments, I am sure there must be new wardens here for this season, as they are the nicest couple we have met so far on any of the sites we have ever stayed on. Friendly welcoming reception from them with helpful info about Cannock Chase etc. The warden was civil about everyone on site and seemed ok to us.
There were 2 tents on site and when we were leaving the warden was going over to see if one was ok as it was a Dad and his child and there had been 3 to 4 inches of snow overnight.
Small amount of stock in reception area, including bread, eggs, cakes, sweets etc. The also sell maps for the local area including OS. Loads of brochures on site for surrounding area.
There is a gate at the top of the site which leads directly out on to the Southern edge of the Cannock Chase area which easily links onto trails that feed into the chase. We did an easy circular walk from the site over to the Forest Visitor Centre and back, take your wellies/waterproof boots if it has been wet as it gets boggy in places and watch out for bikes as they are everywhere.
Facilities on site were 9 out 0f 10, the water was hot but the actual block could benefit from a bit more heating for when you step out.
No/very poor mobile reception but there is a pay phone on site.
We will definitely go again as it is ideal for walkers.

The site is in a nice location & well set out. However, the lower pitches are near to a busy road & can be noisy, the showers were only warm & the site is not child friendly unless you do not plan to spend any time actually on the site. The warden has a ball sensor & as soon as my boys moved out of the awning with a ball he was onto them, he told me that if he saw the ball again we would be asked to leave the site! They were also told off for playing hide & seek, riding their bikes on the field & for running.
Ideal site for older people or couples, but in my opinion, not families with active children. The warden stated that they upset the 'grumpies' who thay have to keep happy.

This is a lovely site with fantastic walks from the site directly onto the Chase. The facilities are what you'd expect from a camping and caravan club site but unfortunately I had the distinct impression that campers are a spanner in the works who destroy the ambiance. Maybe it was because it was end of the season and the busy wardens were tired and/or because we were a group of eight units meeting for a weekend (we were very well behaved!) that we were met with a sustained disapproval that kind of coloured what really was a lovely weekend.
However, despite the distinctly derogatory comments made by the wardens about several of the paying customers I would have no hesitation in recommending this site for a quiet peaceful weekend especially if you enjoy hearing the deer and owls during the night and the rooster who takes over where they leave off!

Brilliant area and lovely walks, sloped pitches as mentioned but we managed to get levelled.Clean and adequate loos etc and good facs for washing dished & laundry. Would be ideal for couples on their own or retired people as it seemed geared that way - we were made to feel uncomfortable as we had teenagers with us who were brilliant and no trouble at all but the wardens were very wary and quite unprofessional making comments to other families about long hair etc!
Site shop ok for ice lollies but no bread or basics but there was a Morrissons 5 mins away and Sainsburys & McD's, KFC etc in Cannock.
All in all a fair stay which the area itself made up for & great wildlife, but marred and not geared for families - not labelled as adult only but may as well be.
